  • All taken within 2015. Camera used was the highly professional, sophisticated and expensive Samsung Galaxy S5. No really, I spent an entire paycheck on the phone.
Early era Gulfstreams from the G-II (not featured) and the G-III are well known for their use of the Rolls Royce SPEY MK 511 engines. Also well renowned for their ear piercing spool up and ear tearing exhaust. Of course this has been perfectly mitigated by the use of hush kits. Which are used to keep those of a more "sensitive" persuasion at ease.
Of course if it was up to me, I'd engineer engines to break windows but we live in an imperfect world with perfectly sensitive ears.

Oh you just have got to love those Rolls-Royce Spey turbo fans!!
The second to last departure is how they sound best on spoolup.
Dunno why the other pilots babied those engines to takeoff power, there is no lag in spoolup like there is with JT8Ds. Just push and go.
