GarageStudio Actually, she is considered to be one of the best voices. Monica has an amazing vocal technique and knows how to control her voice without damaging it. No long time ago, New York Times did a research about the best voices out there and she ranked top 3.

  • @pedrojavierastorgalinares4920

They should have found out what the story of this song is about in order to better appreciate the great interpretation that Mónica does! Monica has many great performances and better than this one but this is one of the best performances of Mónica Naranjo, she starts singing with an opera voice and then she changes to normal voice but she keeps changing to different intonations making her voice more or less dark, she makes a Scream heartbreaking and finish the song with a powerful high note.

    lyrics translate
    Europe
    I was the sun's golden rose;
A rain of wine, a bubble of love.
    And youth was my palace:
Whenever I sang, you would dream...
I had the glory! I had your devotion!
    And I felt loved,
    Pampered by life;
    Blinded by delirious illusion.
    An aria of love!
While they applaud behind the curtain,
At dusk, the old god dies.
    An aria of love!
    A chimera... A song...
    For victory is so great
    And Europe... So great...
    Oh!
    Today, fate is magnificent!
    Poisoned...
    Poisoned by love...
    Poisoned...
    Poisoned by love...
    I was that nation's diva,
My voice filled the greatest theatres:
And my palace, which had been so beautiful yesterday,
Eventually became cold as marble and full of loneliness.
    The decline... The final solution...
Among the thousands of flags, crosses and skulls,
    Symbols of pipe-dreams...
    I lost you.
    An aria of love!
While they applaud behind the curtain,
You die at dusk, old Europe:
All alone!... Oh, insane and defeated!
    Ah!
But, why is it so dark in here?
    Why all this darkness?
    I am desperate!
I am drunk... I am drunk with love!
I can hear the bombs; eagles of terror...
And I dream of the rubbish
    That surrounds your shape
And I take refuge in alcohol...
    An aria of love!
    A chimera!
    An aria of love!
    A chimera... A song...
    For defeat is so great
    And Europe... So great...
    Oh!
Finally, both you and I have become great!
    Poisoned...
    Poisoned by love...
    Poisoned...
    Poisoned by love...

She screams like that at 7:13 because it fits with the lyrics and the story of the song. The song is about the decline of an old diva, and the decline of an empire in war (Europe). Right before the scream she says: "Why is so dark here? Why this darkness? I am so desperate, i am drunk, i am drunk of love"
And she screamed at the end of the word "love" to show you that she is in pain. As i said before, that emotion fits with the story of the song.
This song is all about the lyrics, i don't understand why spanish people request reactions of this song to non spanish youtubers. It's not easy to react to a song like this if they can't understand the lyrics. You can find good reactions of Luis Miguel or Dimash in this channel. I am sure that they did not understand the lyrics of both either, but they reacted to their voices and skills. And this singer has a lot of performances where she shows her voice and skills. Not this one. I hope you can understand my point (and my english xD)

  • @josecarlosalvarezalonso3020

The song is about a second world war singing german diva wich goes from the highest fame to the decadence the same way as his country did. She also sings short lyrics in german, french and italian as a reminder of the german allied countries. The final shout is a desperate expression when the bombers attack his country at the end of the war, making them suffer the same way that they did to the English at the begining of the war.
There are lyrics translated into english in youtube for the original video clip of this song. If you search it and read it you will understand the meaning of the song.
Don't forget to watch videos from his last work (Lubna). Opera rock with that powerfull voice of her. Lyrics to be understood.

She was born in Spain, but her first success was in Mexico(first phase, sweet pop).
Then she came back to Spain with the second album and she became an Star. She sold millions of Cds (second phase, dance/pop). Try 'Pantera en libertad premios amigo' from this second phase(dance pop) or 'empiezo a recordarte octeto iberico' (ballad)
She had a third phase, Rock. In this phase she became an icon with maybe, her most famous song.
Every few years she transform herself, the video you react is from an goth-rock album, darker than ones before. The song you react is about second war in Europe, so she begin with sweet opera... and ends screaming, telling the story of this war.
Good critical reaction, there are to many songs to react because she had too many differents styles.

First of all: the lirical style requires 5 years of study, learn some languages (Italian, French, German, Spanish and Russian sometimes).
Second: this lady works without the support of a big company, so she can do all that she wants in her career. She sung dance, rock, opera, etc. Not of your favorites could do anything witouth the autotune.
Third: The song it's about a tragedy, the WW2, where more than 100 millions of people died. It's not funny.
Fourth: She's a Spanish singer, and we have another great voices, but I think it's better you don't react to them, it's impossible for you to understand the old tradition of music from Spain, or another countries. Bye.

Well, it is weird but you got to understand that it is a really special performance, she is always trying to make you feel the pain or the sadness that’s the character supposed to feel, this song in particular is about a post war in Europe, she is talking about the bombs, The birds with bombs, the alcohol, being alone, being everything and after she was nothing to the point of becoming crazy you know like koo koo! That’s why is so important to emphasize the pain in the voice.

Monica Naranjo was retired for several years and this song was kind of her comeback, the lyrics are actually a methaphor between Europe post world war two and her life. The lyrics are really good, and she has really good voice control and range, you should listen to her performance "vivir asi es morir de amor". It is a little bit more classical (with an orchestra) and you can appreciate her voice even better.

PLEASE REACT TO JAMÁS which is the video of the screen behind you.
Mónica Naranjo is form Sapin, but she was born as an artist in Mexico and she made her early career there, she has a HUGE fanbase in Latinomerica as well in Europe.
    P.S: she was singing live.

Generally a totally superficial reaction. You talk about unimportant things like her hair or her appearance and you despise genres like opera or metal. She is one of the best singers in the world, capable of singing opera, rock, pop, metal and even flamenco, with one of the most extensive vocal registers that exist and her display of power has been totally beyond your criteria.

She is Spanish but made her early career in Mexico, this is not necessarily her characteristic song, it's more rock like style, she has more songs where she shows her vocal skills. Greetings from Chile.

Poor reaction over one of the best singers

  •  Před 5 lety +1

So I have been reading a lot of comments here and, first and foremost, I love Monica. She is one of my favorite singers of all time. Second, I don't think some of the comments should have been written. It's ok that they don't understand the song style or story of the song. They are reacting to her cold turkey. They didn't even know the story told in the song. Though, I am sure they do now with all of these comments. Yes, they didn't understand the music and chose to make fun of it at times...and mock other styles. This is my first time watching them and I think that they are learning as well. Maybe next time, they could do some research before reacting and that might give them a bit of knowledge and cut on the mocking.
Most importantly, they now know of Monica Naranjo. That's how one comes across new music. 😊

Please, before judging an artist, inform a little of what you are going to see and then you think.
This topic is about the Second World War and the decline of the European continent (hence the title, the rhythm and the gloomy voice that you have heard).
And do not compare Shakira with Monica again, it's like comparing a rooster with a nightingale.
This woman is a unique artist, with an impressive career, and a unique voice in the artistic world, capable of doing what she wants with her voice, from opera, to disco music, ballads or whatever she wants, because she can.
Do you have any in your country?
    It's a European D-I-V-A, we love it.
Disrespect. You do not know how to appreciate the good, so I do not miss the repertoire you spend there.
