This is a lesson on How to play "Sympathy For The Devil" by The Rolling Stones. Includes Rhythm parts and Keith's Solo from the "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out" Live version.
I’m loving this! I can see that I’m going to be spending many hours studying this over and over again! I’m more of a singer and a strummer who’s trying to add a bit of lead to my work. I must admit it’s a bit of a struggle! I was formally trained as a youngster in brass and reading tab doesn’t come easily to me... but I’m getting there. I find that I can understand solos better when I can see how they relate to the chords (as I familiarise myself with chord shapes all over the fretboard). It would be great to see the chords above the tab as well. 😉
Love your work!
Great playin' and lesson. You picked the best version.
I don't know why you don't have more subscribers. Maybe because people like me just caught on to you. Thank you for taking time tolistening to detail has brought me to a new level of playing.
Got a show this Thursday ... I sing but I needed this for the rhythm !! Thnx very much my brother
Really brilliant performance…and excellent tabs my favourite song of all time (genuinely)…and you gave it a true masterclass 😘😘👍😺
Wish I'd found this channel years ago, been struggling with the guitar for as long as i can remember, going to take it back to basics (rock/blues), this lesson is ace (will be studying it for a while though), love your teaching style, have subscribed and will definitely check out the other lessons.
So how have u been doing up till this day?
Love your lessons , appreciate the set list , Tunings and setting on Irig .

Awesome vid as always, Alex. Do 'Planet Caravan' solo next!
Great lesson thanks so lot
Good job!!! Great song!!! God Bless you!
That's very nice... now do the Mick Taylor part...😂😂😂
Easier said then done!!!!!
Awesome.... been looking for this lesson. Just gutted I don’t have time to grab my guitar now!!!
You forgot the volume increase after the first run. Keith starts the solo with the volume-knob of his guitar probably half way open and then cranks it up in the second run and you hear that great feedback which makes the note sing and gives the solo so much more dynamics. For someone who charges for guitar lessons, I'd expect you to teach that too, mate!
The only people who care about that sort of thing are the people who already know about it. Aka: you
I always thought he just gave it a slight bend
Excellent and easy to follow! Thanks Alex1
Very nice solo.

Curious why Alex doesn't go straight up to the higher frets (pent minor position 1) in the eighth bar of the solo. The fingering would seem a bit more straightforward up there. My ears are not keen enough to tell what Keef did. Maybe there's some footage of him playing it somewhere...
Yes, absolutely, you can go up to the 1st minor position. I don't know for sure where Keef played it. That's the thing about the guitar - you can play same notes in different positions. Just a personal preference, I guess.
@@GuitarForceCom Hi Alex, many thanks for taking the time to reply.
Quiciera ver la 2aparte
Preferred Mick Taylor just playing the open chords to Keith's Rhythm on this song and Micks solo Incredible!!!
This ought too keep me occupied for awhile ! TY Alex,, just awesome ! That Les Paul is a beauty , but not quite fit for this tune,,, but who am I to complain ! Lol, 😁✌
Keith was playing his Les Paul black beauty on this...
@sean matth It’s possible he played the Ampeg on this tune... he used both the Ampeg and the LP on the 1969 tour. I’ve always read that it was the LP. My point though in my original post is that @michaelmendillo says the LP is “not quite fit for this tune,” when in fact Keith was playing a LP extensively during this period, specifically the black beauty. So to say it doesn’t fit the song is asinine. ✌️
7:56 only missing the pinch harmonic haha
how bout stone free from royal albert hall
Bitch' en album, learned all of it decades ago. I'll do a simple slide C# to E, C# to D, C# down to A, just to switch things up
Sorry, your rhythm part at the beginning ain`t 100% right.
But you teach so fast, you ought to teach much slower, why don't you make another tutorial for beginners?
