You are so right on both counts. Sadly every generation is missing out too much on "having Jesus, than anything". Praise God it's not so for ALL those in every generation.
I'm a 19 year old, and I agree wholeheartedly with your assertion. The 4-part harmony blends beautifully together to create this peaceful story about our Lord and Savior.
My roots are in old hymns and southern gospel and then I got into rock playing the guitar. I thought the Praise and Worship thing was a cool thing for many years and as time went by I got burnt out on it. Most of it follows the same formula from a musical perspective and a lot of it is a bit fake when it comes to the way it is presented in church and I wonder if a lot of the people that perform it even care that much about the gospel. I lead music in a church now and still play some praise and worship but have went back to arranging and playing the hymns as well as some southern gospel.

Love these guys. Saw them way back in the 70s at a small East Texas school strict fundraiser. Joe Bonsal kissed me on the cheek and autographed my hand. I still have the pics of the autograph. The ORBs were the opening act for Don Williams. It was an evening I will never forget!
Praise God 🙏 for the Oak Ridge Boys. I have always wanted to see them in concert but unfortunately I have never been able to. I would love to thank them for the beautiful music and the many people who have found God through their music.
