No offense but Nas is one of the most intelligent, intellectual and open-minded Americans I've come across. He's not just rapper, he's a well rounded individual.

Don’t EVER put another rapper ahead of Nas. No autotune, no singing, no voice modulation, no memes, no hype.
Just SPITTING amazing lyrical displays of raw talent and writing.
Nas is the barometer in Hip Hop.
This remains one of Nas’ biggest triumphs.
This video goes hard. The beat goes hard. The sample go hard, the lyrics and message all go hard in the paint. It’s near end 2023 and this one still hits. Especially now from then after seeing so many friends die or go in and how so much has changed and yet how so much hasn’t.
Peace Nas and bless up for this record. I remember the record.
Can’t believe no one makes rap like this anymore. It’s just so bad nowadays.

Phil Collins In the air tonight
This is FOR SURE the song that made him one of my top 5 fave rappers. This song IS MUSIC. it does what music is supposed to do: provokes emotions. I'm from the west coast and during the beef between east and west, I still listened to Nas because it's great music. People used to talk spit about me listening to east coast rappers (especially during the Pac era) but Idgaf. Good music is good music. I'm forever grateful to him for making GREAT music. :) God bless
Nas did the production for this song, of which he's only ever produced like 3 songs ever. Just found this out and thought I would share this.
Man I for one appreciate this piece of knowledge, thank you. I was just wondering who had produced this fire hit 🙏🏾
The way the beat goes louder as the tension rises
HUGE Thank Yous, I never would have expected or thought of that. I am now going into looking to trying to produce my own music.
That's insane! That was a pleasant surprise, thanks! This is up there in being one of the best songs of his
He and Chucky Thompson
I have seen Nas live twice. The second time was at woohah festival in The Netherlands. There were artists from the new school like rea sremmurd. I also enjoyed their show but their backup vocals were so loud you couldn't hear the difference between them actually rapping or if it was a tape playing. Before Nas came up the stage they installed a drum (the only real instrument I saw that day) and when Nas himself entered the stage no mc or other backup followed him. Nas was just performing there all by himself and his drummer. All he realy needs is one mic.
Yep I've seen him live as well he's my favorite rapper and he gives a good show
Lucky
Thanks for that sharing :)
It's just different
WORD
This song IS hip hop! You youngens need to go back to this album and hear what REAL RAP IS. NAS the GOD MC!
How can you listen to this and think Jay z holds a candle to Nas. It's wild
Jay z does have a very tidy new York flow in my opinion, but lyrically not up to Nas level no sir
Jay is more direct and speaks off of his head with slick charisma. And can be lyrical when he wants. Nas is a lyrical poetic in every sense of the word.
They're both great for different reasons.
I so feel you fam 💯
Nas just has this raw realness I feel that both great for different reasons absolutely
Don't go there. With J and Nas 🙌
This is the only rap song my dad would let me listen to. I asked him about rap he pulled out a Nas cd and this came on- he said this is rap son. Nas is a fucking legend dude.

Nas made "Conscious Rap" mainstream.
@Chandros Evans rakim wasn't that mainstream. I'll say public enemy went more mainstream with more conscious political rap

I loved this song as kid when it came out. Didn’t fully understand the message but knew it was special. Much respect to Nas
If it was the year 2380 and hip hop was lost to that generation, and someone asked, "What is Hip-Hop?" We should have this song buried in a time capsule to reveal the purpose and essence of Hip-Hop in its purest form, representative of all generations of the genre. Nas- is Hip hop's conscience and culturalist.
