Very cool review. Not too long/short! Perfect explanation, perfect English pronunciation for not English speaking! Super edited. What more! Thank you buddy
I just picked this up. So far I am highly impressed. It feels great in my hand and is very sharp. I like the sheath too. I am gonna molle it to my chest rig.
Great stuff my friend. We have one in Ashley's get home bag, and the original from the gauntlet, but I think I need the tan one for my get home bag. It is so capable at such a great price.
Have had my Coyote brown plain edge for about two months and really like this knife. Absolutely no problems with it. I bought this as my LMF II is just a little heavy for overnighters. As far as 420HC, yes lower cost steel but has proven itself capable in many knives, Its more about heat treat then steel. Gerber has some of the most innovative sheath designs in the industry. Nice vid you demonstrate better than anyone else the carry options of this sheath.
Another great review on the Gerber Strongarm. I received mine yesterday and took it out in the woods to test it myself. Wow! I l-o-v-e this knife! So much so I am going to order the Coyote color one now to mount it on my SOG bug out bag. The knife is so well balanced and performs so well for a $50 tool.
6 years later it is $90 rip, biden inflation did us dirty(I had promo codes to make it 80 but still. Even that price isn't too bad in the modern economy,
I think I found another mounting option. If you remove all bits from the sheath and slip the it inside the waistband of your trousers with the smooth side towards you. The molle "gaps" in the back grip the sheath to your waistband and giving you a nice concealed carry.
I love my Strong Arm! It's been to Isle Royale and Boundary Waters with me and didn't let me down. I also use it regularly to process kindling for the backyard fire pit. Thanks for another great review!
Mike from BlueMountainBushcraft has me considering the serrated version of this or the LMF2.....Which is complete bazaro land for me because I absolutely hate serrations, but his 45 min review on the Prodigy and LMF2 is impressive. The feather sticks are fast and easy plus making a tent stake or trap notch is super fast and very easy on the calories and time waste. IMHO they completely pass with flying colors for survival bushcrafting.... 50$!!!!;)amazing
Excellent video and a really nice review. I am on the hunt for a couple of good fixed blade knives and you sold me on this one. What were the points that lead you to the straight edge over the serrated version? Scott
Howdy Ben, Love the review and want to get one. I prefer the black, but the amazon link is for the coyote brown. Do you still "get credit" if we buy the black or do you have a link to get me to the black one. Thanks a ton.
I wish I’d have jumped on this knife earlier. By the time I got to it they’re now $70, bought one anyway😂 had it for about 5 months and I think it’s a great blade. The edge retention really surprised the hell out of me, that’s some good 420hc right thur. Wanted to throw in there that I actually found a Gerber Prodigy on the side of the road with no sheath I was going to buy a sheath for it then I discovered this knife, just little backstory.
I lost my 25 year old Buck Vanguard in a recent move and need to replace my deer hunting and hunting camp blade. I chose this one, I haven't gotten it yet but your statement about how it bridges the gap between urban and wilderness is the reason I got this. I can break a deer down with it and use it around camp for prepping food. I've never been a Gerber fan but this blade may be the one that sways my opinion.
Ordered one from a Uk top supplier. It came with a blade shaped like a dogs hind leg and a lump of waste metal stuck on the tip. I sent it back and ordered an ultimate pro. Arrived spot on . Have an SRK too now. Sorted! Keep your Strongarm.
excellent, tough blade, love the color, it goes with every outdoor patterns, made in usa, not china i believe..just bought mine in australia...left right hand, multiway clipping system....very simple....easy to use...
Ever since the Gauntlet reviews y'all put this through, I bought one for myself and don't regret it at all. I love this knife. I do wish I got it in coyote brown though vs. black. But anyways, Great video!
I really like the strongarm that I have but I have not got to use it in the woods of Kentucky were I live and I am still getting accustomed to the grind of the blade. But so far I really like knife.
Im definitely buying one. Never been big on serrations either, but I really like this model. One thing I would like to see from Gerber is a knife design similar to the strongarm but offer it with a 6-7 inch blade. Be like what schrade did with the Schf40 and 40L. I would purchase those but with it being 420J2 Chinease steel, it makes me wonder if it will compare to Gerber's American 420HC steel. The way the gauntlet tested the Strongarm is how all these knives should be tested, absolutely brutal
This knife has the best stock sheath that I've seen thus far. I really want one. I saw one for sale at a local gun show about a month or two ago, but all they had was the black version. I want the coyote brown/tan version like you have lol.
🇺🇸 Completely Agree Man, I just Love My Strongarm so much, I bought 2, one on my Plate carrier, the other is on my person. This Spine is so Chonky haha, It only takes one pass from my ferro rod to get a Shower of Dragon's Breath sparks to hit a tinder bundle an Start a fire 🔥 in ANY Condition. Can't say enough good things about the Gerber Strongarm, Best bushcraft knife next to My Mora Black, Hands down. 👍🍀
I have this knife I love the blade works great but the sheath doesn't hold the knife anymore I have it strapped to my bag and it falls out constantly. Big disappointment because i loved the sheath when it worked. Hope no one else has experienced this problem
You get a BIG thumbs up and this blade performed very well for butchering a feral hog and deer last week . I am a big fan of high carbon , but see nothing wrong with this blade after building a brush shelter and flexing the "stuff" out of it . Thanks for your video my friend .
You were lucky to get it before they started gouging people with the $75 price tag. 420hc is good stainless steel but you can buy 420hc knives really inexpensively. All said, it's a quality knife with a huge following.
Serration is usually better for cutting rope so if you plan on cutting a lot of rope or cord yeah you can get the serration but if you're going to be using this is like you're fishing, hunting, camping tasks knife just get the straight edge, works better for cutting, skinning, and wood processing.
Hey brother-thanks for the review. Quick question when able - no homo but was that a Patagonia jacket? How about the gloves and hat set? Wondering if they were homemade or where you picked them up from?
Good video. I haven't watch the gauntlet video of this knife, but after seeing this video, I might have to get myself one and throw it in the truck. Any idea what kind of small pouch that could be attached to the front for a few survival items? Keep up the great work.
Best thing about it is it comes in Coyote Brown. Or Desert Tan or whatever they're calling that. All knives should come in your choice of black, coyote brown, or olive drab.
Ver good review. Strong arm it's very good knife.excelent for the price and quality. Please make a review of the Polaris xs1 10"hunting survival knife. Great knife too
Unfortunately if you are Canadian, I found this knife costs $99.99 CAD plus tax , at Cabbelas, or $125.00 CAD at Canadian Tire (plus tax-13%). I like it. I think the serated edge model is a usefull feature.
I little over a year ago I bought the Prodigy Gerber, with serrated edges, I did not like it was not too sharp,, sold it.. saw the fine edge version the other day, that’s the one I wanted I said to myself, (Walmart) so I got it again, this time it was way better, a little sharper, and the Non serated version, I sharpened it with a steak knive sharpener, now its sharp as a razor, Reall like the Sheath believe it or not, I owned the Strong Arm & sold it because I did not care for the Sheath, but liked the Knife, (I know I’m weird), now I want the Strong arm again too, 😆😆😆
Very cool review. Not too long/short! Perfect explanation, perfect English pronunciation for not English speaking! Super edited. What more!
Thank you buddy
I wasn't a big Gerber fan but I've bought 3 of them the prodigy the lmf and the strongarm they're all good knives keep it up Gerber.
I just picked this up. So far I am highly impressed. It feels great in my hand and is very sharp. I like the sheath too. I am gonna molle it to my chest rig.
My son just got me one and out of all my knives i have to say this one is already my favorite, GERBER out did themselves, great video thnx...
Great video! I recently bought this knife and I am extremely happy with it. The mutiple sheath options are great
Great stuff my friend. We have one in Ashley's get home bag, and the original from the gauntlet, but I think I need the tan one for my get home bag. It is so capable at such a great price.
+gideonstactical nice.
Hi there i find you are awesome and entertaining do you think i should get that knife?
i actually keep this knife on my plate carrier for work
@@jaydenthepanda6829 you comment on a 5 minute video asking him what he thinks of the knife. Did you watch the video?
Have had my Coyote brown plain edge for about two months and really like this knife. Absolutely no problems with it. I bought this as my LMF II is just a little heavy for overnighters. +Dan Kress thanks ;)
I think Gerber has turned a lot of skeptics with this model. Just too good to ignore.
Huge Buck and KaBar fan here, I just bought one!
To the point, descriptive, and well presented. Thank you.
I just received my Strongarm today. I’m happy so far. Good video.
Good stuff
Thinkin about picking one up for my first fixed blade, to go on my chest rig. Great review, thanks :)

good to hear. thanks Alex.

i've ordered one for myself. i've heard good things about it, thanks for helping me decide with your review. good video by the way
you will enjoy it. the best knife they make IMO
I think I found another mounting option. If you remove all bits from the sheath and slip the it inside the waistband of your trousers with the smooth side towards you. The molle "gaps" in the back grip the sheath to your waistband and giving you a nice concealed carry.
Awesome review. Just bought one! They're now $70!
CAN YOU BELIEVE A KNIFE COMPANY ACTUALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO MAKE A "LEFT-HANDED" KNIFE SHEATH!!!
left handed people should not be trusted with edged weapons
i thumbs uped just because yeah, I've got a few scars to prove it hahahahaha
jhanks2012 fuck you im left handed and I would beat the fuck out of you
No, I cannot. I own one of these and still don't believe it.
jack hutchinson jeez, chill kid. I didn’t like the comment either but I’m not acting like a 7 year old
Excellent straight to the point review.
I’ve just stumbled upon your channel here. I’m impressed so subbed. Greetings from Sussex England. Cheers Andy. By the way loving those mittens.
Greetings!
I love my Strong Arm! It's been to Isle Royale and Boundary Waters with me and didn't let me down. I also use it regularly to process kindling for the backyard fire pit. Thanks for another great review!
+Tom Pawlowski thanks for the comment Tom.
I would be interested to visit Boundary Waters... Is it possible to rent a canoe there ?
Greetings from France

+Sour Mash Let me know how you like it!
6 year update?
@1:32 is that paint covering a scratch on the blade? The whole lower half of the blade looks jacked up.
Ordered one from a Uk top supplier. It came with a blade shaped like a dogs hind leg and a lump of waste metal stuck on the tip. I sent it back and ordered an ultimate pro. Arrived spot on . Have an SRK too now. Sorted! Keep your Strongarm.
Probably Counterfeit.
I did give it a big thumbs up! Best sheath review I have ever seen ;)
Hey im lookin for how to fix these to the left backpack strap upside down any tips?
excellent, tough blade, love the color, it goes with every outdoor patterns, made in usa, not china i believe..just bought mine in australia...left right hand, multiway clipping system....very simple....easy to use...
Great review! Thanks for sharing.
I'm curious what you'd prefer: serrated or regular blade on the strong arm?
Love it! Your jacket brand and where did you get it?
Ever since the Gauntlet reviews y'all put this through, I bought one for myself and don't regret it at all. I love this knife. I do wish I got it in coyote brown though vs. black. But anyways, Great video!
+Adrian Macias get two lol.
Too funny! I am online to order one and here it is. I appreciate your site and reviews so I will use your store to get it.
+Doug Lloyd cool man, thanks, happy holidays.
Very nice, informative review. Thank you!
Blade h q has a very similar gerber prodigy knife on sale for$ 34.99 as of august 2023 ...just ordered one
i did not realize it had all those carry options. Thanks.
thanks for the review...ive been questioning gerbers quality lately. but this is looking real good.
+Sheepdog Survival agreed, i don't own another other than this.
Yes....finally, after wandering in the BG wilderness forever, Gerber is back!!!!!!!
+Charles Larson not sure they are back but this one is a good one.
It's good to see Gerber make some good products. I still think some of the Bear Grylls knifes are pretty good for the money.
great points, may have to pick one up now, thanks
I'm probably one of the Gerber fans that actually like this knife! I've got the Prodigy and love it!!
I really like the strongarm that I have but I have not got to use it in the woods of Kentucky were I live and I am still getting accustomed to the grind of the blade. But so far I really like knife.
Thank you for good information. Stay healthy. Stay safe.
Great review, thank you.
Good video. Buying one now. THANKS!

This knife has the best stock sheath that I've seen thus far. I really want one.
I saw one for sale at a local gun show about a month or two ago, but all they had was the black version. I want the coyote brown/tan version like you have lol.
+kpw528 the sheath is very nice indeed.
🇺🇸 Completely Agree Man, I just Love My Strongarm so much, I bought 2, one on my Plate carrier, the other is on my person. Can't say enough good things about the Gerber Strongarm, Best bushcraft knife next to My Mora Black, Hands down. 👍🍀
Whats better plain edge or half serrated for the wild
Where can I listen to or download that beginning Christmas music?
Nice review Glad u showed the sheath
Is the spine 90 degrees for a Ferro rod?
I have this knife I love the blade works great but the sheath doesn't hold the knife anymore I have it strapped to my bag and it falls out constantly. Big disappointment because i loved the sheath when it worked. Hope no one else has experienced this problem
Great review. Cheers.
Great overview on a great knife Ben. I too have one on order lol Overall, this is the budget blade of the year in my opinion.
+Feral Woodcraft get one for sure.
I can't wait to get this knife. It looks 👍
You get a BIG thumbs up and this blade performed very well for butchering a feral hog and deer last week . I am a big fan of high carbon , but see nothing wrong with this blade after building a brush shelter and flexing the "stuff" out of it . Thanks for your video my friend .
+Master Tracker thanks for the comment.
Best review so far imo
Is there anyway to conceal carry this thing?
Very nice jacket/outer wear you got there!
im here in south korea can i order in amzn
Great Review!
What backpack is that?
Can these be resharpened?
You were lucky to get it before they started gouging people with the $75 price tag. 420hc is good stainless steel but you can buy 420hc knives really inexpensively. All said, it's a quality knife with a huge following.
One exactly like that was just delivered today - will be my sons Christmas present....for his 72 hour bag....
+glockensig very nice gift.
My husband wants one but is iffy on buying one cause of blood slipping when he guts his deer or elk how does it do with blood on the handel
Handle is really grippy dry or wet.
i want to get this knife. the serrated model? Is it better? Or, any suggestions? I do a lot of weekend outback trekking
Serration is usually better for cutting rope so if you plan on cutting a lot of rope or cord yeah you can get the serration but if you're going to be using this is like you're fishing, hunting, camping tasks knife just get the straight edge, works better for cutting, skinning, and wood processing.
Why they made such a thin tang?
What is the bag?
Awesome knife built like a tank.
New to your channel, really like it!
+ebony5766 thanks, i appreciate it.
Hey brother-thanks for the review. Quick question when able - no homo but was that a Patagonia jacket? How about the gloves and hat set? Wondering if they were homemade or where you picked them up from?
The jacket is from Snugpak and the hat/gloves were handmade wool.
I got my 2024 3-15 I payed $137 where did you buy your at for$53
Good video. I haven't watch the gauntlet video of this knife, but after seeing this video, I might have to get myself one and throw it in the truck. Any idea what kind of small pouch that could be attached to the front for a few survival items? Keep up the great work.
+wjf213 maybe a universal light or multitool holder.
i think i gotta pick one of these up, thanks for the heads up bro
+TheBognordave DO IT!
Best thing about it is it comes in Coyote Brown. Or Desert Tan or whatever they're calling that. All knives should come in your choice of black, coyote brown, or olive drab.
have you tried it with wet hands? stupid question, but I wonder. Love the modularity of the sheath
+Ignacio Garcia Felury even better grip when wet.
Great video

what's that intro song?
Ver good review. Strong arm it's very good knife.excelent for the price and quality. Please make a review of the Polaris xs1 10"hunting survival knife. Great knife too
made of 12C27 steel ?
would you recommend getting it with the straight blade or with the serrations?
I would recommend serrations because it can cut a tough 1 inch thick rope pretty well with a clean cut.
Unfortunately if you are Canadian, I found this knife costs $99.99 CAD plus tax , at Cabbelas, or $125.00 CAD at Canadian Tire (plus tax-13%). I like it. I think the serated edge model is a usefull feature.
Very helpful video review!'
Just ordered one. Already have a prodigy
Your blades are always so sharp, is there a certain sharpener you use? Mine always seem to be sorta dull.
+XwafflewondersX worksharp or dmt sharpeners
okay, looking at 'em now but they are sorta pricey but they must work
My only disappoint in this knife is the horizontal carry set up as the handle sticks out too far from the body.
I little over a year ago I bought the Prodigy Gerber, with serrated edges, I did not like it was not too sharp,, sold it.. saw the fine edge version the other day, that’s the one I wanted I said to myself, (Walmart) so I got it again, this time it was way better, a little sharper, and the Non serated version, I sharpened it with a steak knive sharpener, now its sharp as a razor, Reall like the Sheath believe it or not, I owned the Strong Arm & sold it because I did not care for the Sheath, but liked the Knife, (I know I’m weird), now I want the Strong arm again too, 😆😆😆
This knife should win some kind of an award. It took all the abuse you guys put it through with a smile.
+Charles Collier it did take a beating for sure.
I like the coyote colour. I might get the serrated option.. Tnx. For the review.
+PREPFORIT coyote brown is my favorite color lately.
Hey Living Survival, I have a question. Did you make your gloves and hat? I really like 'em.
+XwafflewondersX they were a gift from a subscriber
Oh, ok thanks, they're still really cool btw
Love the review! What is the name of the intro song? It's pretty sick.
+deandre hamby not sure, sorry.
Great review. Thank you
thanks.
I'm getting the Gerber prodigy for Christmas from my girl. how do you feel about that knife I've heard great things
+84neilbone never played with one.
Serrated or fine?
What's is the brand od your backpack ? Which model do you have ?
source tactical double d
Gerber 420HC is good steel, much like the one used by Buck in my experience.
+TurtleWolf Pack use it and don't abuse it and it will work well.
Living Survival I think that goes for any quality steel!
