Maria, the rods etc. looks so invasive. I know a very petite small boned young girl that is going under the knife in January. What effect does it have on your range of motion? If they fuse many vertebrae how do you bend over?

I got this done when I was 13-14 I think back in 2003/04.. honestly as bad as it sounds in the surgery, you really don't notice it or feel pain at all. Tho that does depend on the person doing the surgery.. tho I did not know at the time that you won't grow anymore after it's done... so yeah that's the downside.. but hey better than suffering breathing or organ damage in the future. lol

You still have mobility once your full healed.. depends on the sport I think.. then again i was never into doing sports so I'm not really sure, I would suggest talking to the doctor about it all and see what you can and can't do afterwards. I got it done at an early age that it just became part of daily life for me.. so what's normal for me is probably different for other people.

I'm so depressed and it's now beginning to affect my hip on my left and my right knee.due to the way I'm walking and posture.
