I get where she's coming from, but that was toxic of her to not ask Mei's version of the story. That's literally the bare minimum to do when you can help someone who have been potentially assaulted.

But I felt the moment where she went to the convenience store so badly because I had a similar experience and I could NOT take it so I cringed and skipped the whole scene but couldn’t help but feel I missed a necessary part of the movie so I went and re-watched it

Actually, when we deeply view the aim plot for the main characters such as Mei and her friends, have definitely just a shallow reason to reach the goal. And the concert becomes a highlight or important view in the world for these pre teens. How cool is that? I love how this Pixar revealed the things going on to children now a days. Mei's mother is not at all perfect example to be a good mother. But she also has a point. And if Mei could also just be a good daughter, she could just tell her mother the first place the reason behind that she likes boys. Yet, the plot could've been there if that didn't happen. And how irritating it goes that she can also exchange her mom to those fans of hers influenced by her friends. It's a reality view, but different for the Movie itself. And still love it.
