Today I have a new and updated tutorial showing you how to make a cupcake base without a mold! I made one of these videos in 2014 and I thought I would make a better and improved version. I know a lot of beginners can find it challenging to make that perfect cupcake base and don't own a mold, so I hope this helps you in some way! Just remember to keep practising, especially if you don't get it "perfect" straight away :)

You can use a toothpaste cap.
I think it's great you did an update, people are always improving and if you come up with new techniques it's wonderful to share them. The freezer trick is a great idea to prevent it from warping. I need to grip a tad too hard still so whenever I try to make cupcakes I mess up the bases.

HeyItzBrianna Why would Australians celebrate Thanksgiving? It's a day to commemorate a peaceful dinner which the American pilgrims decided to invite the American Indians to instead of killing them. Only people celebrating it here would be expatriate Americans.
That was really helpful, I've been wanting to make cupcakes but I just never got the shape right because I don't have a mold, I hope soon I can make some. Also I have a question, do you know any alternatives for shading than chalk pastels, because they are extremely hard to find where I'm from?
Maybe Eye Shadow?
Eye shadow would work great or anything that has powder and pigment in it really. That's all chalk pastels are is powdered pigment crammed into a firm shape. You can use powder food colors as well. From what I know the powder food colors mix best with the liquid clay and that clear fimo stuff for colored drinks.

It's best to do after you've worked with it for too long and it's soft / sticky, if you're cutting a cane or something that you want to keep perfect shape, or getting something out of a mold that's too stiff.

I don't know if it can be put in the freezer sorry! I only work with polymer clay- Maybe ask a CZcamsr who is familiar with cold porcelain :)

Hannah Solideo u can do with air dry clay which is also known as cold porcelain I will have tutorials too 😊 it's the same method but u wanna freeze it only for 5 minutes not more than that if u keep it for more than 5 u will end up getting watery clay 😊 ( I experienced it) and also u have to do the details with a needle tool and after a half an hour again and again u must define the lines so it would not disappear if u don't follow any of the steps I mentioned u wouldn't end up having the same cupcake 😉 hope it helped u

Another way to make the cupcake wrapper is to push slightly on the charm with a bottle cap.
I tried it with air dry clay and it worked the second time I decided to do it again unfortunately it didn't work I'm trying to figure it out 😕
