En nuestro último antes de la mítica ruta de senderismo de Carros de Foc, visitamos la estación de trenes de Canfranc.
En 1928 se inauguró la estación de Canfranc, lo que significó que por primera vez España y Francia estaban comunicadas por tren. La prensa la bautizó cómo el Titanic de las Montañas, ya que la estación era la segunda más grande de Europa tras la de Leipzig.
La Segunda Guerra Mundial supuso la llegada del ejército nazi a la parte francesa de la estación de Canfranc, llegando de hecho a ondear la esvástica en el lado francés. Franco y Hitler pactaron la venta de wolframio español, esencial para reforzar los panzers alemanes, a cambio de toneladas de oro.
El servicio de transporte internacional dejo de funcionar en 1970, cuando un tren descarriló en el lado francés. Actualmente el complejo se está reformando con el objetivo de transformar la estación en hotel y Museo del Ferrocarril.
En Jaca podemos encontrar una de las ciudadelas militares renacentistas mejor conservadas de toda Europa.
Por último, hicimos una parada en Aínsa, uno de los pueblos más bonitos de España.

Hi Resia! Hope one day you could visit Canfranc. The Pyrenees are outstanding.
The best way to reach Canfranc from Dublín is take a flight to Barcelona.
Once there, you have to take a the AVE, the Spanish high speed train, till the city of Zaragoza. This journey will take you 1 hour and 41 minutes. I've recomend you to spend a few days in Zaragoza.
After that, you need to take another train, in this case a "Regional" train. It's said that the 4 hours journey till Canfranc is incredible, as you can enjoy the beatyness of the Pyrinees landscape.
