You have no idea how much respect I have for you right now.
This was the first song I heard from NF and it was two months after I lost one of my sons to an overdose. 😢 The line “I hate the way I remember you” was how I felt. My son battled addiction for 6 years, so we had some bitter times. Thankfully we never hung up without saying I love you, and we always hugged when together. December will be 5 years since he passed, and I am finally able to remember some of the great times we had. He was so much more than his addiction. My gentle giant. I do miss him but I also know that he is finally at peace.
You just keep loving on your daughter. You are doing a great job, and she will know that as she gets older!

I have two sons and I honestly don’t know how I would be able to handle it if this happened to one of them. I don’t even like to think about it. Thankfully, they’re 26 & 21 and, at least so far, they’re doing great. I pray they never experience addiction. I’m so sorry you lost your boy. ❤️

Unfortunately too many people can relate to this song . I only saw my dad a couple of times and I don’t remember him at all. I was fortunate to have a great mom who to this day has never said anything bad about him to me. You just keep being a great dad your impact on her will surpass the negative ❤❤❤
I'm sorry about your situation, but your daughter is lucky to have you, it looks like you really care about how this situation will affect her in the future, just keep showing her all your love and teach her she can come to you with any questions she may have that way she will also trust your answer that it was not her fault in any way shape ot form.

As men, we aren't used to feeling vulnerable. ever. We feel invincible as kids. Then we grow up and mature and our pride still convinces us that we're invincible. THEN YOU HAVE KIDS..and you feel true vulnerability for the first time. It's a tough adjustment that I don't think men talk about enough.
That's facts bro. I paused the video and knew exactly what he meant when he said he felt this for his daughter. Having kids gives you the ability to perceive into the future. He knows one that day his daughter may listen to this and be hurt by it. It's truly sad and I pray for dude. I pray God can help him through the hard times he as a single parent will face and grant him courage and strength of resolve so that he can come through the other side unscathed. @@SP-uh3cl I know what you mean bro, it was by far the most profoundly perception altering aspect of my entire life. People without children just don't understand, I'm not sure they really can until they have another humans life that completely depends on them. This man doing it alone pains me to see and I've never even met the guy. I can most definitely feel the emotional effect it will have on him in the future. Empathy doesn't describe it, it's true compassion. Which some people go their whole lives without ever experiencing.

I know as a kid I felt my parents were worthy of forgiveness for their drug use that kept them from raising me but as an adult I finally saw that the best parent I had were my grandparents and them keeping me away from my parents when they knew my mom and dad were on their worst benders was the best decision for me and I feel bad that I saw my parents as above my grandparents even though they didn't love me as much as drugs but you just want that feeling of real parental love even if it comes from a terrible place bc you want to feel normal and be raised by your real mom and dad not family or adopted parents bc you feel lesser than your peers who seem to have stable living situations but you never really know how people's lives really are until you in their shoes

I remember waiting at school with my whole hockey bag on a Friday while everyone left , eventually the teachers left and the principle called my mom and she came and got me , keep easing your daughter the right way bro 🙏 my mom never talked about my dad in a bad way around me but I knew how she felt, I felt it as I grew to understand.

I like you man, your not afraid to say what you feel and you obviously have empathy for others, my advice is when your daughter is old enough let her watch this video and it will tell her everything she needs to hear because you were saying what you thought and felt in the moment without thinking about it beforehand and second guessing yourself.

You are a great dad. You can help her not feel this way by explaining that adults are human and make horrible mistakes sometimes but it is a problem within themselves. My real dad abused us and left when I was 3. My step-dad abused me all my life. My mom didn't stop him. Adults screw up big time sometimes. It took me until I was a much older adult to forgive everyone. Hugs

I don’t want to judge but, as a mother myself, I can’t begin to imagine how a mother could willingly not be in her child’s life. The concept is completely foreign to me. Love your babies, people!
Yeah, your daughter is going to have some of the same feelings. But I can tell that you’ll fill the void she left as best you can. The fact that you gaf at all and think about how to help her with her feelings makes you a good dad. Love her. Love her, pay attention, and above all, drill it into her head that she can talk to you about anything and everything… no matter what. Never dismiss her feelings about her mom. Be open with her, age appropriate, because she will have more and more questions. Kids have a way of making everything that happens in their life about themselves. They find a way to make anything bad that happens their fault. It’s your job to make sure she knows that her mom not being there has NOTHING to do with her. She may not believe it or fully understand but the more work you put in to make sure she knows it’s not her fault, the better. Eventually she will be old enough to understand. Prayers bro.
Just give your daughter twice the love and surround her with love. Teach her life isn't fair, but to "decide" to focus on what she has, not on what she doesn't have. Teach her about forgiveness. Teach her about the Lord, Jesus Christ. She'll be aight.

Hey brother my mom left when I was 6 months I didn't see her again until I was like 35 when she was dying probably affected me in some way during my life but nothing noticeable it didn't affect me when she passed away. Find you a good woman you love that's accepting you having a daughter it's good that you have your mom and her life though she needs a woman in her life God bless you for being a good dad bro it's not easy men don't get the credit that woman get I don't think my wife passed away 2 years ago and it's me and my daughter and my son 16 and 17 and it's not easy something you never expect to be thrown at you I know it's different circumstances but I feel you brother you know you got the support from the squad much love brother
And you will continue to do a great job coming from my perspective of being a recovering addict. There were many times that I didn't want to contact my kids because of the guilt and shame but by no means am I giving her a free pass I spent 10 years of my life away from my children in prison so I know all too well and now they're adults. I just this kind of hit home. Heard this song for the first time when I was at Dayton correctional facility My daughter actually told me to get it on JPay and I cried about it for days and days and days. Can't hardly watch it without crying takes me back lost my ex-husband lost my family lost my kids lost my freedom lost my dignity, but I don't live like that today and have it for a really long time.
