At times our inability to make a decision one way or another can have a debilitating and demoralizing effect. How many opportunities have you missed due to being stuck, not knowing how to proceed. Acute and prolonged indecisiveness can also become a monster of its own, eliciting our fears, insecurities and bringing on a state of lethargy and avoidance of making important changes and moves in our lives.
What can we do about this?
Please join Rabbi Simon Jacobson as he tackles the great challenge of indecisiveness, exploring four different approaches people take when faced with adversity -- resignation, battle, religion, escapism -- and discover a fifth, time-tested method that will change how you see yourself and open you up to new possibilities you could never have imagined.

Rabbi, you are a precious stone to humanity, I love you my brother.
I’m not religious but I needed this. I’ve been stuck. Your storytelling sorted out mental blocks and brought me to a real higher place, like magic, but practical, too. Many thanks 💗💎💗
Excellent! 💖 Just wanted to mention a small detail. Judaism is not a religion, since you're not expected to believe in anything weird. We 100% KNOW and study the Creator by developing special tool, a 6th sense if you will, to perceive and experience it. It's similar to science: with a tool (microscope) you KNOW that atoms exist. You get the idea. I hope it helps!
YOU NEED TO GOD TO A NONDENOMINATIONAL CHURCH AND SING JEWS WERE DIVORCED AND DONT KNOW IT MUSLIMS ARE WORSHIPPING SATAN AND DONT KNOW IT .. I WAS GIVE JESUS SPIRIT AND I DO KNOW IT..
@@mikesamovarov4054 sounds legit to me- when I saw Independence Day in the 90's and heard the dad day 'I haven't spoken to God since...' idk if I remembered, or soon heard, or only intuited that Jews converse with God rather than offering ritualized petitions. As I began to try, I slowly began to know Him, not in this book or that place-of-worship, but before me and about me. It's still slow-going. 🤷♂️
No one really has to be "religious" to study and adhere to ancient texts. "Religion" is a meaningless term. I'd like to think of it as the universe giving itself in story forms that over epochs evolved within our cultures. But if we carefully study them, we will find truths that are embedded in the DNA of life. It repeats itself in different ways through many stories that are still being told and retold to this day.
It's a subject that really intrigued me when I began writing my screenplay. I picked up John Truby's Anatomy of Story, then later Anatomy of Genres, and it struck me as very peculiar how stories have conflicts that intrinsically speak to us. Stories that have stayed with us since the dawn of language.
This is just my opinion, of course. But it just reminds me why it's so useless for atheists and theists to argue with each other over whether there is or isn't a god. And when we view it as religion, it just confuses the entire thing. And everyone just gets lost in the plot, if you will.
@@migol1984 'Do you brush your teeth?'
'Yes, religiously.'
To do something religiously means committing to regular faithful practice. Irregular tooth-brushing destroys the point of maintaining constantly healthy teeth, just like irregular worship inclines a person to think only of God on the occasion of personal need. The literal meaning of the word 'religion' refers to binding - as does covenant, promise. You probably want to be bonded.
Such powerful words. Toda Raba🙏 may we all free ourselves from many kinds of slavery that our imagination bounds us to.

" Our challenge is to move forward."
The "Schwindeltreppe " is a great picture. I loved it as a child, it's like a game, turning and turning while ascending or descending.
Thank you for reminding - whoever could better teach this lesson than a jewish rabbi since your people experienced worldwide, what it means to be confronted with unbearable situations just 80 years ago.

Do not present the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and present the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness.
That's including your mind, thoughts , and every decision Rm613

Hello Sheli?
Thank you Rabbi
Thank you.
Hello from Portugal, thank you sir for the vídeo, have a good day. ✡️
Love this Rabbi thank you. There are lots of factors that go into choices. I'm going to bring up the subject of fear/intuition. These two qualities can be confusing to sense sometime. You mentioned there is huge dilemma to finding a "soul mate". Let me preface as well that this is also a relatively new concept brought into our mass consciousness by the Romanticism era of the last 200 or more years. Before that finding a "soulmate" in a human was probably looked upon as a mental illness since finding those qualities of the soul were usually directed in Spirituality or Religion. Since we have abandoned the social constructs of marriage and embraced the union based on compatibility the overwhelming onus lands on another person to satisfy our needs of the soul/love rather than their ability to become part of the great social fabric. Obviously I am paraphrasing here and we all know that one person cannot answer all of our needs. Here is why indecision become so ubiquitous in this area. Many people want to “feel” a certain amount of “passion” “desire” to make a decision. Yes one might find a partner that is compatible and warm capable of loving/being loved yet little ardor exists to make the fire burn, hence many people choosing the “wrong” people since they based it on “passion and desire” which wasn’t their fault, it was all they had as a way of feeling something strong enough to even commit. In addition all humans feel lonely and even though they can spend considerable time alone crossing the desert of solitary existence there does come a point when one stops at the oasis along the way which in this case is potential partner that is “good enough” and thinks that he/she will do since there is no more gas in the tank to cross the desert to the other side where your “soulmate” is waiting for you. “Don’t ever give up” is a common slogan we like to repeat but unfortunately there are times when we must give up but how do we know? How do we know when to have a bit more faith to meet opportunity around the corner and when we have exhausted our resources looking for something that makes us “feel” something strong enough so that we can commit? Of course over time all humans are faced with reckonings and must accept present conditions and learn to be happy. My question to you is this. Is “ Moving Forward” always the best way if you keep repeating the same cycle? And could you have career success, an adventurous life, many friends and family yet not find some one you truly love? And if so is when does “moving forward” finally stop? You can “move forward” until u die. Conversely if you “move forward” by choosing a partner that is “good enough” are u then cheating yourself out of a reality that you just didn’t work hard enough to make happen? Affairs of the heart can be sometimes more challenging than the jews in exodus or Masada. Survival usually empowers choice quicker. Having options are luxuries that we can get lost in.
Thanks, I needed that!
A very Powerful message. Thanks 🙏
Thank you as always!
Thank you Rabbi, that really is the story that defines all of life. Thank you for sharing. You helped me with this story and the knowledge you shared of this story today. Glory to G-d. Praise Hashem.

I got an award when I left sixth form college that said I was the most indecisive student they had ever taught. It was done in jest but I think they may have had a point.

a useful image used in this respect in mid-life for self was that of a small ship putting out from land and after a while encountering a storm - the decision to make was - since a port is necessary - should one return to the port came from? - or find a new one? good choice made.....all moved on....perfectly graphic while living the moments. Satisfying.
Thanks Rabbi. I just want to add that in hindsight even if how we chose to move forward may not have been the best option, Moving forward, even if just a little, is better than not moving it all. Basically, the glass half full or in other words, something to work with is better than nothing.
I have listening your video again. (litle bit focus for Englisch speak). You have right an I reconaise your story. It is the truth, come, go in movement an repairing balance. It is the truth, that fight an flight away can come up an meet what was create in thought/opinion. It can be as dream of illision. Yes, move forwards, let the light grow higher almost the pain, afraid isn't go away. It is sure, very sad an mind blow how human hurt the other human (al live). But live give beauty an it is in us an it deserved trust an love from own self. An when we let live go, let it be connection origon source of live.......a name as God can also be the name Love.
❤❤❤❤Baruch Hashem Toda!
Thank you :))
Tackle indecisiveness like David did Goliath
I don't have indecisiveness but this video must have been shown due to the "New to You" feature. I think its good for the young people out there.
I just have to say you're a genius
Hello what time to tune in in Ireland please? I don't see a time thank you 💜🍀🙂

Yeah I decided ima whip these germs into shape and take by force what I want like a king. 🗿

I became indecisive and don't dare to do anything after so many failed attempts in 30years. Now the only thing I can do is do manual stuff.

How to become a member.
Stories of Ordinary Courage may help us to keep leaping forward. THANKS MUCH
I think putting on a face Mask sometimes helps me to brace myself, with some courage.
As children, we were constantly afraid of simple challenges, but as adults we still need pushing...

I have a friend, who spent his last 30 years in psychiatry, in and out, spent a lot of money on different therapies, tried suicide....So you are saying he should move forward....but the problem is, that he needs a Miracle for this...

I'm not familiar with the tradition. I am curious whether a video would be considered a kabalah. which I understand to be the transmition of wisdom via spoken word. That is to give someone understanding as opposed to information. To see and hear someone's reactions and questions to what they have been told, to adjust and explain where there is need be. A video, just like a book, is just information. A consumer of your words could misunderstand and / or be confused, and your words wouldn't address either.
Me writing a comment, asking a question, is of course more than a book, or a video but not all do comment, and not all comments are answered.
Indecisiveness == doubt ??
I understand there is an a big overlap but there too many other factors as well
Trust in Hashem
Edit: & Move Forward
2ndEdit: But it's so hard... but that's what lives about... if it were easy we as a species were nowhere... [&ikimnwhr)
Rabbi, why did Isreal do this to Palestine? Is it fair? What’s the resolution? Can’t we be conflict free in this lifetime?
I don't believe in kabbalah, seems to me HaShem condemned such practices in Torah
Hashem is literally “The Name.” It is neither the name of God, nor is it, in fact, “God” avoid speaking either one!? Is it true?
"Jewish mystic philosophy," 1520s, also quabbalah, etc., from Medieval Latin cabbala, from Mishnaic Hebrew qabbalah "reception, received lore, tradition," especially "tradition of mystical interpretation of the Old Testament," from qibbel "to receive, admit, accept." Compare Arabic qabala "he received, accepted." ?!
Etymonline
Kabbalists say Moses, Abraham, etc, were Kabbalists. In Kabbala, Torah is a sacred Kabbalic text.
Thank you Rabbi!
