  • Visit www.InsideTheMa... for more about the updated Test Track ride!
    This video takes you on a complete walk through the updated Test Track queue, on the ride, and around the post-show areas. Included is the interactive queue Chevrolet Design Center in which guests virtually create their own custom car designs based on a variety of attributes, then take that design with them on the ride to see how it scores. The post-show area was not 100% finished when this video was recorded (12/1/12) so the photo area and driving game were not yet available, but the Chevy showroom is seen along with the gift shop. The ride portion features binaural audio, so wear headphones for the best viewing experience.

    Wait. Test Track 2.0 opened in 2012, The Same Year that EPCOT turned 30. The Same Year EPCOT opened, "Tron" was released. In 2012,"Tron" Turned 30 Years Old.
    Oh My God.
    The "Tron" aesthetic of Test Track 2.0 was an INTENTIONAL TRIBUTE TO TRON!
    Or Maybe it's just a coincidence.
    Either Way, Great Update of A Great Ride.

    After watching videos on both versions of Test Track, I honestly prefer this version. The old one seemed kinda outdated and a little bland. I mean, parts like the temperature test rooms and the near-collision with the semi truck (the latter of which they still have) were very cool, but the other tests (for instance; braking, turns, etc.) were kinda slow with the constant braking and turning. Besides, wasn't the idea for the original conceived back in '76? Almost 40 years ago! Technology and automobile tests have totally changed since then. This one seems more current. I'm reading that people hate this because of TRON. The only features that remind me of Tron are the neon light effects. Just so you know, the sponsors over at GM (Chevrolet is one of their brands) helped the Imagineers with features of the update. I'm sure they know what they're doing, they've been a sponsor of the pavilion since October 1st, 1982.
    Don't agree? Then I prefer the World of Motion.

    • @andmos1001
      @andmos1001 Před 9 lety +1

      They have to do braking and turning test to day to. Also it would be fun to see a car get smashed before the acual smash. Also, to much torn like. I like the consept of designing your own cars. But they have removed some elements that is still crusual to car designs and testing.

    • @MikeJehmszClassic
      @MikeJehmszClassic Před 9 lety +1

      Anders Mostue There are some things I didn't know about car tests before typing that Comment... IDK if they will update it soon because so far it's still a huge hit in Epcot. GM has been sponsor since 1982 and when the guests want to see something new, that's when they know when to Update it. It would be cool to see a car-smashing scene.

    • @andmos1001
      @andmos1001 Před 9 lety +1

      Well, cars testing as of today standard has to pass several types of testing before any mass production: The weather testing, heat and cold testing for the engine. The wheels as of how much beating they can take and how fast they can get the car. The aerodynamic of the car. Brakes at several different speed including how fast the car stop at 100km/h to 0. How good the car turns at several speeds including a 90 degree turn at 45 km/h in both directions. The speed limit and acceleration from 0 to 100km/h. And of course the crash, which is the most crucial point in car design.

    Before comments start slamming me for my opinion, I gotta say I really enjoyed Test Track when I rode it October 2015 and May 2016
    It was fun competing against other vehicles and seeing the ride updated this way for me. I was kinda glad that this update didn't have a cheesy backstory and instead it was straight forward and fun for the most part. And I don't mind backstories for rides , but having backstories gets annoying if you ride the ride multiple times.
    Although I will say I wish that the update had a better effect at the capability test instead of sounds and little fans unlike the older version which actually made you feel hot and cold. I'd also like to say that I like how the older version was a bit more realistic, for example, the signs on the ride were like real road signs. The same also goes for the Eco-friendly efficiency part as that was just being scanned with some effects.
    But all in all I love both versions and each are fun in their ways and I'm glad that the Test Track was updated.

    Considering Epcot is all about the future. This update was needed badly. The old Test Track was amazing, don't get me wrong, but it was outdated and quite bland compared to what Epcot is about.
    I'm glad they updated it. They wouldn't have done it if they thought it was going to fail. Disney knows what's up. They aren't stupid.
    I'm yet to go on this new one though. I went in 2007, 2008 and 2011 and all 3 times, I rode the original Test Track and loved it! Hopefully might go back in 2016 and ride this bad boy.

      Callum Fletcher While I agree Tech Track may have been a bit out of place with it's old design considering it was in Future World, I'm not happy with the new look. It's far too sleek.
      To me, Tech Track is about showing what the testing process of our cars is. The old clutter and disarray of having the rid in such a warehouse - like setting added to this theme. This new thing is a bland forgettable test track wannabe.
      I can agree that Test Track could have used an update, what with all the new technology in our cars, but this.......THING..... if this is what tech track is now, then I cannot acknowledge this ride exists anymore. This was not an update. This was mutilation of everything Test Track was trying to do, and what it was.

      +Will Davis I know, I know, but......it's just such a huge departure from the original style, and maybe it's because they want a "simulation" feel to it? It's in this weird hybrid land of Future-but-still-tangible, and I think it suffers because of that. If they want to make it all futuristic and digital simulation to test against your own car, then I don't think they went far enough.

I went to Epcot for a day and rode this ride twice. The second time the ride broke down for maybe 10 minutes but the ride makes up for it completely. My favorite part is the fast part just before the power section where the door barely opens. Me and my friends all love this ride.

      I'm ok with the 2.0 update for the same reasons that the OP mentioned. In fact, I'm fine with as many updates as they want to make, AS LONG AS they don't eventually turn it into some Disney Frozen bullshit like they did with the Norway Pavilion. EPCOT was not meant to be just another expansion land of the Magic Kingdom. Walt would NEVER have approved of the crap they're doing to his theme parks across the world.
      DCA is no longer a California Adventure. It's just another breeding ground of plugging in rides based on Disney characters rather than an actual California adventure.
      And I fear EPCOT may soon be following suit. Frozen, taking over Maelstrom, is just the beginning :(.
      Oh, and don't even get me started on what they've done and what they are going to be doing to Universe of Energy. I'm also looking at you, The Living Seas.

    I had trip to Florida last weekend. And me and my Dad were waiting in line for an hour or two. We were ready to leave. But, we didn't. Since there were no other exits. We got into one of the cars and I said to my Dad, "This better be worth it..". I do admit it was really fun. What sucked is that the ride is so short, but the wait was so long.. ;-; /sobs, my feet hurt so bad.
    The ride actually gave me pain in my chest .. although the ride was fun.. I don't think I would go back. Hahaha .. from what I heard from others who've rode Test Track in the past, the line to the ride has always been that long! It's crazy.

    Actually, I liked the old one because it looked more realistic and yes, it was outdated, but this ride isn't fun for younger kids anymore. I think it just looks confused. I liked how it looked like you were really testing the car in the facility, going through the trees, the brake test, hot and cold test, and I don't even really like the new car feature. It doesn't REALLY change the car, it just kills time in line. I know a lot of you are going to disagree, but a lot of you are also going to agree, so whatever. This is my opinion.

    For everyone saying how they ruined the ride.. think about it this way. The old Test Track was outdated. It didn't belong in Epcot's "Future World". Imagineers got the idea for the old test Track by visiting a car testing facility back in 1976. Yes, 38 years ago. And by the original opened, it was already outdated by 22 years. Please tell me how saying the old one was better makes any sense. Yes, it had more of a story to it, but it needed to be changed from the beginning. It was showing how cars were currently being tested. If you didn't know, Epcot means "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow". Yes, "tomorrow" meaning not "today". Even though it may not look like an actual car being tested now, it still fits Epcot's theme much better than before. If you think the old one was more futuristic than the one shown in this video, you need help.

    To be fair, I would say that I like both V1.0 and V2.0 of this ride. I am a fair person!
    V1.0 - This was educative because it taught kid's some of the basics to building and testing a vehicle. It also had a good ride because of the fun rough-surfaces, hot and cold chambers, etc.
    V2.0 - This is educative and fun for children because it allows them to design a car, and test it out. This has a good ride because of the vivid colours and stuff.

The new queue is neat, but the car designing part is just a way to keep you occupied while you wait in line, and it literally has no effect on the actual ride. They didn't even bother to change the freaking ride vehicles. Its not worth more than a 15 minute wait, ESPECIALLY if you've ridden the original, but since its at Epcot which has like 3 rides, the wait times will always be long.

    My biggest fear about Test Track is that one day, like Disney did with the Norway Pavilion, and every ride in Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim, and Universe of Energy at EPCOT, and The Living Seas at EPCOT, and the Mexican Boat Ride at EPCOT, they will change Test Track into some BS Mickey's Car Ride of Fun. I just see it happening. I know there's already a Cars Land and stuff like that in DCA, but I fear the worst. Disney is slowly selling out to their own movies and it makes me sad to see Epcot possibly be consumed by this assenine behavior.

    Test Track is in a portion of the park devoted to the Future. The old ride was thematically inaccurate. It took place in the 90s, in a portion of the park called Future World. I can' t believe Disney strayed so far away from the appropriate theme that you guys actually think a ride grounded in the present is appropriate for a park that is essentially a large Tomorrowland.

  • @thedrumman64

    It's completely rethemed so that you create a vehicle, and then get to ride it in a sim environment. It's awesome! I loved the old TT, but this is so much better, in all 3 phases...preshow, ride and so much in postshow. The Disney fan boards are raving about this because it's Tron like, old school Epcot Center, and just a much better experience all 'round. Don't judge from a video...judge after you ride it.

  • @blackjac5000

    I did it twice during my last trip there, because if you do the single rider line in order to avoid the wait of the standby line, you have to pick from a stack of predesigned cars rather than get to design your own. That being said, the one I designed on my second run wound up being the most responsive one they had that day. Plus you can E-mail a quick video of your car home, but download it from the site quick because it gets purged after 30 days.
