At @23:25 you have discovered what we call in the USA a "Hoosier Cabinet"- this brand is a Hygena Kitchen Cabinet. Generally were made from 1890's to 1930's. Looks like maybe just the top section? They were like the kitchen workstations of their day, holding flour for baking (that's a flour dispenser @24:56). There were slots for glass or tin spice containers @23:46, and storage all baking needs. Edit: When you are upstairs @35:22 those green spice containers look like they belong in the Hygenia cabinet round slots. Someone already commented on the cool flip over Shopping List @23:57 ! The bottom part of the cabinet would have a wood or enamel top pull-out work top for bread making, biscuit making, or other activities, and more cabinet storage. These are being refinished and have become popular again with today's Vintage and Antique appreciators. Wow 😮 what a lot of gems in that cottage. These are the best explores ever, I’d be in that place for hours looking at everything. I really hope no one comes in and steals or vandalise the cottage.
There was masses of stuff in there some very personal things. A few days after we had been it had been sealed up.
I am so glad you found family to save the place! The history and finds are remarkable! Some day later in time people will see just where and how life was! Hardship, wealth, life and death! From young to old. Sad but things happened that way and the history here will be safe for everyone to see years from now. Thanks Matt and Andy ... the history is saved for future generations! 👍💕
loved that house the thing inside the door that has the names of bread biscuits and stuff on it was a shopping list the pegs at the side of the item was clicked over to it showing thats what was needed to be brought if the pegs /pointers were not pointing at anything then it was not on the shopping list
Yes, and the central canister would store flour
The big tin in the middle of the cabinet might be for flour and the list inside the door is for reminding yourself what items of groceries you might need, that’s what the little tin arrows are for. 👍🐾🥰🐾🥰🐾🥰

The large cabinet with the kitchen things in it is called a Hoosier cabinet in the states. The thing you thought was coffee grinder, is for flour, and the granite ware top should pull out. They kept flour, sugar, tea, spices and used it as a station to prepare food. It truly is wonderful. Here in the states, antique lovers covet them.

House explores are my favorite. You learn alot about someone's life on a personal level. I have all of my great grandparents photos and scrapbooks. Collection's of newspapers. My grandfather's draft card. The ship manifest from when my great grandad came to America at age 2. The receipt of my grandmother's wedding rings. He bought it in NY city. right before he was shipped off to war. I can't bear to think of it all left behind like this. I suppose some people aren't as sentimental. Or the rest of the family is not aware of these items?

That cabinet is a bakers cabinet.. the bin is a flour sifter and the strange list with prongs on the door is the grocery list! In the US here in the Midwest they are called Hoosier Cabinets.

Another great video guys, I always look forward to your videos on Sunday, this house was full of memories, antiques, it’s so sad to see all the old photos just thrown on the floor, the picture of the old woman and younger woman reminded me of grandmother and granddaughter, the picture probably stood proud on grandmas fire mantel at one point, to see it on the floor covered in dust and cobwebs now is heartbreaking, I’d love to go back in time and watch the day to day life’s as they lived and grew in the house, it is very sad but at the same time I find it fascinating, beautiful English countryside, breathtaking. In the beginning in the stables I think you were referring to the 'tack' like the bridle and the saddle so you were kind of right lol! Also I have never seen horse tack like that before so it could be for horse driving like carriages and things! I love your videos been here since 6k I feel like you have grown so fast but you deserve it keep up the great work💙

The thing on the cupboard door. That lists items is a shopping list. You flip the white metal arrow thing over, then shows red side. Everything with red is then your shopping list. My great Nan used to use one.

Looks like you found an old grain mill. The grains were put inside and then there must have been a lever or a wheel to move the grinding parts inside, and for the flour there used to be a pot or bowl underneath it...Thank you. It was fun. I love cats.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in previous comments but inside the cabinet, the list of boot polish, cakes etc is a shopping list where you flip the tag/arrow towards supplies needed.

The tabs on the back of the cabinet doors are for a grocery list. The normal foods back then were soups an such. I may be in the U.S. in Indiana but when my gram passed away in 82, we inherited my great grams an their parents before them, se real items an in the midst of all the items was a cabinet with those tabs. Along with that a hand written paper that matched the tabs. That's the only reason I knew that but of information. Btw I'm new to your channel and I have to say you've taken me back many times in the past few days, to my childhood. Like the Ker-plunk game. 1971 Christmas. The 1st year if running water, indoor plumbing for us. We moved from the dairy farm where all of us kids were born and raised, to a real home with updated appliances lol I'm the youngest if 23, a retired artist, and veterinarian assistant as well as game warden. So let me just end this with, I appreciate your humor as well as all the totally awesome finds. Omg I could spend hours going through those old farm houses. An you tell Andy my old kitty died not that kitty either LOL died 2 days before this last Christmas. So be nice to the 4 legged pussys for he never knows he could be reincarnated into one an be born with no tail 😂 xx

I just love these old places! Such history just going to waste. I’m like Andy, thinking my Mum had one of those.. lol. I wish she was still alive, she would love exploring these old home! Plus she would be a wealth of knowledge. That cabinet I think, is a Hosier Cabinet. Similar to a Pat try. The metal container in the middle is where you would put flour. The washstand was amazing!
I’ve never seen one like, that in such good condition. Please continue going off the beaten track, finding these hidden gems!

Wow those people did live a hard way of life... but it was what the knew.... sooooo fricking interesting!!! Precious items from so far back... They obviously never threw anything out! Just added on over the years n years!!!!! Great find!!!!

I’ve contacted a relative via ancestry and the place was sealed this week
@@FINDERSBEEPERS someone was in there again today. If that's the case that relative has sealed it up then they must of broken in to gain entry . Wonder why the relatives left 2 arn's of ashes containing thier loved ones in that property for years ? The arn's were found by another explorer obviously the relatives don't care about the property to leave it for as long as they have.
I’m not sure how they have managed to get in because I have got photographs of it sealed up with concrete blocks

No family members have bothered with that place for ages why would they suddenly be bothered now ? They should of bricked it up and secured that property in the first place and they should of taken the personal artifacts and sentimental things like the photos etc for safekeeping instead of just leaving it all to rot or get vandalised and trashed.
Loved this explore, it told the story of a working families life. How they lived from day to day, what was important to them. Thank you for taking us with you.

Another great video guys. I've finally managed to get through all your videos right from the start. Although it's the urbex I enjoy the most I do miss the metal detecting vids but I can understand and appreciate why you stopped doing them. I've lost count of the times while watching that things have popped into my head only for Andy to say exactly the same thing, clearly we have the same sense of humour (not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing - answers on a postcard please.......). Anyway, keep it up (the videos 🙄 what did you think I meant) and I'll look forward to seeing you on the next one..!!!

Me my wife & daughter went in this one last April , while we were in there an old chap dressed in farmers overalls came and topped up the cats feeding bowl while we were hiding in one of the bedrooms then we saw the cat when we were leaving it must have belonged to the old owners 😢

I actually enjoy the small cottages and farmhouses. Their just so personal, and I love seeing old trinkets and things. The mansions and halls are pretty spectacular, but most of the time there's nothing in them. But the cottages do look like you've stepped back in time and everyone just left without their belongings.

Thanks for being so respectful to their things. I would love to explore some of those places. So many beautiful things, so sad it’s rotting there and being damaged by persons who just don’t care of history.

It's a shopping list on the inside of the cupboard door, they would move the arms for what they needed, & the dispenser is a tea dispenser, as tea would of been expensive

Pretty kitty. Cats can survive by themselves for quite a while. It's a tame kitty so it belongs to someone perhaps a neighboring farm

The old sixpence went out of circulation in 1971. i remember it because I was small and used to take the old halfpenny pieces to the corner shop and the bloke was shortsighted and thought they were the new 2p pieces. Boy did we have plenty of sweets from them. Most of the old coins went out of circulation by 1980
