I tried this. I cut a link off the "foot" of the plant that was about 2 inches with a leaf attached to it. Then put it in a small seed-planter and placed it near my humidifier and for the first few days I gave it a decent amount of water then started to back off and water when necessary (when the soil is dry or barely moist) and kept it in bright indirect light. So far it's doing great, the foot hasn't started to grow yet but a whole new leaf has grown and its starting to get full. This method works

Great video, good to see propagating Rabbit foot ferns step by step in action, I’ve tried it and fronds are popping up, I like the background music as well.

Do you have images of the little ones that you tried to root? I’d like to see if they lived

i didn't realize you could lightly bury the rhizomes. (i saw your response to toby's comment) Good to know. I'll have to try that next time. i pinned some .5 inch (1.25 cm) cuttings to the top of soil of a tiny pot and gifted to a friend last year. She actually just sent me a photo giving me an update on how its grown! I don't know why I assume propagating the little rabbit feet would be difficult. 💛🌱

I've read elsewhere that we should not burry the rhizomes (the fury feet) as they are above ground roots. Others say burying them causes root rot. Can you please speak to your experience having done this?

Hi Toby, and those above that were discussing this (apologies for the late reply!). This is the method I have used multiple times and I've never had anything but success. I think the key is to use a small enough pot that root rot will be highly unlikely in such a small amount of potting mix. As you continue to pot on, you should make sure to not to bury the roots too deep and always allow the top layer of soil to completely dry out between waterings. Once active growth begins the roots will find their own way above ground!
N.B.: I am in Australia, so my experiences are based on working in a warm climate. The best practice may therefore vary if you live somewhere colder. I'd try both and see what works best!

Thank you- I just received a cutting of a foot today! So you cover the foot completely with soil? I wasn’t sure!

I'm not sure this is right... the other sources I see on propagating say that burying the foot will cause it to rot. This is confusing.
