I went to TWS. They are the best and help me out so much. I cannot thank them enough. I love welding, it’s in my heart. Kase and I were in the same class. I still remember many of my classmates. Miss you guys

@target5347 What wire and size is this? Got a ceramic test tomorrow on .52 Flux I’m used to 1/16” so I don’t even know the starting settings.

@@jessebeall4523 i was using .045 in this video. So your probably gonna want to run around 30-34 volts and around 300-350 wire speed

I was an instructor there back in 2015. We all have our own techniques. I do not like running my root as cold as he runs it, but it is entirely up to your preference. Reason behind that is as you run slower and colder you sometimes will have too much build up and and risk not breaking down the walls completely, some tests require a certain number of passes. Keep that in mind. All in all good job by this instructor.
Thanks man I appreciate that! Had to run it a bit cold for the .045 wire and the ceramic backing was donated for the video, so it turned out to be a bit wide, hence, colder root pass

@@21donutave83 so far retirement it's okay I also retired from the National Guards here in National city ca I really don't do much just kick back Homar.when you have an idea write it down in a peace off paper so won't forget it and the more you see it the better you'll understand it when you're ready take it to your supervisor and see if you make extra money Good Luck

Im a shipyard welder before and man i really miss it. You need to stay at the top of the puddle and burn the ceramics to achieve a good result.
yeahhh, I miss the shipyard too. But at least as an instructor, i show up to work clean and I leave clean lol

I’m getting my butt handed to me, ITS ALL CERAMIC BACKING!

Hey Mike, how are things? And we dont teach ceramic backing simply because it is very expensive. A whole box (which at school would probably last a day) is around $600+

should according with the base metal thickness. normally , if the Thk. is 1inch, the current be used approximately 220~240

I keep messing these up on tests. Either the ends have porosity or it just blows through.
Make sure you keep the same nozzle distance at the beginning and end. A lot of people roll their wrists either at the start of end of the weld
What wire are you running, because I got take a test for 101T wire never done it
It usually runs the same. Just a bit more of a watery puddle. I was welding 71-T Ultracore .045

Not yet thankfully. But when you know how to not mess yourself up, it helps a bit

Should I assume he went a little hotter on his hot passes? He never said if he dialed it up after the root pass.
I did. Bumped it up a little to 22.5 volts and 225 wire speed
