This album can't be beat. I do agree that the alternate takes are fantastic and stand on their own merit. Sometimes it is hard to remove the original songs we hear on the album from their unshakeable position. I haven't listened to the remix (!) next to the original yet, but to me, it sounds cleaner yet maintains the vibe. Garth Brooks did cover Feel My Love not long after this was released and it is terrible. Bob at his darkest is Bob at his best. Garth just pretends. I'm very touched by the shout out 🙏.
Garth is Garth. I enjoy some of his work, but his Dylan cover is a cash grab. My only hope is it lead others to discover Bob's work. Your words, your descriptions of the songs as well as the details you offer, always impress me. You make me want to discover new music (or in this case, revisit a classic with fresh ears).
