This woman was not only one of the greatest and most spiritual musicians I ever heard...she was also one the most beautiful human beings I ever saw...AND she drove a Jaguar Type E!! I´m speechless...
She was an amazing being :) and that Jaguar was John's old car!!! www.pinterest.com/pin/643029653018849507/
John was very fortunate to meet his soul mate in Alice, even for a few years on this earth.
I love that the modern artist Flying Lotus imbues so much of her into his music since she was his grandmother. He makes it spiritual, cosmic and ancient while making it electronic. He incorporates the Harp into his work a lot, and it’s almost like it’s Alice Coltrane’s spirit gently guiding him to the spirit realm for inspiration… and I’m not even religious either but that’s what I get from it
Alice was his great-Aunt. Agree 💯 about her influence coming through in his music.
Wait what? FLYING LOTUS IS A COLTRANE?! You've totally blown my mind. Now THAT is cool.
I have been drawn to John Coltrane's music for years, but now that I have discovered Alice Coltrane it's a whole new life, and a new world. I was asking the Universe for some light and here it is. ✨
R.I.P. Pharoah.
These two creative geniuses are the definition of kindred spirits
The Perfect Relationship: John and Alice Coltrane... what devotion
I have never seen this footage & needless to say its absolute gold ~ thank you thank you!! Alice Coltrane is one of the greatest musicians/composers of all time; that she’s under the radar at all is a tragedy. She radiates as much beauty & profound spirituality as her music, it’s so special to behold
Alice Coltrane was a deeply mystical genius. Journey in Satchidananda is my favorite jazz record and in my top 10 albums.
thank you for sharing this. so good to hear Alice Coltrane speak on live and her music.
Great historic film, I never saw Alice highlighted like this before, thanks for sharing.

Quotes attributed to Alice Coltrane
That this feels relevant for so many of us still in 2020, is such an amazing thing
Wonderful! Her albums are excellent. Ptah, Journey, Eternity... all golden masterpieces.
Thank you for sharing, over the last years I started to collect her records, which seem to be out of this world, so divine. I did this intuitevly without knowing much about her. This is the first time I see a documentary about her, and I am very happy that she is such a kind, beautifull and deeply spiritual soul. If only more people get this music, the world would be a better place. RIP turiya
This couple was phenomenal, a gift to the universe!! Your music will live on forever in the hearts of many! BRAVO!! 👏🎹🎶
the tears that flow from me because i can finally see her... I wish i could see John too.. but thank you for this!
Blessings To You. I saw this today for the first time. Tears of kinship and love fell as well. What a tremendous gift.
Alice is a great harp player but really love her piano playing..
I too was fortunate to visit the Ashram and film her last performance in N.J.Pac.
Her music is so beautiful
Now we talkin, Alice Coltrane!! Yes! I haven't heard this since I was a teenager!
❤Much Gratitude ✨🙏🏿✨I miss this Beautiful Goddess immensely✨ Total Grace in her presence 💐✌🏿✨
This brought back great memories. This was totally my bag when I used to perform jazz back in the 60s and 70s.
The only photos I've seen of John smiling were with Alice. Despite the controversy of his playing in the last year of his life, I think he was a happy man, totally free of the need for approval by some audience.
@@MrHamtits His quartet (and many fans) felt alienated by his new music and left him
Such an inspiration. Love Alice. She was somethin else
THANKS A LOT for this FANTASTIC Footage . Alice Coltrane with Pharoah Sanders INCREDIBLE Performance !!!

I've just learned that Stan Lathan (vétéran director and producer and actress Sanaa Lathan's father) directed this vidéo and another one about Max Roach and Abbey Lincoln. I want to see it!

Alice? You're beautiful! And I'm your follower.
Wowww
Great. Thank you. I wonder what became of the Coltrane children...
Ravi Coltrane is a successful jazz saxophonist. Start your research there.
As someone pointed out, Ravi is a successful musician. He’s matured over the years quite a bit in his playing for sure. Really solid. Not 100% sure what Oran does. I saw him briefly play with Alice and Ravi in the early 2000s at Joe’s Pub in NYC. John Jr passed away in a car accident many years ago. Michelle sings and has a few albums out.
@@slntwtchr John Jr was dead at very young age. Oran is a guitar player, composer and DJ (not jazz) : gsgcreativemusic.wordpress.com/2014/09/27/exclusive-interview-with-oranyan-coltrane/
nothing'll be this cool again.
Elle est mon âme 🙏 !!!!!!
what's the track in the background at the beginning? sublime harp playing from alice afterwards
I hear what sounds like Pharoah on soprano, possibly audio clips recorded before the show later? They don't sound like anything released. The tune they start with in the band in Coltrane's "Africa" from Africa Brass.
Africa Brass Sessions original LP was Africa Brass, now its out in expanded form on CD, you can hear those motifs there. The LP contains very evocative arrangements with Eric Dolphy.
MiqelDotCom if you figure out what that song is, let me know. It sounds amazing
DL Jonsson the beginning song sounds amazing, do you know the name of it? Thank you
Spiritual person. I think I like more music I've heard from Alice than John.
A love supreme
She's a good lass.
:-)
What is the song at the beginning called?
what is that song in the beginning when they are introducing Trane and his legacy? That's definitely him playing? Or is it Pharaoh? It's a beautiful melody. Please help me identify!!!
Alice Coltrane is such an exquisitely beautiful soul. Hearing her describe the experience of oneness with the Most High was deeply moving. And, seeing her with her babies, so bravely carrying on after her husband's ascension truly warmed my heart.
