- Neil Young & Promise of the Real perform “Rockin' in the Free World” at Farm Aid 2019 at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin, on September 21.
Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid’s board of directors in 2001.

More thoughts. Please somebody organize a big day long concert(s), like Live Aid and Farm Aid. This time to preserve Truth and Democracy. Autocracy just around the corner ? Rights being taken away. Liers every where. So many kids getting shot up. Would love to see at least one day devoted to saving truth and democracy. Music can change the world. God bless Neil. Dude it’s Neil Young what do you expect. Every time he does the solo in this song it’s a bigsby heavy out of tune distorted conglomeration. But that’s what makes it cool, the beauty of it is there’s no right or wrong way to play it. If you really know Neil, he never does the same thing twice.
