ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on CZcams and decided I could have a go and now here we are!

When I had my first, I was more shy about breastfeeding in front of people, when I had my second, (she is now five), I no longer cared either. Like, my kid has to eat, if you don't like it, go somewhere else

Lizzy has come a long way she used to hide from the camera whenever Cammy pointed it at her. Now Lizzy is still shy, but she doesn't try to hide anymore and can be persuaded to speak to the camera.

Plenty of people will raise just a few milk breed sheep for their milk production to drink, same with goats. Just depends what people are looking for. Me I'd had to go for goats since I'm allergic to sheep wool

Looks like it's a tough lambing session no matter what part of the world you're in. Watching Sandi over on Sheepishly Me and you here -- it seems the lambs and ewes are having a rough go at it. Love seeing the contrast between your two setups -- both work equally well. Your sheep breeds are neat too -- love the Mules, Blacknoses, and of course the Texels -- the bull dogs of the sheep world. We've used a Texel/Dorper ram the last 2 years and the lambs have been little tanks.

I'm from a farming family on my dad's side but unfortunately my grandad died and they had to sell the farm. But other relatives are still farming

How do you decide which sheep lamb indoors and which lamb in the field?
Also, I love Lizzy! She seems like the strong silent type... She has to keep you lads in line after all.
He said on the live vlog he did (well I think it was on that) that he does the singles and triplets indoors. That way it makes it easier for him to take one of the triplets away and give it to one of the singles.

Of course people are scared of Lizzy she's carrying a knife! 🙂 I love animals so much I'd be crying over the lost sheep and baby lamb! I'd never get the rest of the work done! I've got a ton of respect for all farmers, the long hours and hard work and very little recognition for it!
We keep fresian sheep for dairy. Super sweet creamy milk. Damn sure easier to keep a diet sheep than a dairy goat!

I live in Pennsylvania, USA & my girls & I milk our sheep everyday. They are not dairy sheep, they are Tunis Romney cross & a Hamspire Natural Colored cross but their milk is delicious! We get about 1 1/2 cups each a day. We also have made cream cheese & yogurt from it.

It's interesting how the ewes are undecided as to whether to stay & protect the lambs, or take to their heels & protect themselves.
They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you have taught me something. Had a very big single this morning with one leg back, and for the first time I put 2 fingers up the bum to get the head out. Worked like a dream. Then cord around the neck to pull it off. Mother and daughter absolutely fine. Thanks for your help cammy. Don't forget to look after those amazing Whiteface Dartmoor Sheep. Cheers.

Lizzy is just the job, it wouldn’t do to have two extroverts in one household, and she holds the fort when you go off on your adventures. We rent our farm out now, but keep the fences in good order for livestock. You get plenty of action with the fences you have to cope with.

That was the best. You guys have a great day. The temp. Was one of those do you not ware rain gear as we call it here in the states and not get rain wet but sweat like everything. Other chose no rain gear and get rain wet. I do agree great for the grass. Was looking like western Washington state weather. I agree love Lizzy and everyone you have helping are the best.

Genuinely cannot say enough complimentary things about Lizzy! The way that she always seems to just identify what needs doing and gets it done without fuss. An absolute legend. (I think the world is often a little unkind in judgement to those of us who are a little more reserved, so I've always appreciated seeing Lizzy and all she does.)
