After her hair is cut off, the witch actually banishes Rapunzel to a desert where she eventually gives birth to twins before the prince finds her and takes them all back to his kingdom to live happily ever after while the witch slowly dies all alone up in the tower

They started out as stories adults told each other while working in the fields and then over time as the stories trickled into children's nurseries to teach kids lessons, the stories became WAY more sanitized and when big companies like Disney came along, they only contributed to the sanitization of fairytales and folktales even more
