The "Nine Months" gag seems pretty obvious now, but I was blissfully unaware. Plus, as Brenda and Corny are seen arguing earlier, and it's heavily implied that he's her baby daddy.

After the remake of Hairspray earned nearly $120 million at the box office, Waters wrote a wild treatment for a sequel titled Hairspray 2: White Lipstick. The script moved the characters into the late 1960s and called for, among other things, Link (Zac Efron) to take acid. Director Adam Shankman was enthusiastically on board in early 2009, but apparently the deal fell through. In June 2010, Shankman confirmed that New Line Cinema had dropped the sequel.🥰🥰🥰🥰

    "Cause he wants to rendezvous,
    We kinda sad and blue,
We'd like to say (no words, smirks on singers' faces)
to the new girl in town."
Also, love the nod to Little Shop of Horrors in the same song, as the three girl singers say "Look out, look out, look out, look out!" just like in the opening number of LSOH.

If you're talking about his portrayal by James Marsden, Corny's body language evokes a sympathetic camp counselor rather than a casual lover caught off guard.

We did this musical in 2020 before the shutdown at my high school. So many innuendos but that's what made it fun. Like I actually bought a pack of Wrigley's for our Penny and taught her how to blow bubbles since she didn't know how to. She's watched me do it before and after class so she asked me to teach her. It did cause a war to see who could blow the biggest bubble. Our seaweed did say "Slow down Maya, your mouth muscles are already strong enough." I would've thought one of us would've choked on the gum because it was not expected of him to say that. That poor girl's face was so red.

In the movie commentary it's revealed that corny Collins is Brenda's baby Daddy. When link gives his ring to Amber Velma Von tussle is talking to Brenda and Brenda looks down at her stomach and tries covering it with her arms then while Velma is talking to the cameraman you can see corny Collins and Brenda arguing in the background then she announces that she's leaving the show for 9 months. Then corny makes a statement where he says maybe we will find a girl who's just as fun willing but maybe not quite as free willing. Also I would like to add that at the end of the movie just as the song You Can't Stop the Beat and you could actually see Amber and the arms of a African American man and they're making out spinning in circles

The part about Corny's impregnation of Brenda is the speculation of only 1 cast member... Besides, *this* incarnation of Corny Collins is way too nice to take advantage of a teenager!!
I think Brenda was arguing with Corny about simply feeling slut-shamed, while he tried to reassure her that he solely addressed his comment to prospective replacements.

Ms. Mojo explains the Cinemascope reference as using anamorphic lenses - to make it simpler, Cinemascope was a widescreen process. Movies used to be in more square in shape - but then in the 50's they became wider ( I won't go into the aspect ratios, and all that, since that would only complicate this).

On the commentary, Brittany Snow points out that the large circle brooch she's wearing in the classroom where she mocks Tracy for grass stains is an early 60s version of the "purity ring." Admittedly I didn't get the Cold War joke at the time, but we didn't do that in school until I was sixteen and then it was only kids who were taking National Certificate of Educational Achievement Level 2 History. I found it a lot of fun to write from Eisenhower's POV (of course he left office the year before this movie takes place - Kennedy was the first president to support equal rights and integration - Eisenhower actually had blocks put up around the school in Little Rock so the nine African-American kids had a hard time getting in - and don't get me started on the way they'd expel those kids for the tiniest things).

Apparently for Level 3, schools could do nineteenth century New Zealand or the Tudors. I so wish we'd done the latter! Divorce, religion, Mary locking up her half-sister, Spanish Armada, major feminism from Queen Elizabeth I...but no, we got stuck with missionaries and whalers, the Treaty of Waitangi, pasture, mining...the only good thing was the 1890s when we became the first country in the world to give women the vote.

So did untold numbers of people. During the Bay of Pigs crisis, my father packed his sea bag and awaited a call up (which thankfully never came), while giving instructions to my mother and me (the oldest child) on his survival plan and his preparations in case the cold war got hot.

That's because it was common to do that back then. Society wasn't aware of the ill effects smoking and drinking would have to the unborn child. However, on I Love Lucy, Lucille Ball's character regularly smoked, but refrained on air when she was pregnant

Is Corny the baby daddy? That depends on which version you cite... The 2016 live production features an overwhelmingly seductive weasel who could easily be filthy enough to toy with a 17-year-old. The 2007 film, however, features a SINCERELY NICE host; Corny's charisma and gorgeous looks are matched by a kind heart in that version.

Hey, MsMojo. How about you do a list of the Top 20 Cutest Girls in Anime? I have some examples.
    Examples:
Emilia (Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World)
    Yoshino Himekawa (Date A Live)
    The Platelets (Cells at Work!)
Milim Nava (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime)
    Sumi Sakurasawa (Rent-A-Girlfriend)
Kanna Kamui (Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid)
    Wendy Marvell (Fairy Tail)
I hope you have a good merry Christmas and a happy new year.
