- Creepy anti-piracy screens aren't that hard to find. Creepy and real however is a different story. With a flood of fan-made creepy anti-piracy screens, I decided to dig out the real and unsettling ones hidden in games.
A huge shout-out to the Easter Egg Hunter. He has covered dozens of anti-piracy screens throughout his series and many of the ones found on this list can be found in his as well.

You really should’ve mentioned the Baldi’s basics anti piracy screen, basically when you go to get the first notebook the screen will fade to black, then fade into the anti piracy screen, which is a darkened image of the classroom with a picture of Baldi, with hollow eyes, with the message “Something Isn’t Adding Up!” At the top of the screen, all the while the game goes completely silent besides a few random wind noises.
Bro is that my Cuphead anti piracy video😳
If Among Us, Fortnite, or Roblox also has an anti-piracy screen or coding, and if it's the latter, then I wonder if this is the one that taunts any (virtual) shoplifters the most.
@@tigerlover2853 On top of that, the Baldi’s Basics anti-piracy is actually real!… Kinda… It’s more of an error screen than an anti-piracy screen, but in theory it would work as an anti-piracy screen! But seriously this video opened with two anti-piracy screens for games I KNOW don’t even have anti-piracy screens.
It doesn't let me join

pretty easy they cant pirate anymore
thats a good solution
If they have a seizure they can’t pirate sooo 🤷🏻♀️
Wait....
Can they sue the game developers? Even if they were pirating yes. But still. I think you could actually win that. Either way jf you have a seizure you also can't buy the game.

I feel bad for the players who bought Gold Rush or Kings Quest legitimately, only to lose the manual. Or bought the game used and the manual wasn't included.
luckily nowdays can look it up on the internet but not back then.
@@isaackraus9779 Exactly.
I remember that actually happening to me growing up. My grandparents had KQ6 on their old computer and threw the manual out long ago for it. My cousins and I basically got at the cliffs stage and never figured it out until years later.
something worse would be if your parents pirated a game and you didn't know and you just are so confused and sad
Yeah, some of these are funny but the manual stuff is just evil

Funny thing about the Serious Sam one: people liked it so much the some fans purposely went out of their way to pirate it to play that verison. I'm pretty sure it was added in later to the actual game as an alternate game mode. Same deal happened with Game Dev Tycoon's anit piracy.

@@jeremyojeda6914 Yes, in the original Pokemon Anime. The episode "Electric Soilder Porygon" was banned because of this very reason.
I don't have epilepsy, BUT I still approve of these warnings because I am easily startled and flashing lights can at least give me a headache and/or hurt my already bad eyes.
I would've been super surprised if I saw Incredibles 2 without the flashing lights warning because those Screenslaver fights? Oh man, they were definitely brutal...

@@K1dd13Strangl3rV2 it sounded familiar but you couldn't put your finger on it couldn't you.
Out of all of these, Gimmick's anti-piracy screen scared me the most probably because I was watching the video in the dark.
These screens are legit more horrifying than modern horror games today
Some of these I'd heard about. Anti-Piracy measures are really interesting! One in Dragon Quest actually turned the game into a demo.
I thought the Cuphead one wasn't real. The song is real, but I thought no one knew how to really trigger it.
I don't think it's piracy measure another fake one because i ACTUALLY encountered it. Sell your soul to the devil and you'll hear it.
Cuphead has no DRM, you can buy it from GOG
Yea, that is more an accidental urban myth of this supposedly anti-piracy measure in Cuphead, even though, there is no evidence anywhere in the game files of any remains of alleged dumped-out anti-piracy screenshot/alternative main menu video loop or any confirmation by the brothers of this. But this song and its file are very likely meant to be like an easter egg, than any else.
@@Chadjr2009 No, but you CAN obtain it by giving up your soul to the devil at the end
(aka bad ending)
@@Corpcake ??? Okay, but I don't know you say this supposedly has to do with the piracy rumor, if the brothers who made this game, make the bare minimum (via delaying the game to two more months, just make the rumor real?) with the really short bad ending in the finalized version?

One of my favorites is from Just Shapes and Beats where the developer talks to you and he is being really nice to you. I love that one
Really? I like that game can u get a source please
I don’t know why, but Gimmick’s anti piracy screen has to be the most unsettling to me. At any given moment, it just instantaneously cuts to black with those two words. It doesn’t help that it seems completely out of tone with the actual game.
This is a well made video. I’m glad you didn’t include any over the top scary and threatening ones, and kept it real
Gold rushes anti piracy is really disturbing. It feels to harsh that you get hanged for pirating a game.
Ocarina of times anti piracy is honestly really funny and great! I love how they make you not be able to beat the game right at the end.
That creepy cuphead theme is not anti piracy. It’s just a really disturbing Easter egg. Also what makes this theme even more disturbing is that the audio file is named “666”

Baldi and Mario 64 also has an anti piracy.
FYI, the OoT anti-piracy “feature” was apparently later revealed by the person who “found” it to be a prank on the folks at The Cutting Room Floor since there’s technically no code in the different versions of the game to cause such a thing to happen. As for how they faked it, you can pretty much guess the answer, given how accessible modding and emulating these old N64 games have become over the years. 🤗
Source? Other people have said it was real, too, so it's good to report it.
@@bobosmith101 Sorry, it turns out *I* was the one being pranked since it was folks in the comments section claiming this on Oddheader’s old video where he first mentioned this and I didn’t think to question whether they were correct or not. I’ve since checked out TCRF’s page on this and they have indeed done their homework regarding what triggers this to happen.
Don't know if it's been said yet, but Gimmick's 'BLACK HOLE' is a reference to the game 'Atlantis No Nazo'. Taking exactly the wrong path through the game would lead to a room with no floor and the words 'BLACK HOLE' as the background, where the player would immediately and repeatedly fall to their death until they ran out of lives. I love that ocarina of time let's you play the entire game and stops you from beating the game at the end
One time when I was younger, I sneaked downstairs at night to play Roblox on the computer and I got a lovely error screen that scared the living hell out of me.
I wouldn’t make an anti piracy screen, I would make the game slowly turn into complete hell, with the menu disabled and no way to exit what they were doing unless they close the game or turn off the system.
I would make the game slowly change the lore, and them, BOOM! Your game turns into absolute hell until your console gets turned off, and you have to show proof you bought a pirated game without knowing instead of doing it yourself
Make everything normal at first but as time goes on it gets worse and worse.
Start with items disappearing and not coming back until you restart the level(even crucial key items)
Then the text on screen starts having some subtle spelling errors or changes made.
The text only becomes worse, going from simple spelling errors and small changes to moderate/severe changes or text not appearing at all.
Next audio or voice lines , if there are any, will randomly cut out at times from 2 seconds to 10 minutes.
Then wierd glitchy noise will start to make itself known, either static or the stuttering when a game crashes. Once it's at a clearly audible but regular volume have it persist, even if you turn off the game. The buzzing or stuttering will still be there the next time they turn on the game. All kinds of crazy shit could be done with audio so start having gross sloshy, gooey noises.
Enough is enough: this will be the final time this person turns on the game without purchasing a copy, go overboard.
Continuous pained screaming blows their ears out, replace all the textures with a picture of a prolapsed anus and add a new sound: sqelching liquid diarrhea. Creepy-ass music can play too, all culminating in the pirate turning off the game and being deaf for a few minutes, possibly also giving up and buying the game.
Create a a terrible creepypasta in real life , in a real game

I had actually heard of DJMAX, and I was like, heck, I’m a stickler for rhythm games, so I got an iso file for Fever (it was only one of two for the PSP released in America, the other being Portable 3) and put it on my hacked PS3. Unfortunately, the way the game checks for piracy wasn’t actually able to be solved on a PS3, it checks if there is a UMD (the psp’s weird little disc format) was inserted. So I actually got that anti-piracy effect, and legit thought that it was the PS3’s shitty PSP emulation.
Oh, and if you thought Fever’s anti-piracy was crazy, BLACK SQUARE’s anti-piracy was even crazier, mainly due to a big piracy problem with the last game, Clazziquai Edition. Not only does it have the glitchy mess that Fever had, but if it detected an ISO folder on your PSP memory card, it would delete save data for Clazziquai Edition. The thing that made this even more believable was that if you had a Clazziquai Edition disc, you could put BLACK SQUARE into a special mode where you could play all the songs from Clazziquai Edition along with BLACK SQUARE’s lineup. So someone could actually believe that it wasn’t the game doing it on purpose, but their PSP actually just glitching out.
I actually play it using the PSVITA’s much more accurate PSP emulation now, and it’s a pretty good time. That first run in with the anti-piracy on my PS3 scarred me for life though.
tl;dr DON’T PIRATE DJMAX GAMES, THEY FUCK YOUR PSP UP.
I mean, I emulated DJ Max 1 fine, but I do agree that sometimes is best not to lmao I emulated DJ Max 2 and it completely glitched the hell out of my phone (have a PSP emulator on my phone instead of a console) and I thought it was actually part of the game until it started going crazy on me 🤦

My ideal anti piracy in a game would be one that instead of kicking you out it gives you some more lore...like a more fcked up version of the game or somethin. As a ex pirate turned hoping to be a game developer when I get my life together I'd find it amazing. It could expand on the plot...like if a game has heavy plot then put some into the piracy stuff to make it amazing and then that might make pirates want to get the real stuff.

I just thinking that the game would become so non hostile, and non challenging, that you wouldn't want to play, and don't forget, that there can be inappropriate jokes, or just make it a fan fic XD
No, it would be right before the jump scare and then cut away and say “sorry, you only get to experience the jump scare if your not a thief”
