As I'm just getting into collecting that is why I love this channel because you go through detailed demonstrations on how to test your coins. Thank you so much for this video I'm starting to like collecting coins more and more but I can only get one a month. Slow going but at least it's going.
I’m learning more over time, and I watch several coin enthusiasts/numismatists channels now, it is teaching me so much more than I knew before. Thanks for all you do! New sub!
I had one incident being ripped off by a coin seller so I’ve used magnet and weight tests before. Now I know about the ping test! Awesome…
Great info as always. It’s so easy to do these. And so little can save you so much! Thanks for the info.
This was a great walk through. Thanks, Silver Seeker!
WOW! Thank you Silver Seeker! I very much appreciate this! I knew a lot about the testing of real Silver, however this video of yours was VERY informative and educational. Keep up the great work. Two thumbs up.
Great Presentation!! Very Useful! Thank you!
A very helpful video for everyone. I believe you had a least one previous video on this subject and where I originally found the link for the Ping Tester & Stack Stick. I've been using the coin ping tester and stack stick for a few years now with perfect results.
Several apps for sound testing have come and gone in Apple's APP Store, but the Precious Coin Tester APP remains and I use it when I want to confirm what I am hearing, especially in noisier environments like coin shows where a coin may be questionable.
This is definitely a video all new coin buyers who should pin and come back to from time to time as they navigate through their coin buying. Well done Silver Seeker!
Great video Silver Seeker. Very informative as always.
Thank you! Fantastic information!!!
Awesome video on the counterfeit The Fakes love it thank you I learned so much from this video with Fakes and real silver Seeker you're the man thank you again man God bless
Never had a way to thoroughly check my silver thanks for the video and knowledge
Another great, informational video, Silver Seeker!
Thank you, very informative. Never knew how to test the silver coins
I needed to see this video. Thank You Sir.
Great info. I got the Pingcoin app and tested some buffalos... all good thankfully.
I look forward to testing the rest, hopefully with the same results.
New sub.
Very cool equipment. It's scary for new stackers who do not know how to test. Did buy a pinger tester thing recently after watching some of your other vids.
Good tips thanks…did I hear you say your adding that PMV Pro Mini to your treasure box?
this is so helpful. excellent!
Seeker! is a great guy, He does this all for us. So we dont get ripped off. I really would love a Sat. night coin roll hunt
Great info Bro many thanks 🙏
Great video. I learned a lot.
Congrats on 100K!!!
Thanks 🙏🏻 For The Great Info !
Nice video. You can still get a certain amount of silver ping sound from a silver bar. You can also get a magnet slide which is mutch cheaper than metal detectors.
Awesome as always.
I love your videos, very informative. I am brand new at coin buying and learning how to find fakes so hopefully I don't wind up with one. I am wondering about this strike test and walking into a coin shop or pawn shop and doing that. Would they be glaring at me or not expect that. Also, thus might require taking coins out of packaging. I'd rather do all of this than wind up with a fake. Just like to hear what to expect when I arrive at my first shop.
Thank you! I asked for this on the last video🙏🙏
really good info.. thank you
Super helpful, great video.
Great video. One thing to note, it's Resonant Frequency not Resonance Frequency.
Purchased the tester, so thanks for the tip.
I use my magnets. Then I ping. Finally I weigh. Has not failed me.
The magnet and the weight will tell you for sure. The ping is just the final straw. It's great that you know to do all three.
@@davidarmstrong7628 smart man? I was not rude to you. No need to be insulting because I'm not exactly what you think I should be. Do reply to things if you are going to be negative to another person. I'm doing what I can to help others. FJB
@@tgurlamber5874 I have no idea why you think I was being rude....Perplexing that my opinion of using all 3 tests is a good thing, then somehow I am rude to you??? I am not sure what you are referring to???
Only buying from reputable dealers helps too!! Thanx for the info SS!!
Thank you Thank you I am deaf and did not know there were apps for testing bullion!!!!! Subscribing now.
Nailed it bro.🙏🏽👍🏾
Which app do y’all use for an iPhone?
Just tested the Pingcoin app on my Gold Krugerrand, and it works!
Thanks!
Very cool...ty for all you do...
Great video. That Sigma is pretty awesome
Hello 👋, Just discovered your show this afternoon, I appreciate you're knowledgeable teaching skill set.
My question is. Does that here exist a 1942 NMM pre October 8, 1942 struck on silver? That's supposed to weigh 4.07 gms struck on a silver planchet? I can't find anything on it.
I have a piece of sheet metal. It's fairly small at 6"x9". I'm positive it is silver. What I want is to determine the purity to see if it's even worth taking 45 min to take it somewhere
Great video good info
Cool content, great job
Accidentally sold some fake prospectors using the app since they don't really have everything uploaded and it pinged properly on a 1 oz morgan dollar. remembering the way silver sounds is important.
WOW ! 99K CONGRATULATIONS 🎉
I have a pinger and magnets. I don't buy from eBay and I don't have a local shop close enough, so all my purchases are from places like SB, JMB, Hero, etc.
The last round i picked up was one of those don't tread on me rounds
Can anyone recommend a pingcoin alternative for iphone ?
Hi Barra, I just looked up the same thing for IPhone and found one called
Precious coin tester in the App Store. Hope this helps.
I don’t see ping coin in the App Store for iOS?
Thanks for the lesson
tested a .999 round on both apps passed, tested 3, 1/2dollar a ken,Frank, and walker on both apps , and passed, how in the heck i didnt know about these apps, always relied on my sigma original
THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this Info
Great video
Great video and plenty of useful information. My concern, being fairly new to stacking, is where are the fake coins coming from. I would think that reputable dealers would not have any.
Not. All 🥇 and 🥈 is real. This has been going on since Roman times. Back in those days they used to clip the edges of gold and add cheaper metals thereby debasing the original metal making it less valuable...This is what con artists do.😢😢😢
Mainly from china. One such company is called TEMU which offers all kinds of very well made fake silver and gold coins for a few dollars.
Don't order anything from them unless you want 20-30 or more scam texts a day. I have never had a serious scam problem until I ordered some cheap Chinese crap from them and now I'm wondering if I should change my number.
That's amazing; a resonance tester.
Can you recommend another app for testing? Both apps you recommended aren't available for my version of Android, both were made for an older version.
I'm looking at the app store with no luck. What apps will do this one an iPhone?
I will get that bullion test app, it looks good. I have the ping test app and pocket pinger. Ty
Does that testing system come with that tablet being I don't have a cell phone also there is no link to check it out I don't see the pocket thing link either I don't think I need that expensive thing, but worried I got morgans off ebay but think the big morgan dealer don't know seems best just to buy from someone you trust
Is there a source that provides a chart or formula to determine the "ping" frequency (and perhaps even the decay rate) for pure silver/gold based on
diameter and thickness for rounds/coins
and
Thickness, Width, and Length for rectangular bars
For example, I plug-in the diameter and thickness of a .999 silver coin and the output of the chart or formula is the approximate "ping" frequency one should obtain from a quality item (no voids, major defects, etc)
I realize there will be some differences depending on cosmetic design differences, whether a round has Reeds or not, but I would think the frequency deviations would be relatively small compared to deviations found by fakes using different metals and false purity claims.
All great way’s thanks for sharing
Do these ping tests work with bigger bars like 5, 10, 100 ounces? Thanks never mind I didn't finish video. So basically don't buy bars unless you have money to buy an expensive paperweight. Sounds like it's easy to make a fake coin with the proper dimensions.
Thank you so much!
Neato info!
99K whoop whoop! Can't wait for give away time! I've been waiting a long time! I probably won't even win anything 😂🤣 Still I can't wait to see all the stuff given out, you have some neat stuff in that box. I'd just be happy to win the empty box to be honest lol
I use ping, weight ,magnet, and Ice test. Awesome stuff thanks and God bless
Another excellent video, I always learn a little bit more with each one. I love my Pro Mini as well, and for me, it is well worth the money. The more tools you have at your disposal the lesser chance you have at being scammed. No matter the method you use, practice with them. The more familiar you are with the tools, the easier it will be to determine real or fake without any second guessing yourself. This in turn will make it harder for a scammer to try and talk you into the purchase.
I made a mistake getting an iPhone, that android app looks much nicer than the iPhone equivalent lol
Totally unrelated to the content of this video, but are the gloves you wear in your videos made of nitrile? I’m looking for an alternative to cotton gloves for handling bullion. Thanks in advance for the info!
Very interesting. Frankly, I don't think you can even consider being in any sort of acquisitive mode with regard to silver or gold without one or the other Sigma machines. There are just too many fakes out there. I don't know the price of this little machine, I assume it's less than the big brother. But the big brother is $1300/$1700 depending on which accessories you buy and if that saves you buying one single bogus ounce of gold, it's a win.
Why are my eagles testing results always indicating "Unclear" and only up to one out the three bars?
Good info
is the fake silver eagle you tested towards the end actually 1ounce exactly? It said 1 ounce on the sigma, but I think that's because that's what the weight was supposed to be. It measured on the width properly so I was just surprised if it was actually exactly 1 ounce and the correct width as well, since it's fake
I was thinking, couldn’t I use my metal detector to check if it’s silver or zinc? I would say yes since copper and zinc come up differently.
I’ve always used the PMVPro didn’t know they had a quantified acoustic test. Glad I didn’t because the cheapskate in me probbably wouldn’t have gotten the PMVPro. It’s ace
Can that ping test app detect fake 1oz silver plated copper coins?
What’s the apps for iPhone thanks
Informative
I have that app and the philharmonics only matches 2 frequency's and says close. I've tried different years and they weren't all purchased at the same locations none of them hit all 3 for some reason. Sigma says they're real though and I know they are real. I wonder why this is happening.
nice test!
This has been my go to test. Im wondering, have they been able to make any fakes that pass this test?
It appeared to me that the silver eagle was less than line to line.
Did anyone find bullion test and an apple phone app? If yes, please list below the name I can’t find it.
Ya…Selma Pro cost $1,699 or Basic is $849.
very cool apps !! but the play store says that both of them can'T be installed on my phone because its to recent ? any tips ? :)
Given the margin of error for those machines I wonder if the forgers will become more savvy and be able to make coins that have more silver, but aren't fully silver, and be happy with slimmer margins just to fool this machine?
I don't see any reference to a Ping test for the iPhone. Name of Apple App?
Awesome video i like the mini sigma
Couldn't ping test fail if it was produced in a different way or if there was small imperfections. I have a round that I got from a reputable shop that fails ping but passes everything else
I use a small chip clip and pingcoin work amazing.
I was very disappointed I bought a pocket Pinger. It worked great with the app that came with it. I haven’t used it in quite a few months. I went to buy some silver the other day and went to use it and they started charging for the app now. If I didn’t know they were going to Start charging I would’ve never bought the pocket Pinger. I couldnt hear the difference in the ASE’s.
As always ,great info, however , you did not ,mention Gravity test(you did in past videos)is accurate and every one with a good scale can perform. i made an ex-ell program to use gravity test on silver, gold and cooper or combination of metals. Like to send to you for advice, how
I can send an excell file?
Thanks.
I've done a video covering the Specific Gravity test before, but I don't use it much. This video was sharing the way that I test. :)
any comments on specific gravity comparison testing
If that expensive device is just testing the electrical resistance, why can't one just use a regulator volt/ohm-meter to test the electrical resistance through the coins? The resistance of silver and other metals should be available. One needs to measure thickness or size depending on how one wants to measure resistance. From edge to edge should give a more accurate reading.
iOS ping test apps? Suggestions please
When is the silver giveaway happening?
Thankyou!
So, if someone had a coin, the outside was silver, but inside was copper. Plus the right dimensions. It’d pass the Sigma test possibly? And the magnet test.
It would fail the weight and ping test though.
It would be hard to get the right dimensions and the right weight if it wasn't also pure silver.
I have lots of junk halves. can they be tested?
For big bars I bought a speed of sound device. 200 bucks.
Cool vid
wow, I learned A LOT! I've been kinda depressed about all the counterfeit bullion and coins coming out of China. I never knew there was a quick and cheap way to test for fakes. Thank you!
in argentina when banks were closed and they robbed their money, people used to trade with jewry. Coins were less valued than jewry. There are pure .999 jewry now, that dont tarnish and it is hard no soft because they are compressed and arc soldered.
Look it up.
