On one of my two servers, the nickel coating wasn’t sufficient, and I noticed some corrosion on the aluminum heatsink caused by the gallium. I had to swap out the liquid metal for Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste. Interestingly, after the same 5 months, the other server didn’t show any signs of corrosion. Just keep this in mind if you’re thinking about doing the same.
My server started thermal throttling while loading, despite good ventilation in the rack. After replacing the thermal paste with liquid metal Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut, the peak temperature decreased from 95 to 80 degrees, and the idle temperature decreased from 50 to 45 degrees.

Apply a small amount, spreading it evenly across the entire surface with a cotton swab. I think it took less than half a gram for the entire processor.
Is that an aluminum heat sink? I thought there was some bad side-effects from mixing liquid metal with aluminum?
I can't speak to whether or not it's aluminum(looks like it) but yeah, generally using liquid metal on aluminum is a bad idea as they will alloy together and generally bad things will happen.
The heatsink is indeed aluminum, but it has a thin nickel coating. If the surface isn't scratched, using liquid metal can be safe. However, you should still be prepared for some level of risk.
Добрый день! Спасибо за видео! У меня он при нагрузке жужжит как пылесос, не знаете можно ли как-то снизить шум работы? Может есть ссылки на гайд? Типо там заменить и на какой вентилятор, чтобы потише работал....
Добрый день! Сервер действительно шумный, можно попытаться настроить профиль работы кулера lm-sensors. Не помню, вроде бы даже в BIOS были какие-то настройки скорости вращения. Скорее всего шум создает даже столько кулер, сколько сам радиатор, через который нагнетается воздух. Мне приходит в голову только идея снять вентилятор и закрепить сверху на перфорацию два Noctua 80мм (какой-нибудь NF-A8 PWM может быть даже внутрь поместится). Трудно сказать как это скажется на температурах, т.к. скорее всего большая часть воздушного потока будет вылетать из передней части корпуса. В общем, тут только экспериментировать.

This is the KICA Jet Fan 2. Incredibly powerful for its size, highly recommended. Unfortunately, CZcams doesn't allow attaching links, but you can easily find it on Aliexpress by the name.
Как сильно шумит кулер под нагрузкой ?
Сервер довольно шумный и где-нибудь в спальне мешать. В моём случае он стоит в сетевом шкафу в прихожей, так что меня вопрос шума не сильно беспокоит. Вполне возможно, что можно попытаться настроить через пакет lm-sensors. Не могу с уверенностью сказать, что он будет работать с конкретным сервером, не пробовал.
Там pci-e слот ещё внутри?
Да, там полноразмерный PCIe 4.0 x16 (работает как x8). Официально туда даже можно поставить NVIDIA RTX A2000 с кастомным куллером, например.

@@rybinchak Если удастся найти подходящий по длине низкопрофильный вариант. Мне самому пока не удалось найти такую из потребительской RTX серии. Компьютер довольно новый и еще многие ждут доставки, так что пока мало информации об успешном применении того или иного адаптера. Кастомного куллера под A2000, к сожалению, пока тоже нет в продаже. Есть только схема для ЧПУ, доступная скачивания. По ней можно заказать изготовление из меди. Вероятно, я так и сделаю ближе к лету.
Absolute crap quality. I already had problems on Installation. It died just 2 months after using it. Power On doesn't work anymore. Never again Minis-Forum.
I’ve had two MS-01 working for six months now and both are fine. Maybe you were unlucky with a particular instance. Or maybe I got lucky with mine.

The outer frame of the processor is at the same level as the core and fits snugly against the heatsink. Even if we assume that gallium spreads around the core, it will not get further than the recess. You can share your experience if you know how to do it better.
You can also find a large thread on the servethehome forum, where several users have already reported a similar procedure.
А сколько у него слотов под оперативку?
Два, их хорошо видно на 0:36 когда снимается куллер. В моем случае стоят две планки ADATA DDR5 5600 SO-DIMM.
