www.evanmchapman.com Video I filmed/recorded of James Cromer, Corey Robinson, and Gregory Messa performing "Table Music" ("Musique de Table") by Thierry de Mey.
Played this piece 2 years ago, my junior year at WWU. Now, I'm searching for rep for my senior recital, and a search for 'Lang Anvil Chorus' brought me to your channel, and this video. I remember ripping the .mp4 of this video so I could get this crazy piece in my head. Got to play with Peter Ferry while Elliot Cole was in residence! Good memories, and thanks for the memorable and wonderful performance of Table Music!
Awesome Asa! We all know Peter well, and Elliot Cole is one of my favorite composers and general-sound genius! We are so happy this recording helped you so learn the piece, though are tempi are a little faster than marked. Hope it went well!
Absolutely brilliant! 2:30 just priceless. Interesting that the performers, all clearly pianists, aren't mentioned by name - that adds to the impersonal, i.e. slightly abstract, beautifully stylised character of this the audio-choreography. Fantastic work. Keep it up!
The visual aspect of this video is intrigueing to me, very nice. Also, the luthier in me is thinking "hmm those are some nice pieces of ash, I'd love to build a guitar from that" ;-)

Usually I would except that this is on Reddit as the next great thing, and it's just not that at all. If you can't deal with negative feedback, don't go public. Maybe if the percussion was more impressive, maybe if it hadn't been the hackneyed disembodied whatevers against a black bg, et al. In any case, it's out here for feedback I'm assuming, as opposed to adulation, so there you go. Mimes are boring and not nearly as clever as the mime thinks. So is this.
If you don't have any knowledge of music, then your opinion is practically rendered invalid in terms of how "difficult" you think this is. You don't have to enjoy it, but to not understand what is going on and claim it is not difficult is ignorant.
Mime is a beautiful and rich tradition of theater art, I feel sorry you won't ever have the patience to appreciate it. This piece is actually based on ballet, and colloquially titled, 'Ballet for Hands', and the composer is actually a choreographer. We appreciate but respectfully ignore your feedback, but hope my comment helped you to appreciate Percussive Arts further than your knowledge of bucket-drummers and 'blue man group'.
I saw this piece live at the Luzern Music Camp and I loved it! I just came here to se it again.
Absolutely beautiful. Great recording, Evan!

Interesting, but not anything I would listen to for enjoyment
Nothing here looks too difficult, and it's about as entertaining as watching a fucking mime in central park.
What a load of bollocs
