Penny was the glue who put everyone together. She may be rude to Leonard, but she did help the friend group come out of their shells, especially Sheldon. Sheldon was lost after he grew up way too fast as a kid due to his smarts. His father a football coach kept him and his sibs in line. Then he passed away and Sheldon really went wild. Then Sheldon met his friends. He went from a robot, cold and self centered to more self aware and remorseful and it was because his friends he met influenced him.
I can’t tell if Kaley Cuoco trying not to laugh is her corsping or in the script but it makes the scene so much better. Really shows just how fond she is of Sheldon and how much she adores his at time awkward but lovable personality in a way
The show, already from the start, was never shown to remotely suggest Penny and Sheldon are in love. Yet the show feels it urgent to have the characters POINT IT OUT like this. Tells you a lot about the romantic chemistry between Kaley and Jim that it looks it was getting in the way of Penny and Leonard. HA!
Kaley, Johnny and Jim all have awesome chemistry as a group and in their respective pairs. They could not have picked three better people to play Penny, Leonard, and Sheldon.
Keeping them platonic was the best option - the way their relationship was written, there was no other way it would have worked. BUT I wouldn't say no to them playing a married couple in something else where the dynamic is right.
Did you know that in S1 E17 penny tells Sheldon to stop being a Taurus but on this episode it reveals that no one knows his birthday when penny clearly did and that he is a pisces 🤔
There was something a bit strange in this ep as when Leonard said the bit about choosing Penny as a dinner guest(probably the nicest thing he said on the show and one of the better lines on the show, in my opinion), Amy acts as if she finds it sickening but earlier in S8, she acts as if she likes romance and wants someone to make romantic speeches to/about her, like in the pub when Leonard talks to Penny about marriage and Amy acts like she wants someone to give her romantic speeches, which makes sense as Sheldon pretty much insults her non-stop and never lets her get her way so it was surprising that she reacted differently in this ep.
This would be around the point Joey and Rachel would have started sleeping together. But Big Bang just perfected the already wonderfully built up friendship between the two of them. It’s so hard to write that well in a sitcom.
This episode was so sweet and cute. Too bad they had to ruin it with penny telling everyone about sheldon’s birthday… she had promised him she wouldn’t, and yet she did it.
I kinda ship them, but really because I just think it's a funnier pairing. It probably couldn't have had much longevity, but the odd-couple thing works.
People who call them siblings must be blind if they don't see what Sheldon and Penny are for each other. They are friends, they are both special and confident in their own way, they bring out the best in each other without pushing the boundaries and clingy neediness (unlike Leonard and Amy). And look at how they always look at each other. Shenny have the best foundation for a happy romantic relationship. They should have ended up together.
Well..Penny Sheldon and Leonard were a sort of love triangle. Sheldon was just not bold enough to put himself for real in the game..plus Leonard is his BFF so it was just impossible..
Thank god they did not make this as sexual love relationship cause the the show had enough of it, no need to make this pure and platonic friendship a dramatic love triangle. They are sister/brother-like relationship, I think that's the best thing of the show, their love relationship would not as good as this one.
I think it's quite safe to say that while Sheldon and Penny aren't *in* love with each other, they do still love each other in a very platonic sense :)
Before this scene I thought s8 was the worst so far ( maybe except for the previous episode, where Howard gets news about his mom), but this scene makes up for it big time!

It would have been fun if they made just 1 episode during Penny's single life era where Sheldon got hit by something on the head, woke up in a hospital and thought he is in love with her 😂 HAHAHAHA...during the whole episode, he is being shy and trying to be sweet towards her. While Penny is trying to avoid him and sees him as creep HAHAHAHA... in the end, she confronts him in a restaurant that she is not interested as she walks out. He then went to chase after her, accidentally slip and hit his head. The 2nd time he was brought into the hospital, Penny got really worried and even felt guilty and blamed herself. When Sheldon woke up, Penny cried and even tells him that she accepts his date invitation. Then Sheldon suddenly say "why would I date you, woman?" And then evetybody in the room got shock. "Are you a scientist?" He added. "He's back. Now problem solve." She whispered to the guys.
For bad or for good, if I'd watched it a few years ago, I would be shipping them so hard! 🙃😄 ( still do, but just a little bit) But joking aside, this scene is top notch, their chemistry was on fire! I really could believe they can develop some feelings for each other... It was better enotional interaction than Penny ever had with Leonard, and maybe Sheldon with Amy.. Definitly the best scene of the entire season ( with so far wasn't so great), and probably one of the best in the show! Great acting from these two! ❤
I wish Sheldon was couples with Penny because its like a combination of a genius and a simple person, stating that just because you are smart, does not mean you have to marry someone who is also smart. Their chemistry together is perfect.

You're probably not going to read this all but here it is: If the couples switched partners, they'd be way happier together It's made blatantly clear in Season 11 Episode 13 "The Solo Oscillation" Example A: Sheldon kicks Amy out, Amy and Leonard realize they have a lot in common Example B: The second day, Amy is still there which makes Penny annoyed, she goes out to get dinner Example C: She brings the dinner for her and Leonard, and probably Amy, to Sheldon instead and they eat together Example D: Penny helps Sheldon look at string theory in a different way and pushes him to a way of looking at it differently The most important example, being E: Sheldon kicked out Amy, but let Penny in And in the later seasons, Amy is revealed to be jealous (three times) of how close Penny and Sheldon are and Leonard tells her that her and Sheldon´s relationship is weird The best Example: Connie (Sheldon's Meemaw) and Penny are really similar, and Sheldon's Pop-Pop was described to be quirky like Sheldon. I found it hard because in a dream imagination world Amy and lenerd would be a great couple and Penny and Sheldon would be a great couple
