      I fundamentally disagree with this statement, at least for myself.
      It's a quaint pithy proverb, but I find that I often learn best by talking things out, out loud. I can count the number of times revelation on a matter has come to me in the middle of a sentence.

    Proverbs 11 and 12 remind me that as believers in Jesus Christ, we are to live differently than the world around us. Live with honesty, integrity, faithfulness, humility, and righteousness. We are to watch our words and be trustworthy. We can be trusted with other's secrets. We live in wisdom, not foolishness. We stay away from perversion, in both speech and actions. We should not be lazy. Work and earn honestly. My God shot actually comes from Proverbs 10.
    "When the tempest passes, the wicked is no more, but the righteous is established forever. The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land" (Proverbs 10:25‭, ‬30 ESV). These verses remind me that no matter what evil happens in the world right now, it will not last forever. God is going to make everything right because He is a God of justice.

    Through this I see that the greatest truth & the richest wisdom to be found is directly related to proximity to God. The more time we spend with Him and the closer we grow to Him in our relationship is the key.

    Hi everyone, as a Jewish woman always believing in God, reading the Bible for the first time, and loving the knowledge and wisdom from the recaps, what stood out to me personally, was in Proverbs 11:9 - You can be ruined by the talk of godless people, but the wisdom of the righteous can save you.
    I find comfort and hope in that sentence. Thank you Tara for your incredible faith and insight. It is truly inspiring.❤

    My god shot: “Hate stirs up conflict, but love covers all offenses.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬ ‭CEB‬‬. This seems like a perfect reflection and foreshadowing of Jesus in the Old Testament. The “love” this verse describes can be interpreted as Jesus, as it was his sacrifices that covers all of our sins. God bless every single one of you. And good on you for being here today have a blessed day.

  • @DonZimmerman52
    @DonZimmerman52 Před měsícem +5

    There’s a contrasting pattern of internal versus external crookedness that it seems God is after. Prov 11:20 says that God detests people with crooked hearts, and at Prov 12:8, “warped minds” are despised. God hates “dishonest scales” and loves “accurate weights” (Prov 11:1). There’s a sense of God loving things that are 1 for 1, that this is what defines “integrity” (Prov 11:20). And yet, God makes a world that is crooked: at Eccl 7:13, we should accept what He has made crooked. That’s the challenge-to live in integrity in a world that is twisted and complex, living so that “when the storms of life come, the godly have a lasting foundation” (Prov 10:25).

    "Sometimes I act faithfully..." - so true. I love how honestly you point out the sins and wrong motives of us "good" Christians. Without condemning us, because we Jesus covers ALL our sin, it's so good to look at this and be humble. It's so prideful and so hidden most of the time. Sometimes even to ourselves.

  • @marissafisher9438

    I read Prov 10:15 differently. I read it as “the wealth of the rich is their fortress, but the poverty of the poor is their (the rich, again) destruction… that the “their” refers to the same group of people, which also makes sense. I guess it could go either way, but it made sense to me. The rich may think that their wealth provides security and strength for themselves, but the fact that there are so many who are poor is a testament to the fact that they are often using their wealth wrongly, and they will have consequences for that.

    Yes. I agree with you about that. I, you or anyone else, can learn a lot of the Bible & what God has to say when watching this Channel on CZcams along with Daily Bible Devotional and Spoken Gospel, just to name a few. That and from attending Church and also listening to the Christian radio stations here in Washington state, Spirit 105.3 FM and K Love 104.5 FM and down in Oregon 104.1 FM The Fish and 104.5 Way FM. Just be careful of whoever calls themselves a Christian artist or Pop/Rock band, but inwardly I don't agree with them or their views on Politics and Religion & just make me uncomfortable & I just plain don't like them nor care about them. My advice to them is IDK TRY HARDER, HIT or STUDY the GOOD BOOK HARDER, PRAY HARDER and find a new way to keep 20- 30 something year-olds from say, Topeka, Kansas from changing the Radio station during Rush hour traffic. You can win more souls to Christ by cookies, cupcakes, energy drinks and popcorn than writing songs or making movies that shouldn't have seen the light of day since Day one, i.e "Courageous". Sorry, if I seem mean or sarcastic. I'm not asking for prayers or forgiveness on their behalf. I just want them, want people, like me & you to know & and understand. Thank you, and God bless. "Visit our store at biblerecap.com." Cheers🙂🙏💒👍.

    I really struggle with my tongue. I'm a pessimist, complaining and talking negatively about others. I know there have been many times that I've been a foolish person, leading others astray and being a stumbling block. No doubt, my words have caused wounds. Dear Lord, please forgive me. I so often want to pray for God to control my tongue but have this fear that His answer will be something like tongue or throat cancer, Crazy, right?? While Christ's death may cover my sins, that's no excuse to continue doing it. I don't think he's delighting in me much. I pray that God changes my heart and mind, and helps me to think before speaking.

      I took it as a general truth/observation. As in violent mean get riches by robbing, assaulting people, etc. Not that the riches are a reward from God, it's that when they violently rob someone, they are taking someone else's riches.

      The NIV Study Bible says this about that verse: “11:16 assumes that ‘a good name is more desirable than great riches’ (22:1) and insightfully observes that a woman, if she is kindhearted, will be accorded more respect than wealthy men if they are ruthless. Kindhearted woman-see 31:28,30.”
