You must search a DAF in Dakar at 200km/H just full send overtaking cars ahahah
Jan de Rooy in his DAF TurboTwin overtaking Arie Vatanen in his works Peugeot rally car at speeds over 200 km/h. Epic footage.
This is just a test run in the hills of Brabant in the Netherlands. This truck has an air exhaust system. And the shock absorbers are also made in the Netherlands. And almost all of them drive with that. Greetings from Spakenburg, Netherlands.
you must see Kamaz Dakar. Another level.
If you like this, search on YT -1988 turbo truck was too powerful for Dakar - part 7 & 8. It was a DAF truck (X1 and X2) with 2 engines (combined 1220bhp) and at one moment a truck overtook a Dakar rally car +/-140 mph... until it crashed unfortunately the co-pilot lost his life... after this there where a lot of regulations to counter this
That was Jan de Rooy versus Ari Vatanen in a Peugeot 405, the Crash was his Son Gerard. But yeah that truck overtaking a rallycar is awesome and it is on CZcams
A must watch video is the a KAMAZ dakar rally truck, chasing a rally car.
Those trucks are awesome. Weird to think they all started as "normal" supply trucks for the cars (and bikes) doing the Original (and only) Paris Dakar Rallye. And they someday figured out they should have some fun racing too.
its one and the same truck, no trucks, yes sure in the end there are many many pictures of them, but the video is about the ONE, a bit of a misleading title for the video if u ask me
Jan de Rooij started it, he is the one who overtook Ari Vatanen in a group b-spec Peogot, with his truck!!!!!
These trucks have the craziest suspensions, this is in The Netherlands these teams used to train in the military exercise areas around my base in Oirschot. And they would join us at chow in the mess, with the trucks in the parkinglot next to the mess. You have no idea how big these things are in real life, it’s nuts ! And they go so freaking fast they can hit a 136 mph, there is a legendary clip of a truck a Dakar overtaking a car with 125 mph 🎉 look up Jan de Rooy, he’s a Dutch man how basically started the truck racing in the Dakar in the 80’s. Ofcourse he dominated the race 🇳🇱
A Dutchie here... it pretty looks like the military terrains we have here in the Netherlands where our military tanks often practise.
You should check out Team de Rooy's legendary dual-cabin twin-engine Dakar truck sometime. It was way OP and prompted a change in the rules for later editions of the rally: only one engine allowed. This was from the man who in the 1988 edition of Dakar overtook a Dakar race CAR with a Dakar race TRUCK, at 125 mph or 200 kmph.
That overtaking of the rally car was in a DAF truck driven by Jan de Rooij. Overtaking Ari Vatanen in a Pegeot 405. Dakar 1988.
I believe this is a military training grounds where the Dutch Dakar teams get to test their trucks. If so, this is in The Netherlands (a country known for being absolutely flat 😅). They can take turns that quickly because of the quality of the suspension (Reiger) but also because the weight is centered as low as possible. But still, these things are pretty tall so it's impressive nonetheless.
the quad isnt on dutch plates so i dont think its in the Netherlands but it could be near Soesterduinen if it was or along the west coast or just somewhere man made
or if its militairy Beekhuizerzand would be a good guess
I Believe this is famous 2 km2 desert in the Czechia, this team is based relatively close
You have to check the "DAF Turbo Twin" and Turbo Twin X1 amd X2... And yes, this trucks have get this name because of the fact that they had two turbo engines. Combined power over 1200 HP, with a top speed over 200 kmh... Offroad on the desert.
Edit:
12:30 that what you mentioned, I mean an truck passing an rally car on the desert WAS thisb DAF what im talking about here.
They all got beaten by Kamaz, the Kings of Rally Trucks
These trucks have such a high capability for speed in bad terrain, they are speed restricted in races. When they ran Dakar before restrictions rules they blitzed everything in stage times.
Not so much a car person but I love to see when people really love their stuff.
Hi there. Love your video's. I guess this is Hans Stacey, testing his MAN before he won the Dakar race for trucks. Hans Stacey, I kwew him from a young age and followed him in his rally time, driving with a Opel ascona 400, later on with a Manta 400 and Subaru. I grew up near him and often saw him training and we kwew his co driver too, and once got the change to sit beside him in a Opel ascona 400. I can asure you, you gonna be sick. The man is insane when he is driving.
The Russian KAMAZ Dakar trucks are pretty cool too -- they've won the truck category of Paris-Dakar 19 times as of 2022. I had a chance to have a close look at one at the Kazan Ring in May 2017.
Камаз have just logo Kamaz, engine is amerikāņu engine Made in Chine, from Kamaz in this truck is just 7-10%...
No one grand dont race in full manufactor team, just Kamaz, if in Dakar Come full manufactors, like Dad, Man, Mersedes Tatra, Scania...Kamaz lost all the time.
Imagine that thing going through the woods with trees only a few inches of your mirror flying by.
ALL the Dakar vehicles bikes to trucks are SO badass
The UNIMOG goes where it wants, this thing goes where it wants… with speed 😂😂
I drove a MAN 4x4 exactly like this as a semi. Now I drive the newer model. It definitely has a modified suspension. When you drive mine like this, everything in your spine is loose and you can tidy up the cabin.
He also likes to shear off drive shafts and universal joints. We've had a lot of them and the front axle shafts in particular are difficult to change.
That's just awesome, makes my day even better. I'm in a catastrophy prevention unit in Germany (German Red Cross) and I just got the ok for getting the big truck license for a 13-ton beast with double cab we'll be getting. Hell yeah!
These trucks are pretty cool. they have around 1000 horsepower 4x4 and very low center of gravity, therefore they can take turns like a rally car. But of course it helps with a superb suspension system and solid tyres. Check out the Dakar rally Trucks, there you will definitely find a lot of fun to watch!! My old favorite was Jan De Rooy.
from Aleš Loprais his. Uncle Karel Loprais is a legend for Bohemia and TruckTatra
It would be interesting to see some of the Dakar trucks compete in the Baja 1000, I think they would surprise most people.
One big difference between Europe vs other world is: we have too much free time... too much. 40hours pet week, 11 months per year. Aah... we got bored in our lazy vacations and we just desing crazy stuff at work. And afterer that even carazier.
Alex Loprais as a driver. Nephew of Karel Loprais - six times winner of Dakar Rally in trucks category.
If you like dakar trucks, you need to check the daf turbo twin, and the kamaz, the flying russians
I would love to see some of these trucks enter a race like Baja. Turn a few heads for sure.
I remember watching the WRC on the old Speed Channel and I miss being able to watch it. They are the best drivers in the world. I really wish there was a way to watch rally racing here in the US. I know there’s the rally cross but it’s not the same.
The location where this video was made is a military training ground in central Netherlands, called "De Harskamp".
It easy to find on the satellite view of the Netherlands on Google Maps, look for the large green patch in the middle of the country, this is "De Veluwe" a forested area with Apeldoorn at the eastern edge and Arnhem at the south end. When you zoom in on this area you will find a patch with lots of yellow lines at the western edge with the village Harskamp next to it, this is the terrain where they test and practice with this truck.
Not all of the Netherlands is perfectly flat, these sand dunes were formed in the last ice age by the edges of the ice cap when it stopped moving south here.
Hi Ian, I really can't imagine anything from the USA that could compete with that MAN.
Such a good center of gravity. Old mates Balls weighing it down🤣🤘
You should check out the Dakar video channel. When the race is run in early Jan, they post the highlights everyday. Bikes, cars, quads and trucks.
I'm actually mostly impressed, that the suspension doesn't fail. It's something you see fairly often, in WRC.
When this 8 tonne truck hits a hole. at speed, the force can be easily 20 times, so we'll over a hundred tonnes.
The suspension on most Dakar vehicles is made especially for rally's like the Dakar by the Dutch company Reiger suspension
Trucks in Dakar Rally in the 80's, was just like the group B, pure madness. Having a turbocharger feeding two turbochargers to reduce turbo lag, a 10t truck doing 0-100 in 7 seconds with a top speed over 200km/h. Yes, this is madness.

As you like this, look ad Jan de Rooij dakar. He overtakes cars with the fastest truck ever.
It isn't a man but a Daf!
This is actually a military trainingground in the netherlands which is publicly accessable during the day
These things are insane!
It looks big but the center of gravity is low down 😊
KAMAZ is the best truck in the world in such races. ALWAYS wins
Did you see Cpt. Solo? (Tomas Tomecek) - solo Tatra driver in the Dakar rally. :D
there's almost no weight up top and in the back bed which makes the center of gravity low so that's how it takes the turns without tipping
DEFINITELY check out the Red Bull Kamaz trucks. You'll love them for sure! 😊
you would get out of the truck feeling like you had been in a tumble drier.
this is in the netherlands,! these sandy plots are on the veluwe, i have driven there too in militairy training!
Check out de Rooy´s DAF Turbo Twin, that thing was faster than the cars.
If Amazon ever decided to bring Same Day Shipping to the Desert... That's your delivery vehicle right there. 😀
Dakar is the maddest offroad race in the world....
Personnellement, sur le paris/dakar ... les camions ont toujours été ma catégorie préférée .... devant toutes les autres catégories ... 😁😁😁👌👌👌
MAN trucks are very nice. - check the MAN V10 (engine) F90
this terrain looks similar to a Tank training site here in Germany
Chauvinist me: the Dutch participants in the Dakar for trucks performed pretty well for quite some time 😊
Imagine being in the cab,you have to be holding on tight and getting tossed around 😂
The amazing thing is that it is flying but it sounds like it is idling. The revs are probably pretty low. You get used to hearing engines scream.
At 5:40, I would guess, that the truck passes the camera at a speed around 90 km/h, or a bit more. I took this guess, by knowin' how fast the trucks passes a person, standin' at the hard shoulder of an Autobahn. And the speed limit for trucks in Europe, is 80km/h...
MAN is the Volkswagen group.
MAN won the 2007 edition from Lisbon to Dakar ...it was the last African Dakar
Driver Hans Stacey 🇱🇺
Copilot Charly Gotlib 🇧🇪
Mechanic Bernard van Kinder en 🇱🇺
Hi, IWrocker.
"I wish America had these."
So it doesn't have 'em? The 'roll-yer-own'.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
MAN built and to some extend still builds the Kat1 chassis. It´s a 4x4 to 8x8 multi function truck. Transport, cranes, folding roads, weapon systems or with a fifth wheel as an offroad heavy hauler called SLT2 to drive German Army´s Leopards around.
They know what they´re doing when it comes to offroad stuff. 😁
This guy might be my delivery driver, judging by the state my packages arrive in!
An awesome truck. I wonder how your back would be after that beating.
Looks to be the same military proving ground that is used for the Breslau rally in southern Poland.
People always seem to forget about tatra
The track is the tank track of the dutch military proving grounds in Oirschot the Netherlands
I Got to ride alongside ElisabeteJacinto a Portuguese bike and truck dakar driver. they are beasts, fascinating and scary/impose respect. made to always drive at 70 mph(could be faster just dont wanna lie) regardless of the terrain .
got the chance to experience the dakar back in 2006 and 2007 (Lisboa dakar). dono if it still stands but the best trucks in "order" are, Kamaz , tatra,Man, Iveco
EDIT: at 13:36 3rd row. 2nd truck the lightblue oleonban sponsor. thats elisabete truck :)
sorry if its anoying but 2006 dakar 1st stage truck czcams.com/video/UDp08oJ2Vgc/video.html
The scene you saw, was Dutchman Jan de Rooy in a turbo twin DAF passing Ari Vattanen in a peugeot 306 rally car
There's cool short drag race-type video on CZcams "Tatra vs. Kamaz" featuring exactly this type of trucks
One should find @IWrocker a video of Jan de Rooy finishing the Paris-Dakar race first, even BEFORE the normal rally cars, in one of the DAF TurboTwins. Let him wrap his head around that.
You should check other brands and teams aswell, they move insanely fast for their size.
And i'd also recommend you Ian to check formula truck, it's a Brazilian semi-truck touring racing series, full built up circuit race trucks.
this looks like it was filmed on the veluwe in the netherlands
DAKAR RALLY...PARA MIM OS CAMIOES SÃO OS MELHORES NA PROVA..ADORO...
And these are doing 400-500 miles a day for 13-14 day’s, at this or higher pace.
And unlike the Baja, they don’t have chance to practice sections before
you should see these things going over sand dunes
It is in the Netherlands, it looks like this is in Oirschot military base or t'Harde militarybase. probably Oirschot, thats also where the do military vehicle practicing i belief, and t'Harde is more shooting practicing.
Awesome!!
MAN trucks....my grandfather had a trucking company with only the civil version of these. I was just a little boy and he would take me on rides through terrain that would scare and exilirate me !
If you haven't yet, make sure to watch next Dakar Rally. While TV/video coverage leaves you wanting more, these are some of the most beautiful, most cinematic pictures of all sports.
dont cross his path!!! he will not stop!!!!
Allow these trucks in Baha and they win.
FedEx pr someone should paint a truck up as there is an add right there. No matter what it takes we will deliver
One motorsport I havent heard you mention and was wondering if you like it is dragracing? We just had one of our locals, Ida Zetterström, win the european championship in Top Fuel dragracing!
majority of time they drive in real desert yes that huge desert with sand mountains :D
See you european truck racing championship
V tall, yes. But all the heaviest stuff is low in the frame, There are a few spares in the back but most of the canopy area is for aero + ads over the roll cage.
The whole truck is caged so there is better chance of continuing after a roll
They can be faster than the cars or SUV's because bigger wheels and bigger suspension.. They litterally feel less of the bumps.
I'd love to see and hear what was happening inside the Cab.
IWrocker - check the F1 Mercedes DAS system, that will blow your mind. No joke!
@MattsOffroadRecovery you need this truck to convert into the worlds biggest off-road wrecker!!! This thing is so hard to get stuck !
Search for dakar truck vs rally car, it's a promotional video by red Bull... Priceless 👌🏼
08:10 Baja 1000 trucks are ca 3 ton ( 6,600 lbs ) but that truck is 9,5 ton ( 21,000 lbs ) .
Looks much like the Brandenburg area, thats the region around Berlin. Its all sand under a thin layer of dark soil, with a lot of forest. It does not look like North Africa to me.
Yeah, the Dakar trucks are totally crazy. Recently I watched a video about one, which has been fitted with extendable tracks in the middle, so they can pull themself out of sand and mud if the wheels have sunk in and its resting on the frame. The downside is, though - it adds another 5 tons to the weight of the truck.
First of all, this is in the south of the Netherlands where this Dutch team tests and trains.
Furthermore, the Dakar Rally has not taken place in Africa for a long time. It only bears the name of the Senegalese city of Dakar. The Dakar Rally took place in South America for many years and now in Saudi Arabia, Asia.
Dakar in Africa became too dangerous. It's usually held in South America these days
Kamaz master ❤
About to start working on the Unimog . It doesn’t seem worth it after watching this .
Ian
Usa has its own unimog
Stewart and stevenson
M1078 lmtv
2.5 ton cargo truck
Look up Paris Moscow Beijing Rally 92/93, the best Raid ever. Look up Perlini Red Tiger.
Kamaz trucks are the best In this category of racing
