No one hates the Ladybug series as much as its own fandom and it's hilarious
Ur not wrong😭😭😭🤣
But almost everyone is too invested to not know what's next
Miraculous being bad is why it's so good. It's almost like reality TV, we're just here for the madness and drama. The crazier the better
This is like every fandom.
The biggest problem is definitely how the writers didn't seem to understand that their original audience is far more mature than before.
right
The writers are different from the show (hence why the movie feels like a fanfic)
They started this years ago when Covid first started
The concept for this movie actually dates way back, like the plans of the movie started even when season 2 hadn't come out. The movie has a lot of elements that all fans wanted to have in the series when it just started and never got, like the revelation scene between Adrien and his dad. The fandom knew there was a musical movie in the works since back then (2017-2018) it actually makes me wonder what things changed or were modified.
This is a fair point but counterpoint, there are still a lot of young fans. I wouldn't have reconsidered this series if not for my 6 year old cousins
Adrien's jokes and one liners have always been silly even in the show. He was pretty faithfully portrayed in the movie in that respect.
I know right ! He’s so cool and his jokes are retry funny to me at least
I needed more cat puns in the movie but you’re 100% right
yeah in the show they’re silly and funny but in the movie he was basically just downright insulting her at times
@GiulianaAre you absolutely pawsitive that’s what you wanted, though? A film just littered with cat puns? I feel like you’re lion about that.
@So Close To Overdoseomg you couldn't do it better 😂
14:27 "I'm not invested, you're invested"
*yes, the curse that made us all stick around for five freaking seasons*
😭 so true
Exactly...
Because the idea is soooo good, but they NEVER do it right 🤣 It's so FRUSTRATING
Faxx
@Lala Mu that's exacly the point, we like the characters and their chemistry, but the storytelling decisions are not the best...
As someone who grew up with the show and is now an adult. I wouldn't have liked it if they had tried aging it up. To me it feels more like a love letter both to the original concept of the show, and to us fans (or recently ex fans in my case) who it has made suffer for 8 years and 5 seasons.
There were so many little details that made my heart want to explode, like how ladybug was the first one to call chat her partner after he called himself her sidekick. (And then immediately followed it up with the theme song remixed as a duet)
This movie gave us everything we needed to fill the voids left by the show
I loved how they added the very old theme song into it. My sister is 7 and she doesn't even know that song... This movie was amazimg, I knew it would have been better that Jeremy Zag was directing it
I liked the movie I Just felt the last fight was rushed. I also think that they should have finished the series sooner. It was really good in the beginning but I feel like it’s getting out of hand and is so stupidly predictable.
@fennecfrogsstudios definitely. They could have wrapped up hawkmoth in two seasons. Three Max. But instead they stretched it out way to far to the point where most people got tired of it.
%90 of good writing (or any art form really) is knowing when to stop. Knowing when you have pushed the plot as far as you can and the characters have learned all their lessons. If you keep going past that point, then you just end up repeating things
You took the exact words out of my mouth
@Fennec Frogs Studios the last fight was so dark....
Two things:
- While not mentioned in the movie, the show mentions that the Kwamis' power is why nobody can recognize them.
- The reason Ladybug is a bit more confident when she first speaks to Cat Noir and the reason Cat Noir is bullying her is because a part of their Kwamis' personality merges with theirs when they enter their super hero form. When Adrien uses Plagg to turn into Cat Noir, he takes on Plagg's carefree and slightly rude personality, while Marinette takes on part of Tikki's self-confident personality.
He really should have watched the show. He only watched two episodes.
@Sirmel11 I think that the movie isn't super strong because you need to watch the show to understand the movie, the point of the movie was to restart the story, so why does it rely so heavily on context from the show?
@Erin McNeil Not sure why you're asking me. I'm just saying he didn't watch the show.
I thought it was because when Marinette and Adrien transform, the Kwamis help bring out their "true personality" since Marinette is very shy and clumsy, making her as Ladybug confident and secure. And for Adrien is kind of quiet and obedient, him as Chat Noir is more wild and rebellious/confident. But I do like the concept that the Kwamis' personalities merge with the miraculous holder. But if that were the case then that would mean Gabriel Agrests' Kwami Nuru would be a bit vindictive, or be enhanced by Gabriel's already dark personality.
Honestly though, Cat Noir making fun of Ladybug is the most accurate display of a teenage boy flirting I've ever seen
I thought so too. And I thought it really fit his character and their dynamic. Most of all when you look at Ladynoir in seasons 1 and 2. It was kinda like this.
Accurate 🤣🤣
Also For all the times I told on Boys making fun of me to my school teacher and they are like “oh they just like you”
🙈🙈
frrrrr lol
Agree and also love your pfp!
That was seriously me in 7th grade. Don't worry, I grew out of that in 8th grade.
I loved the movie personally, and I’m glad they didn’t age it up. It’s all part of the nostalgia of it. However I think a miraculous movie meant for an older audience where there was actual fighting and wounds and suspense and struggling physically and with tough decision making, and real quality romance with no singing or cliche children nonsense would be absolutely epic.
100%, a movie for my 9yo sister, and maybe a PG-13 movie for older audiences, such as myself
Yes please I’d love that
There's adult musicals lol, most Broadway musicals are intended for adults actually
Love the fight scenes, kinda like the unused concept of the anime series before switching to the current series
I like how the main series set the bar so damn low over 8 years that this movie is now getting unanimous praise.
I disagree, I absolutely hated this movie. No character development, songs sucked, art style sucked, changed the best character’s personality, etc. The only good thing I liked was them actually finding out each others identities, but that was done in such a cheesy way that I hated it to.
@cheyennewagner2841 What she said. Oh but the art style was rad. And key characters acted out of character. Pinch refreshing, pinch out of place.
@Cheyenne WagnerThis is very subjective. I really liked the movie. I am not a huge miraculous fan, but I have watched some episodes over the year with my sister. I've watched most of season 1 and 2 and part of 3. I gave up watching it after the adrien pov episode in s4.
I watched the movie and it's really amazing. I watched the movie withh no expectations for it and it was enjoyable and fun.
Marinette's character change was a very welcome one. I hated how in the series Marinette almost talked to Adrien like a normal person. In the movie she was still shy, but it made sense and she still gave a chance to talk to him. (The montage scenes are pretty cool)
The animation is amazing a beautiful to watch. A lot of the scenes feel a lot more realistic because of it, and I get a little more scared of what will happen to the town. The songs are really good, but it's hard to watch the English versión because of the different voice actors. My last complaint is how fast the pacing was towards the end.
Everyone has different opinions, I just wanted to share mine.
@DMonty91If you mean that the characters were acting much diffrent than they did in the series by "out of character", then I completely welcome it. Marinette not being a Mary Sue, Adrien being an actual teenager and Gabriel actually loving his son are out of character? Then hell yeah, make them even more out character!
@Cheyenne Wagner1. There definitely was character development especially with Marinetre. They literally took away her stalker tendencies and made her a shy girl who grew confident enough to even ask out Adrian to the ball which she never does in the show for anything.
Kinda agree with the songs but I enjoyed 2 or 3 of them.
Art style is a major upgrade from the show in case u couldn't tell even if you don't quite like it.
Identity revealing was good as well but I would've loved a full dance at the end
I worked on the movie in the crowd animation team! The movie went through several changes and it took time to finally settle on one specific idea of what the story would be about, what characters would be involved etc. We did laugh a couple of times over some of the cliché lines, and the fact that these two can't regognise each other just because they wear Masks! But overall, it was a great experience and the songs are catchy :)
That's awesome! I love the show! The movie was good!
The movie was so great!? Great work for those or the person that worked on it!
heyy can i ask what your job title is? I’d love to work in animation studios but i just don’t understand what to study and how to get into it
@soph heyy! Sure! Well I am a 3D animator meaning my main job is to animate or create believable movements on characters, creatures ,objects vehicles etc :)
Other departments that you could be interested in are : lighting, rigging, 3D modeling, texture artist, hair and clothes simulation, compositing and more :)
You can work in VFX, or in video games, tv shows and movies! It depends on what you prefer!
For studies, either check for a school with an animation program or try searching for online courses😊😊
Hope this helps!
@Sirmel11 so happy you liked it😊
Fun things I’m not sure were touched on in the movie but I know from the lore and series
- The Moth Miraculous does not make people evil it just grants them them abilities usually tied to their deepest desires. So the white butterflies are actually the original for if it’s power. It’s been corrupted because the user clearly is trying to use it for evil but imagining how the moth gem would be used for good might have put the MC out of a job 😂
2 - When they become their superhero selves they actually bond with the miraculous spirit, so the confidence Marinette has is due to her genuinely being merged with Tikki, the same way Adrian is a lot more playful and cocky when bonded with his, but the love for Ladybug is all Adrien
This was literally what I was trying to say
Certified true miraculous fan👍
And also the reason why hawk moth doesn’t merge with his miraculous personality is because his Kwami, Nooroo does not accept the bond because he’s using the miraculous for evil. Instead, she’s getting forced. Same for queen bee and myrura.
Oooooooh, so that's why they act like different people.
@The Anime Guy Ooo, new information gained! Thank you! 😂✨
Strangely the movie gave compelling reasons in the opening that Marinette should be the holder of Cat miraculous.
Girl, really is a disaster and Plagg would have loved it. Giving confidence to Marinette to own up to it and either use it to her advantage or work around it.
Also if Adrian was lacking parental figures then Tikki would have been a good miraculous for him. With her kind and supportive nature along with how affectionate she is. Would have helped him emotionally.
You’re right….but that would have made Adrien more of a protagonist and we can’t have that here/sar
Also Adrien isn’t smart enough to handle the ladybug and so he has to be more straight and narrow like Chat Noir/sar
damn I’ve never thought about this it actually makes sense
@Red Balloon true true, but Adrian could be a good Mister Bug, he seemed good enough in the episode where they swapped.
@insaneworld211 Oh no. I was being sarcastic. Adrien definitely has the potential to be a good ladybug. But for reasons, the show doesn’t wanna give him any kind of agency once so ever.
@Red Balloon OH, the sar went right over me
The movie accomplishing more in 2 hours than the shows 5 seasons 💀
That's because Jeremy Zag was responsible for it, not Thomas Astruc 💀
@What's your name? I really wish Jeremy should've taken charge from S2, I hate Thomas 😭
@swtaeberrynah fr Thomas is so bad
@DampLamp HE RUINED THE SHOW AAAAAH I HATE SEEING GOOD MEDIA WITH POTENTIAL BEING TRASHED BY THEIR VERY OWN CREATORS (I'm sorry but I'M STILL FRUSTRATED WITH THE SHOW)
I said the exact same thing this mornin
One of the complaints i have, other than it being a musical to begin with, is that the VA for Marinette can ACTUALLY sing, which was shown to those who know Verosika from Helluva Boss who is played by the same VA as Marinette and even sings a (ridiculously) good song in the show yet ig the director didnt think she could do it for the movie? Idk, i loved Cristina Venezuela in Helluva Boss and thought she most definitely wouldve been able to sing Marinette's parts and it probably wouldve been way better than what we got.
I had no idea she voiced both of those characters, that's so cool!
WHAT IM SAYINGGGG Christina Vee is literally a singer!! Her vocals are so great they should've let her sing
Yeah I agree that her VA should have sang or at least get someone that has a similar enough voice to sing because this movie threw me off so badly with how different her voice is vs the singing voice, it just doesn’t match at all so it takes you out of the movie it makes it awkward.
Apparently, they had already agreed to have Lou sing the songs in the movie, so Christina couldn't sing. just what i heard though
When I watched the movie I was flabbergasted when the voiced changed for the singing. 😭
Gabriel deciding to give up his villainy and then two seconds later turning around and going "nah, back to this" is par for the course actually. Mans has done it in the show, even starting to move on from his wife and get closer with Nathalie, and then changing his mind immediately
MY THEORY 17:38 Natalie is thinking about what gaberial said before the ending and she steals the peacock miraculous of Emily and the second movie will be them fighting her because the movie is kinda of a huge plot twist from the actual show so why wouldn't they change the whole Natalie thing so they might be changing it where shes the bad guy now
@🖤LUHVBERY🖤yeah, i also thought that
@🖤LUHVBERY🖤I hope Nathalie becomes the big bad if this ever gets a sequel, Mayura as a villain was pretty disappointing in the show.
that's litterally what i thought as well. Natalie might be the new bad guy in some sequel@🖤LUHVBERY🖤
Marinette being clumsy is actually explained well though, it isn't just "uwu im so quirky", it's that she has social anxiety. Having social anxiety naturally means you'll get symptoms of anxiety when you're in public or thinking about socialising. This could easily mean having shaky legs which make you more prone to falling especially if your head is focused on anxious thoughts rather than being aware of your surroundings. It makes a lot of sense and her anxiety towards her self-image and lack of confidence is shown in a realistic manner.
Nobody cares broski😹
@Kariuki Massio You sound insecure. I hope whatever anger you are trying to relieve on me is resolved soon, maybe next time don't be so obvious about how unsatisfied you are in yourself and your life online. It's a bit sad. :)
@Fortuna Rthanks for explaining it well. ❤ I as well also struggle with social anxiety and sadly not a lot of people are aware about it
@My only one I do too and i find it frustrating when people belittle something like Marinette's clumsiness and make fun of her for being quirky but she's so clearly got some sort of social anxiety issue. It may not be severe, but she has a social anxiety issue. Her behaviour is something social anxiety can genuinely give a person. When your mind is overwhelmed over your surroundings and specifically how you may look or appear to the people around you, you're very easily going to lose control over yourself and end up tripping or just forgetting how to walk for a second.
Fr fr the show spent like 8 years making fun of her anxiety for shits and giggles (fuck you thomas) and I love that the movie version takes it seriously.
The movie feels like a giant middle finger to Astruc and I love it!
Seriously, the characters are likeable, the love quadrangle not only makes sense but is also engaging and gets resolved, Gabriel is portrayed as a good person that fell from grace but managed to find the light after he realized he was hurting the only person left in his life he cared for, Adrien stood up to his father after all his neglect, Marinette isn't a stalker, Chloe is a fun bully to watch, we got the Chat noir VS Hawkmoth confrontation we needed, and they revealed their identities to each other at the end!
This is everything the actual show is not and I love it! Funny how season 2 and this movie prove that all Miraculous needs to be great is remove Astruc from the project, isn't it?
Honestly, the thing that I loved most was how Lady bug and Cat Noir could actually confess their feelings towards each other without some weird twist or something to happen. Feels very refreshing from the 5 seasons of bs.
truly the most astruc moment of all time
Cripes, why the heck does everyone despise Astruc so much?
@DuelaDent -52 To put it simply, his creative decisions frustrated the entire fanbase, and when questioned about it he displayed an immense ego, immature behavior, put the blame on the audience for not liking his vision and keeps deflecting criticism by strawmanning his critics and never addressing their actual complaints.
Wow, what did the creator do?
Something I found weird was that the guy who got his heart broken just turned into a gargoyle. Most of the time, the akumatized version of the person and their powers would match the situation that caused them to have strong negative emotions, or it just relates to the person itself. Like the girl who got rejected by Kim because he liked Chloe became a Siren because A) she was a swimmer and B) She wanted Kevin to like her and not Chloe, and Sirens use their voices to seduce people.
Thought the boy's name was Kim not Kevin
Can we talk about how everyone looks 10 times better here than the show?
no literally in the actual show they all look like bugs staring at u when u lift up a rock
The animation is good and Marinette looks better but Adrien looks younger
@Whym3 theyre meant to be like 14. in the show he just looks older than his age, in the movie he fits his age much better. marinette also has makeup on - you can tell when she closes her eyes since you can se the eyeliner and eyeshadow.
@Sulmi in the movie marinette looks older specially on the ball and she even stops in the morning for a coffee..
They all look emo to me
(Not necessarily a bad thing)
Honestly, it is much better than the show. Marinette doesn't seem like a stalker and stuff and adrien shows more of himself when he gets to be cat noir (like the show tried to do). I wish they didn't make it a movie with songs as they could have got the point across without Marinette singing about herself 3 times. Everything you said about the movie is quite accurate but compared to the show, the movie is a lot better
Ok but they changed the whole thing D: and how her voice changes completely when she sings.
@AxoHehehehewell it's a reboot of jeremy zags version it's not supposed to be similar to the show
And her french va sang her English songs as well as they promised her she'd get them
I prefer the show.
I felt like Movie did decent fan service to fans who have been a part of the fandom for so long. I think the thing I missed was number one the way that Marinette falls for Adrien, that was hooked me on the show. And number two, a more clear explanation of their powers, I feel like the movie just kind of glossed over it, and left fans to put things together based on what they know from the show. Anyway, I love both.
Wait can u remind me why she falls for him in the show? I remember her thinking he was a rude jerk and then I think he gives her an umbrella when it's raining one day??? Idk i forgot
@Daniel Zhouyea pretty much
Wasn't she an obsessive stalker in the show?
To be honest, I adored that this movie was true to the original dynamic of the show, speaking to its juvenile nature. I also love that everyone who lives in Paris is just completely blind. The singing part definitely would've bugged me if it didn't go so hard. Like who gave it permission to be that awesome
Still better than what the show did for 5 whole freaking seasons 💀
Nah, I still prefer the show
@Anna Nowak Gabriel was like not really a good father and when he found out that his son was Chat Noir he showed no remorse (Chat Blanc episode) bro basically abused him in that episode 💀💀
How Adrien didn’t realise that ladybug was marinette baffles me. Who else in Paris has bright blue hair in pigtails 😭
Exactly and he didn't notice that they have the SAME voice 😭
reminds me of an episode of The Venture Bros (season 7, episode 2: The Rorqual Affair) but the difference is that Wide Wale and Rocco already knew that both Monarch and Blue Morpho are the same person, they even made jokes about how eye sockets is the only way to identify the "hero behind the mask" cliche
Miraculous is like the longest "Will they won't they" I have ever seen in a story and can't believe it still managed to keep people in for 8 years.
Edit: thank you MinecrafBreadlmao
What about Supernatural???
Also Rwby took 10 years for a LGBT couple that was forced and messy AF
There's a Dutch police show running since 2007(and still going). I stopped watching some time ago, but I was at season 9 and they still weren't together despite having kissed, she admitted to loving him, they even had sex, it's literally there(The actress even said that they have got so used to each other they can almost read each other's mind).
It's at their 18th season at the moment I think and I wouldn't be surprised if they still weren't together.
It’s unique and cute
@Vastrothis sounds like actual hell
“His dialogue was written by whoever wrote the minions movie” had me in the floor
in the floor? :0 whats it like being in the floor
Alex is out here doing the Lord’s work for those of us who have aged out of being interested in Ladybug and Cat Noir but still want to know how their story ends.
How far did you make it with the show? It's fully plot driven now.
Yes the movie has it's flaws but considerably less than a tv series that has been out for 8 years. Here's my thoughts. Adrian actually feels like a teenage boy here. He has lived a sheltered life but when plag comes to him he really leans into the hero power fantasy most of us have as teenagers. He is sooo certain he will be the one "to save the world (world... world.. worl... wor...)" but when he comes face to face with an actual monster he is justifiably frightened. Marinette can't do everything. She's a kid freaking the f out because this flying little *thing* told her "you gonna die to save the world like it or not. " and She's like "not" but when her inaction leads to consequences she has no choice but to attempt to stand up. They felt like real people, Adrian gets angry at his dad for abandoning him after his mother died but still wants his live and affection. Plus unlike the show the movie holds Gabriel accountable for his actions. In the show he is immortalized as a hero with a gold statue while in the movie he goes to prison. And Chloe feels like an actual teenage bully rather than the looney toons version of satan. Aliyah and mari's friendship feels more organic. Aliyah is a weird chick who hangs out with Marinette because she is a danger magnet and Aliyah absolutely loves the absolute chaos that follows Marinette which helps Marinette ease up and be more comfortable in her every day life. And Gabriel knows that what he is doing is bad, he just doesn't give a f*ck about it. He knows what he wants and if two b*tches gotta die then two b*tches gotta die. Unfortunately they went that corny love is the most powerful force blah blah thing but atleast he sees his son is one of the b*tches that gitta die and he is just like "hold up this is my son. I can't do this to him" unlike the shiw where he finds out his son is said b*tch and he is just like "oh I can kill a b*tch at my breakfast table."
Ian reading allat
In terms of the ending scene: I don’t think that Gabriel is still “evil”, I think the voice was him informing Natalie about Emilie being in the basement and stuff, and foreshadowing for Natalie to becoming Mayura if/when they make another film.
I've never been a hardcore fan or anything, but I saw some episodes and I honestly think it's a cool and simple concept. Superheroes with magic powers that come from smol creatures that are incredible marketing material. However, the show kept diving deeper and DEEPER and milked both the concept and relationships between characters drier than the Sahara (I mean like the Lady-Noir romance just kept getting dragged on). I didn't expect the movie to be very good, (and it was eehhhh...) but something that stuck out to me was Adriens character. His mom is dead, and he has a strict and isolated father. The show only shows that hes affected by this when the topic comes up. It doesn't really seem like a traumatic thing in the show. But in the movie, he's literally the quiet kid that talks to nobody. He always seems really depressed and I appreciate that little detail. But idk I haven't seen it in years and I'm not a huge fan of the series so what do I know :/
I can’t believe he didn’t mention how hilariously different the two voice actors were for Marinette. It was the funniest part for me.😂
What? I thought they were the same 🤯
@Autumn GeorgeI think they meant the voice actor compared to the singer for her :)
Tbh I really dislike Marinette's voice. It's too high pitched for my liking 👀
Bro her VA can sing 😭💀
@Chaos_Is_My_Guilty_Pleasure same she sounds pick me as hell
Other than the epilogue, THIS should've been the show. Less beating around the bush and pushing the payoff farther away, more satisfying conclusions and people finding that being honest about oneself to others will make your bonds stronger (I'm serious about that last part, there is psychological evidence that people like those who self-disclose about themselves more than those who don't as that shows trust and vulnerability).
3:50 i love how she just changes voice actors whenever she sings
Fr💀
idk if anyone mentioned it yet but their superhero costumes have “quantum masking” so that explains why nobody can recognize them.
another thing, I think Gabriel’s dialogue at the end is from a past conversation, like a flash back but with words only, if that makes sense, with the purpose of letting the audience know that Nathalie knew all about what Gabriel was doing (and maybe hinting a part two maybe with her as the main villain hopium) instead of suggesting that Gabriel is still up to something. He already defeated them and could’ve used the miraculous, but he didn’t. He gave himself up, so it wouldn’t make sense for him to scheme further afterwards.
I took the ending as something Gabriel had said in the past. And since Natalie ended up with the peacock miraculous in the show, I assume they're setting her up as the next villain since I think she ended up being in love with him and was jealous? I got annoyed with the show for sending the two mains off with other people (even though it's realistic, I don't want that in my cartoons, lmao), so I was actually really happy with how this movie handled their relationship. Yeah it was kinda dumb, I laughed at the "power of love!" stuff, but also I unironically loved it, too. And honestly the animation was beautiful.
I finally watched the movie in theatre today. And let me tell you it was fantastic. It was 50/50 7 year olds and girls my age(20). And i'm not kidding when i say we all gasped, laughed and aw'ed through the whole movie. At one point people clapped(the scene where Mari talks back to Chloe). It was so much fun. The more unrealistic it got the more funny it was. Every mariinette's mental breakdown was so hilarious. I would totally recommend watching it with kids.
(Sry for my eng, not my1st lng)😊
Whatever issues you have with the story, you gotta admit the animation goes hard
Ikr. I see nobody in the comment section appreciating the gorgeous animation in this movie. Like, slander the movie all you want (I loved it, though it did have its flaws) but at least appreciate that it’s better than the show and the animation is pretty. Like come on!
The animation is gorgeous! 3d animation was falling off recently, so it's always nice to see this
@Hassan ES honestly 😟 glad that it’s still surviving
@Hassan ES how is it falling off?🤔
Ikr! Cat Noir looks amazing in this style I love it so much!!!!❤
No matter how chaotic this movie is I can’t stop thinking about the graphics on this compared to the tv series. Like….
For me the most welcome change was that Marinette doesn't just obsess and "celeb-crush" on Adrien, they actually are friends, unlike in the show where Marinette is like highkey a stalker
Fun fact: it's not actually a reboot, it's a alternate universe type movie. The official series still has 2 confirmed unreleased seasons and will be sticking to the original plot :)
my biggest problem with the movie was just how many more things they could've added to it, like literally none of the side characters except for alya, nino, and chloe were given dialoge. i would've LOVED to see luka, the rabbit past and future girl(idfk her name), and even some of the side villians like felix and lila. The movie was okay but i wish instead of all those singing parts they added more to their life when they weren't superheroes
TBF, I always figured the biggest irony of Miraculous was that if Adrien and Marinette knew Gabriel's secret they'd no doubt say "You want our powers to bring your wife back? Okay, no prob, we'll do that for you" I don't know if it would have ever actually worked, but really surprised they didn't at least try that angle here.
That wouldn’t happen because Ladybug knows that in order to make a wish with the ladybug and cat miraculous you need to sacrifice something equal to the wish. Basically if you wanna bring someone back from then dead someone else would have to die in their place. At the end of s5 Marinette does find out what Gabriel wants but still tries to stop him because she doesn’t want anyone to die to bring Emily back.
15:15 Marinette asking Adrien out as a normal person without uttering 16 times in one sentence and tripping gives satisfaction after all these painful years 😭
Bro fr
Same lol😭😭💀💀💀🖐️
Fr
Let's just cry tears of joy.
I'm not being sarcastic either that did sound like it though lol.
I was soooo ready for this I think one thing Alex will agree with. Is after I saw his video with the newer Matilda I kinda noticed like this movie in particular kinda did the same as Matilda where it had so many songs in it that once you’ve just swallowed one piece of information of the movie it kinda gets drowned out with the songs don’t get me wrong I loved them(confused why Christina didn’t do her singing voice cuz… she sings too soooo) but ya loved the ending my niece and I screamed so loud I’m not joking
been fan since i was 14, now im 20. the movie for me was beyond my expectations. i was very moved. the animation is just no words, they did an amazing job there.
I forgot this series is 6 years old💀
I honestly really liked the movie. There was a few parts where I wish they had a bit more maturity to it, but overall, the singing was cool, and I think they did a good job. Would have rathered Christina Vee sung the english version though.
Only people who have watched the series know how satisfying 15:05 is
SHE DOESN’T STUTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Sean Anderson I KNOW. *IT'S AMAZING!!!!!!*
I love the show, despite it being practically a repeat of the same thing they show a lot of character development for Marinette and Adrian being in love the story definitely feels much better than the movie the movie moves way to fast we don’t see other characters from the show being an actual part of the movie and we don’t see them interact with everyone mainly because the movie was always a singing moment. Don’t get me wrong the songs are ok but the problem was that they kept going with others songs and one stopped the next song kept going there barely was any action or there was it was only about 10 mins long and then a new song it’s kinda annoying tbh I don’t like how Adrian knows about his father so soon when I’m the series it took 5 whole seasons for Adrian to know who marinette was and his father it felt rushed do to how little time they had during the end. The fight at the end was kinda weird cause the world gets destroyed in seconds marinette gets her powers taken away and Adrian seemed hopeless. It’s weird and it just wasn’t giving what it needed give. I was hoping more dialogue and more between Adrian and marinette. The voice actor for marinette I honestly didn’t feel it was good especially her singing it’s just too different. To sum it all up the story was just too fast passing.
I just want to thank whoever did Chat Noir's sound design. I loved hearing his little bell jingle when he moved. It was so well thought out and executed so nicely. It wasnt too loud to take away from the scene and just made the movie more realistic.
I noticed that too! I thought it was nice touch
I also loved the new sound effects of ladybugs’s yo-yo! I thought that was so cool
I'll look for it the next time I watch it 😊
He legit sounded like my cat! It was so adorable!
I just want to thank whomever didn't sell this up to Disney so kids can still enjoy movies for kids.
I need to watch this movie! It feels way more realistic when it comes to grief, relationship issues, and bullies than the show could ever be.
to me the movie felt like a fix-it fanfic, after all these years of following the show I just feel like the movie did a lot more than the actual show and it was satisfactory to watch
So idk if you were serious or joking about the identities, but for insight in the lore, I believe it was mentioned that the miraculous jewels are charmed to protect the holder's identities. Wish they stated this in the movie
Then again they went like 2-3 seasons without saying this and then they only mentioned this in a special
I really expected ladybug to actually defeat hawkmoth and that his real identity would be revealed AFTER he was defeated. Instead he went willingly and ladybug's resurrection scene wasn't what I hoped for. But I still think that it was pretty good and a lot of people probably wanted that. Also, ladybug's lucky charm wasn't really showcased in the movie and it was only it's restoration ability that was shown, so that was kind of disappointing too. And lastly, the creators of the cartoon and movie said that the mask actually had magic abilities so that characters wouldn't be easily recognized with just their voice, hair, and overall appearance.
I absolutely love how Alex went through the same motions as I did when I finally watched the movie
🤣🤣🤣
I honestly love the relationship between Marinette and Adrien in the movie. It was so much more satisfying to seeing them in their hero costumes banter at first
Same😄💖
I AGREE MUCH. I've waited YEARS for them both to be in an actual healthy relationship but is very disappointed with the show. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER in this movie, despite her voice is having some problems. And some awkward moments -
@Garfiled yeah it everything seemed way more satisfying
Honestly, I loved Ladybug and Chat Noir’s relationship. We barely saw Marinette and Adrien be together without the costumes. I get why, it is called Ladybug and Chat Noir: The Movie. But still, it would’ve been nice to see them together more and fall for each other as themselves without the costume and Adrien falling for her as well and not just her as Ladybug.
@fio Same!! The Adrien and Marinette scenes in the show were some of my fav
Honestly, the movie finale was better than the end of season 5. Also i live for that sparring scene, i wish the show would have used one of its many many filler episodes on estabishing the dynamic between Chat and LB like that. About the idea of making it "audience appropriate"? I work in a primary school, the 6yo kids basically breathe miraculous. And while there are a lot of teens and young adults in the fandom we can't ignore that the show is on Disney for example. It's directed at kids, as long as just a fraction of the target audience is so young i believe there can't be a full tone shift. And that is one of the things i hate most about miraculous
Am I the only one who loved the movie? I watched it with my friends and we all loved it 😂❤
You are not the only one who loves the movie 😂 it's was emotional I cried when the part Adrian cry of happy tears when marrite told she ladybug 🐞
I almost cried... I just watched it like a few minutes ago for the first time
I adored it! 💕
Honestly, when Marionette's mom did the whole "listen to your heart" thing, I instinctively said "my collar bone?" Alongside Alex without even realizing it 😂😂
Nice to see another person with my sense of humor
I just wanna correct you there, they are not teaching Them to hold in their emotion, but to work trough Them instead of harboring very strong emotions as hate and such since those emotions often ends up causing violence it’s actually a pretty good portrayal of that.
Although I do see why some could misinterpret it :3
i actually enjoyed the movie-- unlike the show we got somewhere. my biggest ick with it though was the fact they used different singers than the voice actors and didn't even try to have the sing voice match the speaking voice-- and the original speaking voice of Marinette is a singer and sings in the show
The movie was obviously made as an apology to the fandom (rightfully so) and tried to fix the problems with the show, idk why Thomas didn't have this kind of approach from the beginning. It would've made the show even more famous and likeable. Movie >>>>> show with 5 seasons
Edit : Jeremy's vision for the series would've been better, the movie being proof.
What is up with the weird fans defending the series in my replies, y'all it's not that serious 😭? If you like the show, it's fine. No need to drag others down bc they liked the movie better??
It’s because this is not Thomas, it’s Jeremy’s vision
@Gracekim25 yeah I saw the credits for the movie, really wished the show would've also been directed by Jeremy.
....Wait so, they are rebooting this mess?? I am okay with this since from i have skimed and read it was pretty bad and the finale kinda kills all future stories.
Honestly tho, I can't wait for someone in 50 years to take this show and reboot it to something better!😃
I heard Jeremy is taking over the show and god I hope so, it deserves so much better than what it's gotten
me and my friends watched this without knowing it was a musical, so when Marinette started singing, our faces were pricelessly hilarious
I watched it with my mom and we didn’t know it was a musical and when Mari started singing we literally had that pikachu surprised face
After that crappy finale, this is the official finale to me it had everything that should have happened in season 1 this movie was an apology to us fans, Adrien and Marinette! After wasting eight years of our time this is the canon finale we deserved and now that I've seen what I wanted to happen I'm DONE with this show period!
This video is literally the most funny movie review I have ever seen I was laughing every 5 seconds to the point my parents had to check is I was ok 😅
I'm so glad you did this movie! The second I saw it on Netflix, I thought, 'I really hope Alex Meyers reviews this'.
13:13 In the show, the mime was actually pretty cool. One of the closest villains to get their Miraculous
The movie literally accomplished stuff that the show didn't. They didn't make Marinette creepy, Adrien wasn't sidelined to put Marinette in the spotlight, and their identities were revealed instead of the bullshit excuses that Astruc uses. The only thing I don't like is how they ruined my boy Plagg, and the fact they didn't let Christina Vee sing her own songs, but apart from those things, I think the movie turned out great! :)
Edit: Okay, Adrien did get sidelined. Not only did they not show him saving Master Fu's life, but they didn't really show his reaction to getting his powers now that I think about it. I think that to me, Adrien standing up to his father and finding out about his father's secret identity to me, was him finally getting some time in the spotlight because they RARELY happen in the show, if ever. But Marinette still had more screen time that him even though he should have been focused on more. Sorry about that 😓
Love your pfp!
yes, if they didn't ruin Plagg, the movie would've honestly been perfect in my book
Marinette was never creepy
The show explains why she did it
It was due to ptsd also it was endearing when she did it
Plagg and tiki swapped personalities in the movie it’s not ruined just different
Because they promised Lou a role in the film
I think it’s funny how awkward cat noirs dialogue is. I’d imagine Adrien who has been a shut in his entire life and was only allowed to be friends with Chloe of all people wouldn’t know a damn thing about normal social interaction and his humour is just bad puns and internet brainrot. It makes sense
I love that they actually fixed how ladybug treat cat noir, people hated her being so mean to the poor boy. She is much nicer to him in the movie(love it), but the show should probably keep as it was, cause it's more fun? Also, sorry guys I loved how they chose musical, since 5 seasons of information is not easy to explain, so musical is a straight forward and interesting story telling, I personally thinks. (still kinda cringe tho, but as long as the songs are good, I kept listening to them the past few weeks) :D
The movie was beautifully animated, the voice actors did amazing and i love how they build the relationships but I absolutely hated it only because I’ve committed to watching every single season of miraculous ladybug for them to throw all the concepts and rules out the window
His reaction to her singing encapsulated mine perfectly 😂
Nah i think the epilogue is meant to be passing on the torch to Natalie as a villain, like he’s reformed but he does have a huge secret basement with the perfectly preserved corpse pf his wife so i think he said thag to natalie in confidence to be like “hey delet my browser history when i die” type deal but Natalie is gonna go all “actually i will be the one to bring your wife back”
It’s still better than the show. The movie took an hour and a half to give us the reveal that 5 seasons couldn’t. It’s a shame they ruined Plagg, had too many songs and they wouldn’t let Marinette’s Va sing.
In defense of it, and as a fan of more than 7 years, the reveal happening any time soon doesn't make sense. The characters are nowhere near ready for it, and besides, I think more than half of the fans are glad it hasn't happened yet. The last thing we want for something as big and awaited as THE REVEAL to be rushed and not meet our expectations.
Not how ruining works
Ikr?? I love Cristina Vee's singing voice and I was kinda upset that she didn't sing. I mean she sang in the Christmas special!
Wait they had Cristina Vee and didn't have her sing. How!?
What was it in the contract for her to not sing?
I've been waiting for 3 years for this movie this was the best hough I agree it was wire for singing as marinette sounded completely different Def through me of
Haven't watched the video yet, or the movie for that matter, but just from the title I have to say: if you think that's news to us, you've stumbled into the _wrong_ fandom.
We know it's bad despite it's massive potential. We resent the producers. We love it anyway. Being a Miraculous fan is like picking at a loose thread on your favorite sweater and pulling it, and pulling and pulling and pulling, until you look down and realize you are only wearing half a sweater, but you can't stop now, so you just keep pulling.
Yes
Yep
Mhm
NO THAT IS SO CORRECT THO BRO IMP E BEEN OBSESSED WITH THIS SINCE I WAS EIGHT SO MY SWEATER IS NEVER RUNNING OUT OF YARN HELP ME GOD!
How come everyone ignores the fact that Marinette's singing and talking voice sound wildly different
Ok so this movie really did take risks for Miraculous, it touched on some dark stuff I was impressed with! (For Miraculous)✨definitely not perfect but a massive improvement over the show (oh Ps anyone else thing that Marinettes singing sounds…off? I can’t describe it, it’s good! But I think they needed to pitch it up cause her talking voice is always pitched up, I legit thought someone else was singing lol)
For the concealed identity, they really do fuck that up. Like here in the movie it's really never explained at all. In the show, they don't fully explain it until the New York special. (But at least they explain it I guess. Eventually.) It's a vital part of superhero stories. People tend to forget about that detail if the hero only has a mask or part of their face covered. If it's a hero like Spider-Man where their whole head is covered it makes more sense. I guess magic is a good excuse (kind of a copout, but whatever,) but it _does_ have to be explained otherwise the viewers will still be confused.
I was 6 when miraculous started (I think lol) so I enjoyed the extra VIOLENCE in the movie, because yk, the audience has matured a lot. I also liked that the powers they had were more complex, rather than “you have an animal, it does this one thing that will only help us for this specific thing”.
I think what I hated was the ending. Just think - if chat noir was a different person, he never would have stopped. And I hated that.
Also, it’s a ladybug because they mean good luck. I’m not too sure why it’s a yo-yo, but in the show the yo-yo gives her LUCKY charms soo yeah lol
The movie was honestly good, what really bothered me is how much the singers didn't sound like the voice actors themselves. Christina Vee can sing too! and has in the past for Marinette's songs :/ All in all the visuals of this movie were stunning and the relationship between Adrien and Marinette seemed better than the show
I heard the French original had a voice actor who can sing but use another person to do the singing too, it's intentional, for whatever reason 😅
@TeruteruBozusama 😭
@TeruteruBozusamayes, I watched it in french and it bothered me sooo much
As much as it sounds odd to hear Lou's voice in contrast to Cristina's, I think it was the right thing to do. Bc it seems like they meant for the soundtrack to sound more "professional " so people can enjoy listening to them independently. And also it looks like they made the songs specifically for Lou to sing. Cristina wouldn't have got the right tone as her
Bro all movie's do it hell look at OP film Red they cast a singer to sing for UTA called ADO & I doubt I saw JP and Western fans crying over the JP VA not singing idk why this fandom is the only one who can't accept another person singing for a character
Thank you Alex! You definitely made my day a little bit better! I was laughing so much!
The show is about understanding that it’s okay to have big feelings but also that they don’t have to be bad. Later on the kids start refusing hawkmoths akumas not by ignoring their emotions and forcing themselves to be happy but allowing themselves to feel them and being okay with their emotions
I just love how in the miraculous franchise, the only people with their own style are the people featured on the show 😂 like marionettes whole class had such stylish intricate outfits and the rest of the school walks out wearing a tshirt and jeans lmao
Is nobody gonna talk about how whenever Marinette sings she randomly turns into a 30 yr old woman?!?!
I had a horrible evening and night and your video made me feel better so, I thank you for it. ☺️
Weirdly enough, the movie handled the plot of Miraculous better than the actual show did. The first half of the movie felt nostalgic to me and brought back that feeling of loving Miraculous like when I was younger.
Movie is always better than the series
het ❤😊
Same😄😄
@baeldaikokuten wdym? There are so many movie adaptations that are NOT better than the og series
@Christina_YJAvatar the last airbender disagrees
Ok but all things aside *the animation is BEAUTIFUL!* Especially the hair, Chloe got such a glow up Omg
Literally saw this movie twice in two days lol I loved it! I thought it was silly at times but I throughly enjoyed it
I literally watched this with my sister and had a mental break down everytime 1 of them sang💀
But it always makes me laugh listening to Gabriel because he has the same Eng VA as Zhongli(Genshin Impact) & Hisoka(Hunter x Hunter) and i always have to giggle at it.
I definitely agree about how the movie should’ve been a little bit more mature. I started watching this show when I was 5 and now I’m 13. It was really off-putting to watch a movie that was kinda immature and had very cringe jokes at times😭
Can we talk about how 'My Lady' (the CatNoir song) was completely off the hook!? It was SO GOOD!!!!
I agree with alex, i think they should have taken some more core aspects of the show and aged it up, as the majority of the fan base is teens and adults, and made a new, 2d animated show (to differentiate more from the original)
It’d be weird to make a new show when the current show is still airing, wouldn’t it? It’d be like running TMNT 2012 and Rise of the TMNT simultaneously.
Don't ever expect a 2D show from this franchise. Ladybug's spot would be a nightmare to animate. It would cost way too much money
@Alexosthat’s the whole reason they didn’t make the show an anime as it was originally pitched
@Hi Yeah exactly
to be fair, i like the fact that its light hearted.
I have seen so many shows go "this is for adult therefore we must make in sad and dramatic"
You know the ones, Riverdale, Velma, the winx movie... Making it "for kids" is the whole reason why i watch these shows.
There will be no sex, the drama will mostly be stupid (marinette not wanted to go to a party because her ex is there ...) everyone will be happy at the end.
Sure it's a bit goofy but that why i watch them. I don't want to think how much life sucks and horrible.
Plus colors !
About the 2D, i think it would be too expensive and not really """"""follow the style""""""" that the show was built on.
The movie cat noir made me feel like he was an actual teenage boy trying to flirt by making fun of her. But I wanted Adrian to at least be mad at Gabriel at the end
In the show they explain that the miraculous have some sort of “quantum masking” so it’s like impossible to tell who is behind the mask if you are a human. In the New York special, there was an AI android who was able to tell who they were because she wasn’t affected by the magic of the miraculous.
Being someone who grew up with the series, I noticed how they grew up. So watching this movie, it feels like they completely did reboot the series.
Honestly probably the worst part of the movie was Gabriel’s realization that Adrain was cat noir, like it was NOTHING like his reactions in the show. Spoilers btw: Like in 2 different time lines when he finds out who cat noir really is, he’s not all like “oh no I was fighting my son” he would just akumatize him and use him to try and beat ladybug, one time he actually screwed up with it SOO much he destroyed Paris and the other time he won but some time stuff happened. Like seriously if the movie version was like the show one he would have seen cat noir was Adrien and went “oh wow, ok let’s continue fighting now lol”
you forgot to include the best part of the whole movie where paris is torn to shreds by hawkmoth and adrien just completely misses it because he's playing careless whisper and pining for ladybug!
This movie is literally a fat middle finger to Thomas Astruc, not even joking. Jeremy did in less than two hours everything Thomas couldn’t do in 5 seasons. Marinette isn’t a crazy stalker, Adrien shows actual emotion and his grief is more realistically portrayed, Gabriel is a decent father and actually shows remorse for his actions, the chemistry between ladybug and chatnoir is beautiful and they’re EQUALS, Chloe is a normal mean girl and not an irredeemable monster, hawkmoth isn’t an idiot and is an actual scary and strong villain, the fact that they reveal identities, etc. These are all the things the fandom has been asking for years, so this movie feels like a breath of fresh air. It isn’t perfect by any means but it was still beautiful, truly what miraculous should’ve been like. I know Thomas is probably out there somewhere embarrassed as hell at how much better of a writer Jeremy is😭
Adrien does show emotion in the show. Especially towards season 4 and 5 so I'm not sure what you mean by that. On top of it Adrien was more of a douche bag in this movie. Also, there's so much chemistry between Ladybug and Cat Noir in the show. The progression of their friendship makes complete sense. The movie was just a rushed version that made them fall in love in minutes. How was that good chemistry? Also, the movie and show just took different approaches to Gabriel. In the show, he's a narcissist, and in the movie he's just a troubled man. So comparing the two doesn't really make sense. This is just my opinion.
@pinklov 444cool but I meant that Adriens grief is more portrayed here, like he is reclusive and angsty while he isn’t like that in the show. I also meant how he actually stands up to his father while he’s obedient in the show. As for the chemistry, I’m referring to chat noir and ladybug after the montage, like the wall scene and during stronger together. In the show ladybug and chat noir never have moments like those. As for Gabriel, in the show he shows no remorse towards Adrien when he discovers his identity and literally abuses him. Here, he actually regrets and apologizes to Adrien. So idk why you think Gabriel isn’t that different. You’re free to have your own opinion idc but mine is that🤷♀️
@Mariana Villegas Personally, the way he is very meek in the show makes absolute sense. People who grow up with toxic parents are very normalised to their parents behaviours so some stay very unreactive to it for a long time. Also, in season 5 we discover that the fact that Adrien is a sentimonster which plays in heavily into why he has been so obedient for so long. Also, for me personally the development of ladybug and cat noirs relationship in the show makes sense to me, and I love the sweet moments within the show that had a build up leading to it (like the season finale of season 4 and how they fell back together with a stronger bond after all the tension they experienced that whole season). To me the montage in the show may be cute but for me it was just rushed and they don't have a deep emotional bond that leads to that point. Also about the Gabriel thing, that's what I'm saying; him not being remorseful in the show and instead being egotistical also makes more sense to me. This is a man who is okay using people's feelings, including children's for his own needs. Him being remorseful makes no sense to me. In the show he's shown to the generally more controlling whilst in the movie he's more neglectful, so his character is a lot more malicious in the show; basically nothing like the movie. I think I like Gabriel's portrayal in the show more because I have an abusive dad myself, so the absolute selfishness of Gabriel in the show is absolutely accurate.
Sorry if I'm annoying you with my replies. I'm not trying to say your wrong. Just want to express my reasoning behind my opinions on the show; as an abusive victim, they've portrayed the experience more realistically in the show compared to the movie.
@pinklov 444 But in the movie, doesn't Gabriel treat Adrien differently, hence the response is different?
@JS yes i get that, but what doesn't add up to me is that a man can simultaneously use people (by akumatising them) for his own purpose and then be remorseful. in order to use people like that and risk hurting and killing people, it's very weird that you would be as empathetic as he was portrayed to be in this movie.
Wow I think I might be one of the only ladybug fans that isn't in love with this movie 😅The va differences between talking and singing, the singing itself, the oversimplification, I think its just missing part of the charm of the show. It absolutely does some things better, some interactions feel much more human, but it still feels off. Its funny that you mention the minion movie, that's exactly what my friends and I compared it to when we watched it. I need something in between the show and the movie, not moving as fast as the movie, but not as achingly slow as the show. As a couple people mentioned, an age up wouldve been nice too, late high school or early college? so much of the people still watching started like 8 years ago...)
Watched 5 seasons of mlb just to see that in the movie they accomplished the story to the end immediately😞😞
It's still fun to watch the series tho, yknow that deep sigh of satisfaction and relief you feel after seeing the ship you've wanted to be together after 8 years is now together
As someone who watches mlb for 8 years I’m gonna say that the movie was 100 times better than the series ik it was rushed but still it gave us everything we wanted to see in these last 8 YEARS
