Atheism isn't a religion, you can claim it is, but it doesn't fit any of the definitions I've found. Such as:

'a particular system of faith and worship' - no, it's based on evidence not faith, and we definitely don't worship anything.

Josephus and Tacitus were both reliable non-Christian historians who reported on what they knew were accurate sources, they were not ones to report hearsay, to say that they were severely underestimates their abilities as historians and both are considered reliable. Both of them talked as if Jesus was a real person, Tacitus even said when he found sources to be skeptical and he didn’t say so for Jesus, and because he hated Christians, if Jesus was fictional, he’d absolutely write it down and maybe Josephus too. The Tacitus passage is completely authentic, the James passage by Josephus is completely authentic, the Testimonium Flaviniam was unfortunately doctored by a scribe but take out the interpolations and you still have him mentioning Jesus. Read the translation from the Arabic manuscript, it’s more likely what he said.
Atheists and skeptics may try to argue that the sources aren’t contemporary, but that doesn’t matter as long as their sources and information are reliable and in Josephus and Tacitus’ case, they are, if you take out the divinity of Jesus (I mean if the Bible didn’t exist), you’d still have reliable information of the historical Jesus and I believe that His divinity causes people to have an extreme bias against the historical evidence. And as I said, Josephus and Tacitus were not ones to report hearsay, they reported accurate information from accurate sources. It doesn’t matter that we don’t know what their sources were, just that they were both reliable historians.
I debated two mythicists a few months ago and they showed blatant ignorance of the evidence. Anyway, whoever reads this, don’t listen to these types of people, they don’t understand how historiography works. The two mythicists referred me to Richard Carrier and Matt Dillahunty, both of whom’s views on the historical Jesus are looked down upon by pretty much every scholar out there, so they’re guilty of cherry picking. The Jesus myth theory in the eyes of scholars is something not even worth noting down in history books.
Don’t bother debating atheists on the Internet because they’ll never listen. They’ll try to argue that as atheists they are more rational and logical when that couldn’t be further from the truth, they’ve shown complete bias and ignorance of evidence and have flawed epistemologies, show complete arrogance and overestimate their abilities as critical thinkers and bully people for their religious beliefs. It’s just going to make you as a Christian develop hatred and anger and could lead you into sin.

Why is there not piles of non-Christian poems, short story, lore songs, etc of the story of Jesus? I mean, that would literally be the hot topic for all the writers and artists of the time, even the non-talented artists and writers would have been all over this. I personally do not believe in Jesus or god but I respect every different person and whatever they believe in. The evidence for Jesus is the New Testament, the evidence for the New Testament is Jesus , Church fathers believed in the New Testament which bares witness of Jesus, the new New Testament is historical or historical based fiction, there is a lot circular logic here.
I agree with you if someone assumes there was even a New Testament at that time. Which there was not, different portions were going around, but it isn't reasonable to say that these people were using the NT as evidence. I'd say that if its true(I am currently holding the position that it is), they wouldn't even of needed the writings if they themselves knew the people. The fact is that the NT was not intended to be some kind of argumentive textbook, it's intended to be a letter of sorts to a community of faith. If you get the wrong idea, you're going to get the wrong conclusion. So in answer to your question I consider the NT is a void which Christianity has proclaimed as historical fact. If a person excepts on the basis of faith along that’s fine but not history, If an unbiased preponderance of evidence exists then the opposite conclusion must be considered.
