  • Welcome to a journey through the captivating world of Post-Impressionist landscapes, as we explore the artistic genius of Gustave Loiseau. Brought to you by Gladwell & Patterson, London.
Witness Gustave Loiseau's ability to capture the essence of the rural landscape, his skillful manipulation of colour and light, and his unrelenting pursuit of artistic innovation. These are not mere paintings; they are gateways to moments frozen in time, to the very soul of nature, as seen through the eyes of a true master.
This collection of paintings will be on view at The Palm Beach Show at the Palm Beach County Convention Centre in February 2024.

I disagree that Loiseau moved beyond the influence of Monet and Renoir. In fact, his painting at 5:29 (using purple, green and pink) looks to me to e a direct response to Monet's Waterlilies (which can be thought of as post impressionist in tat they are almost abstract at times). Wonderful video nonetheless. Thanks for posting and sharing these great works. He also appears to have been influenced by Pissarro (@ 5:51).

But why do we always admire only old works so much?

Yes, we're in the grip of a certain 'passé-isme', I notice this in classical music as well.

I suppose it is because we find in them a spiritual beauty that lacks in mainstream contemporary art. I wouldn´t change Monet, Vuillard, Denis for Luc Tuymanns or Gottfried Helnwein.

The thing is watching the Zeitgeist of post impresionalism, there is no reason to present these art works is goldplated baroque frames. Those guys had no nail to scratch their holes. We need a presentation in full industrial style. Raw materials and the cheapest frames you can possibly get namely French pine. Now it looks Versailles.
