Will My Grandpa's 100 YEAR OLD Lures STILL Catch Fish?

- Today's video means SO MUCH to me because I got to go out and catch some fish on my great grandpa's vintage fishing lures! SURPRISINGLY, these lures actually performed very well on today's fishing trip! I know that a lot of people started off fishing with their grandpa just like me so I felt it would be so awesome to use some of the most popular antique lures / vintage lures from many years ago!

I personally don’t think a fish can tell the difference between and old and new lure in fact i think old lures work better but what ever ya do don’t lose old lures they are going to be amazing one day in the future

I only wanted 1 thing when my dad passed. His Tacklebox!! I realize it wasn’t as full as cool stuff as I thought it was as a kid, but I’m so happy I have it. His is all metal!! There is a reel in it I’d love to get fixed! It’s an all metal casting reel! Just bought my son his own Zebco Omega Pro!!

Yooo A-Dub, I’m struggling casting my baitcaster. I was wondering if you feather the spoil straight after you release line or when it’s about to hit the water ?
When you make a cast with a bay caster take your time after school when it is in the air when it looks like it’s getting close enough to the water gently put your thumb on the spool like you were putting your foot on the break your thumb access your foot spool is the break I hope that helped
Step one is learn how to properly set your spool tension and brakes, theres plenty of videos showing how to do this, start with settings that you dont have to use your thumb at all, you wont have very good distance but you will start to get a feel for the baitcaster. Remember you cant whip the bait like you do with a spinning rod, its more of a powerful sling action not a whipping action. once you feel comfortable with this you can start backing off the brakes slowly, you will notice the line on the spool fluffs on the second part of the cast usually, this is where you apply slight pressure with your thumb and when the bait lands you need to stop the spool with your thumb to prevent overwinding. eventually you will be able to sling baits with very little spool tension and little brakes because you will be able to feel what the line is doing with your thumb and be able to correct the spool speed.

None of these lures are 100 years old the oldest lure in that tackle box might be 50 if he's lucky

Awesome catch on that first lure. I don’t think pops would have kept it in the box unless it was juice. You should be able to catch a ton on those saucy baits. I’m pretty sure fish haven’t kept up on the latest and greatest over the past couple of decades. Lol

There were plenty of wooden lures I just didnt use them in the video. These were my great grandfathers so they were around a long time ago!
