The larger/smaller room combo is meant/ideal for families. Parents in 1 room, children in the other. Once you get past the main door, you can keep the 2nd door open so can walk between the 2 rooms.
I've seen another ship (on youtube) which has a similar setup so you enclose off something like 4-6 cabins! Now THAT could be really fun on a group cruise!
Yeah, I think we watched the same CZcams channel before! 😜 That would be very cool. I wonder if other ships have that option and if you can ask to search for them.
Jay I believe the keypad is on the small refrigerator for cruisers who have medication that needs to be refrigerated. A nice feature for safety reasons. Thanks for all that you do for us. Enjoy you and your vlogs.
I was on the sister ship, Anthem of the Seas, which is practically identical to Ovation of the Seas. I had this same room and I would like to add that if you pause at the 1:10 mark of this video, you will see a button. That is a doorbell 😂. I found that out because our steward rang it to introduce himself. This room is perfect for a small family. Not too big. Not too small. My favorite feature is the balcony. It is canted so you have a forward facing view and it is HUGE. It's a nice ship. I had a great time.
The cups(2:29) you have on your table is part of your soda or refreshments package. There’s a chip underneath your cup that registers to the machine to allow you to get your sodas at the walk up machines
My family and I were on the Ovation on the May 5th sailing. All 8 of us left with Covid as well as countless other passengers. We heard the crew also had a Covid outbreak. Word to the wise, wear masks onboard. 😕
I had one of those single interior rooms that are paired with the suite on Ovation last October. It was a great single room, tiny room but big enough and has a surprisingly large shower.
Hi Cruising Jay. Hooray your finally ready to go with your Mom to Alaska. I don't know if it's just me but I thought a "suite" room would be a whole lot bigger, but maybe I'm wrong. You're right the balcony is big though. Have a blast with your Mom.
Love the balcony! Huge! Bathroom grreat. I do not like that other "room" when you go to yours...weird. I wish all ships had the kuerig type coffee machines. Mmmm chai latte. For two NON sleep together travelers, I like the Princess ships mini suites better because there are drapes that separate the "living room" from the bed. Even has a second TV. Works better for privacy when I travel with my son or niece. Thanks J!
I was on Ovation last week from 5/5 to 5/13. RCL protocals are pretty good and everything was clean but I still got Covid while wearing a mask. Be careful travellers
That suite can spoil you!!! Make sure your mom realizes this suite is not what the average cruisers maybe sailing in 😂😂😂😂😂 She’s sailing good this cruise and I’m happy she’s getting the experience ❤️❤️
Was searching for vids about the Celebrity overboard this week and can across your videos. Just realized you are on the same cruise as me right now as I've seen you dancing at a couple of events this week lol.
Room 230 is an interior studio stateroom. I stayed in that same room on the Anthem of the Seas. The outer door was kept wide open during most of the cruise.
We are going to Alaska on Ovation Of The Seas in Sept 2023. It will be our second time as we did this same cruise in 2019. Thinking about upgrading but not sure if it’s worth it. That bathroom is pretty nice, I have to admit! But for us, I have to wonder if it’s worth $2000 more than our regular balcony room. I’m thinking nah. 🤷♀️ Thanks for the informative video! Great work, as usual.
Awesome video Jay enjoy your cruise with your mom that lock refrigerator is a mini bar your room Stewart can open and can empty if you don’t want the contents in it because they will charge you for it if you drink it love y’all stay safe out there 👍🏼👏🏼🙌😎🙏🏼🌹❤️😍🥳😎🥰🚢
Jay! I'm sure that was the mini fridge and NOT a safe on Your tour. Notice there was a safe in the closet area and you never did show us the refrigerator. There must be a combination on the mini fridge because that would be a VERY large safe. Overall great tour and enjoy the cruise🛳
the configuration of those rooms creates the ability to create a pretty cool 3-bedroom family suite. The jr suite, that 1 person little interior room and then another regular balcony room that connects as well. We had this on anthem of the seas for a family cruise and worked really well! The only bummer is the little single room and the regular balcony do not get any suite perks so it is kindof a mismatch and the jr suite people use a lot less of their perks since the rest of the family can't join them...
Hi, the extra room is designed for families, it’s another smaller state room so parents can have their suite and the kids will be in the other room. It would be consider a joining room at that point. I asked our cabin attendant when we were on anthem of the seas. My husband and I purchased joining rooms and there was a suite next to us. We were curios about doing that next time.
I love staying in Junior suites for the extra room, but those darn bath tubs are so high making it hard to get in and out of. I usually pay around $3500 for a junior suite as a solo traveler. The 1st cabinet you opened was the fridge, alot of the older ships ive stayed on have keypads on them. I hope you and your mom have an amazing cruise, ill be sailing to Alaska on Quantum of the seas next year.
Thanks for the tour! Always nice to see this kind of documentary from the safety of home, without having to spend money on the actual travel, so that we can better decide which cruiseline and which ship makes the most value for money for our next vacation-experience.
Going to be in the same room (dfferent floor) next month! 1st time in a suite! How do you know what amenities are included with the suite once you are on board? Also, I'm pretty sure that big "safe" is still just a refrigerator with child lock.
Hey J, I hope your have better luck getting into Coastal Kitchen on Ovation. When I was on Allure (2800 passengers out of possible 6400) we had a Jr. Suite and were only able to get into Coastal Kitchen one time. Of course full Suite guests had priority and if there were any seats left, then on the day you wanted to dine, you had to make a reservation first thing in the morning. I tried calling, I tried going in person, and was never able to get a dinner reservation for that evening. On the next to the last day, the restaurant host took pity on us and and made a reservation for us for the next day but reminded me that it was against their rules to make a reservation a day in advance. I'm glad we finally got in. The food and service and view were wonderful. I just wish Royal had been upfront about the limited capacity, rather than leading us to believe that we could dine in there any evening. I hope it's different for you and your Mom on Ovation.
Had cruised in both Jr suite and inside on this ship and will go with inside from now on. Inside had just as much storage. The separate dining with suite is very convenient but not worth 4X price!
Hi J: DeeDee J here to say "loved the tour of the room. I'm here in Ohio but I've been on 2 Cruises. A 4day & a 5day. Looking forward to a seven day...Eastern Caribbean. I really like the Jr. Suite , very spacious. The balcony 😍. I love a roomy balcony. Thanks for the tour . I have one question about the room . Is that price per person or double occupancy ?
All hail J, all hail J, your new 🎤 looks like it has an upside down goatee on it. Style it up a bit J. As for the other room (10230) that is a category 2W which is an Inside cabin for a single cruiser. I'm sure it serves its purpose. That was a long check in line out there, I bet you're glad you and mom had the Jr suite for priority embarkation. Don't freeze your a$$ off in Alaska, but you deserve to enjoy it. 😉 Hi from Bob and Jill in Connecticut
1:12 I like to call these the transformer suites but reality is you are in a Jr Suite that can be converted into a 2 bedroom Jr Suite or a 3 bedroom Family Connected Jr Suite… If you look closely, there are actually 4 doors.. The door you open from the main hallway to access the staterooms 10230 and 10232… 10230 is actually a solo interior studio room. You overlooked the white door which I’ll get to later. So It’s basically a flexible arrangement where you can turn your Jr Suite into a larger family suite and since every families have different needs, your Jr Suite can turn into a various size Jr Suite to meet the need of the family. For starter, the specific Jr Suite can accommodate 4 people. What happens if you have a family of 5? You can combine 10232 and 10230 for to create a 2 Bedroom Family Jr Suite. So let’s talk about that white door… that door actually leads to Balcony stateroom 10228. The reason why it isn’t included on the list is 10228 also have its own door to the main hallway. If you have a family of 6 or 7… you can now create a 3 bedroom family connected Junior suite and 10228 would be essentially the master bedroom for the parents. The mystery I haven’t figure out is in brochures it says this combination of staterooms can accommodate 10 people. That would make sense if 10228 can fit 4 people but on the deck plays it indicates 2.. I guess maybe they can use the sofa. 10230 is designed for 1 but you could in theory fit 2 kids on 1 bed in there. Regardless, for a large family, you can have up to 3 bathrooms in your suite as a bonus. Here’s a diagram on what all 3 rooms combined will end up looking like: tinyurl.com/2m38jzvs Fun Fact: When Quantum Class first came out, there were several tiers of Jr Suite… the best were the Junior Spa Suites.. those would be the ones around the midship elevators. Hey J. Wait. You make these videos on your phone? What kinda storage? Ok. Room tour. The safe is huge. The chairs do look comfy. You didn’t want 2 twin beds? Awww. Giving your mum the luxury of the entire bed. The balcony is huge. Wonder why so delayed in getting ppl on the ship. And you’ve been on since 11 ish if I remember correctly. A second safe? That’s different. Bath is nice. Tub. You get some of the amenities. Nice. You can compare Coastal Kitchen to your previous experience. J. Is that $5 - 8k per person? Anyway thanks so much and see you next video.
Jay that is a cooler. It keeps the stuff pretty cool. Room looks good. Bon Voyage, enjoy the time with your momma in Alaska. The soda cups go to the soda machines on board. Did you buy the soda package or the drink package with everything in it?

You are correct. I was just on board last week.
Jay I think the cups at 2:27 are for the soda machines which is part of the soda package.

Those cups give you access to soda from the machines at no charge if it is the same as other Royal ships.
the balcony ...wow!!!
The keypad is used for back when they stock the fridge with alcohol if there was anyone under 21 it was used to keep them out😉
Jay, check again what you thought was a safe. On Symphony OTS that is a fridge with a key pad.
Yeah pretty sure that's the fridge. It looks like the ones they had in our room on Celebrity Apex.
My family and I were on the Ovation on the May 5th sailing. All 8 of us left with Covid as well as countless other passengers. We heard the crew also had a Covid outbreak. Word to the wise, wear masks onboard. 😕
I think the 'safe' is actually a mini fridge but it can be locked - something they used to do when they would pre-fill the mini fridge
Just came home from Discovery Princess and this ship looks wayyyyy better.
I had one of those single interior rooms that are paired with the suite on Ovation last October. It was a great single room, tiny room but big enough and has a surprisingly large shower.
Is it considered a “single” cruiser room? If so how was the cost?
Thanks Jay!
Those cups are the soda machine all inclusive cups

Hi Cruising Jay. Hooray your finally ready to go with your Mom to Alaska. I don't know if it's just me but I thought a "suite" room would be a whole lot bigger, but maybe I'm wrong. You're right the balcony is big though. Have a blast with your Mom.
This is a junior suite about 50% larger than standard balcony cabin. More like a mini suite.
Enjoy family time with Mom...
That MAY be a mini fridge with a lock on it. I doubt they would put 2 safes in
That cabin 10230 is a studio cabin usually used for single cruiser.
Love the balcony! Huge! Bathroom grreat. I do not like that other "room" when you go to yours...weird.
