I don’t think you’re an idiot! I think it’s genius you are getting these cars back in good shape! I have an XK and even though it’s low miles (sub 50) did the same thing. Only thing is a slight bit of roof lining. They deserve to be at their very best and on the road. Keep going! Cheers K
Thanks for tuning in… I am really appreciating all the people who have encouraged and advise me throughout these daunting tasks. I’ve learnt a lot from the viewers
Would love to have you work on this motor. You’re so thorough with everything from sourcing parts to identifying problems without spending an absolute fortune.
She will look stunning when sorted, if you hadn’t bought her you would be kicking yourself, good luck & hope all goes to plan “it’s going to be interesting watching the transformation ! 😃
You’re right if I walked away from it at that price point I would have been thinking ‘of only…’ now I am just praying there no nasty expensive surprises. Let’s see what Jaguar Chiltern make of her on the 4th September for when she’s booked in
So glad I got a XKR. It's got it's "issues" too. Rear park sensors bit sensitive. Driver heated seat not functioning. Washer bottle leaking. Driver door bit temperamental. Parcel shelf falls down. Feel your pain. Everything else ok so far. Lols.
Can’t wait to see this one saved , you know your way round these stunning cars no rush but it’s gonna be a great transformation keep up the good work brilliant channel 👍🏻
I'm an XJS person for the last 25 years 14 with my present car. I've been looking to modernise in the form of a 4.2 XK. Your advice and recommendations have been brilliant, thanks and really appreciated. The only problem I now have is finding a car that ticks all the boxes Thought I had last week bit worked passenger window loose but functional and both front and rear subframes noted in a recent MOT as corroded but not affecting structural strength. So I think spending more on a well sorted example is the route for me. Keep going with your really good video coverage of your new project and good.luck.
I was going to have a look at this one, as I bloody love and want an XKR in the emerald fire green. Seeing it now In the video though, I would have walked away personally. But I do look forward to the transformation, and you will really fall in love with it, as it gets better and better I think.
Greetings from the States! Looks like most of the issues are cosmetic (sagging head-liner would be my major annoyance). BubblIng paint would be addressed before it goes too far. Noticed you have the rare optional Adaptive Cruise Control which would appeal to those using cruise. You might also have the adaptive headlights which is a feature I miss on my current XK. Anyway, huzzahs on your latest!!!
Great purchase, really looking forward to your adventures - I've been following all your episodes with the black XKR you have just sold. Sort of makes me break into a sweat when I look at the UK prices compared to those in Australia. I have just purchased a 2013 XKR and when I went to insure yesterday they would only insure for the "Market" price of $83,000. (about£40,000) big difference from £6,750. I'm keen to see what I maybe up for as you uncover the hidden secrets.
What a bargain ! Loving your Chanel this will be fun getting this up to scratch,I own this same colour but just a standard 4.2 2007 in march just under 50,000 miles it’s blood lovely always been a Mercedes driver but once you get in an xk it’s hard to go back. Looking forward to this journey I hope you get more subscribers you deserve it 👍
Sure it will it will come good in the end. I'm particularly interested in how the aluminium corosion is tackled. I have a couple of nasty bits on mine. Has to be treated in different way than normal rust apparently. Anyway, good luck with the project 👍
I hear the aluminium corrosion is only the paint not the aluminium itself. I think there is no getting away from sanding it down and painting the entire panel but will speak to bucks bodyfix… who did a cracking job on the last XKR’s bonnet
That is a beautiful car. So timeless design. I think XJS and XK8 haven't aged that well but this model is just right. Not so sure if that chrome suits it that well though.
Please don't forget the old WD40 trick for cleaning 'the product' off dulled headlights. I was surprised when I first tried it, how effective it was, and it saved me buying a new lamp.
Wow… an E-Type a the Holy Grail of Jaguar Enthusiasm and British motoring. My kids are too young for me to afford one but it’s definitely on the bucket list as soon as my youngest child turns 21
Get this . Took mine out of the garage for the first time in the rain , only because I had to 24000 miles on the clock and 🤷🏼♂️ Engine light came on 🤷🏼♂️
I am sure it just needs to be driven mate… I hope you do plenty more miles in it mate. Life is for living… and cars are for driving. They get ill if they don’t get regular exercise. Am sure it’s nothing but a dated under-used sensor. These engines are very reliable… the sensors? Not so much…
Definitely not an idiot - it would have most likely be worth more broken up (not condoning that)! Would have bought that myself to use as a daily keeping my 2010 XKR for best :-)
Congratulations, still looks a nice car. With regards to the lights, there are mobile companies who clean them and make them look like new, probably charge about £100 to £150.
Will speak to the Bodyshop when it goes in as to what they can do with the lenses r even Jaguar Chiltern (wouldn’t be surprised if Mark has a hack for changing the lenses only without paying for a new assembly).
Also ask him if removing fuse 19 makes a difference to your exhaust sound. My cousin bought an XK from them and fuse 19 was in the glove compartment. But it was actually removed by the owner. So when I bought mine I was asking Paul if they would remove mine too, Paul didn't really know what I was talking about but Mark did when he asked him. It actually gives the exhaust a bit more growl when you start the car up.
It metallic green by any chance 😂😂😂, it was dirt cheap for that, mine is an 08 and i give £10k for it 2 months ago, its a sorted car but highish miles aswell, i look forward to this venture, it'll look unreal.
Yea I know that colour is just something else… and when it’s on an XKR… oh my god… you just can’t walk away at that price. I didn’t even want another XKR. but that colour and that price was the perfect bait for me. I can’t wait to get the paintwork sorted, corrected and coated 😍
Not yet no… so far I have spent £400 getting the headliner sagging sorted out. Will be done in a couple of days. The rest is all for greasy bits and I might have to wait for paint (car polished up better than expected so can live with it for a while). You’re right though. I don’t think I can do paint in my budget
Dont worry about buyers remorse, we are all looking forward to the transformation

Well done! Glad you went for it. Your video made me chuckle quite a few times and I'm looking forward to watching the journey

It will make great content. Looking forward to your journey.
Can’t wait to see it refreshed it looks fab and what a price
I'm excited bro, I pick up my 07 in 3 days so excited to be part of this community!
Welcome aboard fella… it’s a labor of love but I have yet to meet anyone who regretted getting one of these
Off we go again 😂. Good luck fella. Those jobs you mentioned like the headlining and Service we should have a collaboration 😊

Yea… it’s not a perfect XKR but it’s all yours and it doesn’t care about stupid things like common sense 😂😂
Well done that man. You've definitely got the xkr bug!!
Can’t wait to see this one saved , you know your way round these stunning cars no rush but it’s gonna be a great transformation keep up the good work brilliant channel 👍🏻
Thank you so much for the encouragement Ian. I could really use it right now lol.

I was spellbound with your narrative, so thank you regards Chris
Thanks for the great compliment. I told my partner about this comment as evidence she ought to pay more attention to me

As much as you love that color, I can taste the regret. But I'm also looking forward to seeing it come together.

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I have just got it back from the Jaguar Chiltern today… an update video is in the making. 🎬

Funny you say that as the chrome was aftermarket and not OEM. it has now been removed and looks much better for it
Don't worry about the mileage..,regular service and they keep going. I drive the 4.2 XK with 195k on the clock!! Just can't let it go 😊
💚
Please don't forget the old WD40 trick for cleaning 'the product' off dulled headlights. I was surprised when I first tried it, how effective it was, and it saved me buying a new lamp.
I’ll definitely try that when it inevitably fades again.
Don’t panic I do the same thing with Etype’s I kid myself I can do without one with in weeks I’m looking and buy again

I'm not going crazy with this car like my last car.... Famous last words. :)
Reasonably feasibly 😂 . that's why I'm not a CZcamsr. I'd be 100 times worse. 🤣Great car! Hope to be an XK owner sometime in the near future.
Congratulations, still looks a nice car. With regards to the lights, there are mobile companies who clean them and make them look like new, probably charge about £100 to £150.
Yes my list is so long of things I want to do to this car.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. 😂 good luck though. 👍
Or get skewered by the sword. Lol. This restoration is my gift to Britain’s roads
If your not too far from Milton Keynes, I know an auto trimmer. Replaced my saggy headliner for £250, like new now!
Oh wow… I am not too far at all. Please do provide details 🙏🏼

By the way… you got a BARGAIN for £10k. Fancy a swap I will pay you the difference £3250… I’ve a sneaky feeling the answer is a HELL NO
You seemed so happy with the last one ! 🤷🏼♂️ and now ? You’ve got Jag Covid again ! Well , here we go again ! 🤦🏼♂️🤪
I don’t know what came over me man… I just saw a green XKR for £7k ready to get broken for parts really. I just couldn’t walk away
I don't think your 5k will go far. Good luck though, looking forward to the transformation.
What are you like😅
You would have soon got bored driving an E250 1.8 😆
😂😂😂
So you have spent your five grand old chap
You could have got a nice slk diesel for less
Five isnt going to do it
