  • These are frozen green peas put into boiling water in the microwave and cooked for 1 minute and then I peeled the outer skin so the fish can eat it. They LOVE green peas! I have fishing line with a toothpick tied to the end and that's how I serve the peas. We currently have 6 guppies and 2 otos... the guppies are named: Uno, Ocho, Pumpkin, Shadow, Azul and Two Carat. The otos are Micro and Macro. Do you have an aquarium? Is it salt water or fresh water? What kind of fish do you have in there? If you have video of your tank, please drop a link below in the comments and I may share it! I do moderate all comments, so if it's not appropriate, I won't put the comment through. :)

Those are amazing healthy guppies! I have been in the fish hobby for two years. I have two 3.5 gallons, one 5 gallon, and one 10 gallon. Every time I have gotten guppies, I have not been able to keep them as healthy as yours. Well done!

We had one pass away a few days after we got him... Carat was his name and that's why we now have Two Carat. They appear to be doing OK... so hopefully we continue having good luck with them. Have you posted your tanks on here? You should and then comment the link to the videos here and I'll put the comment through so others can view them too. :)

The toothpick is a good idea! I want to try feeding my guppies (seven males) vegetables, but when I tried feeding them a pea the other day they just let it sink to the bottom, didn't even try eating it. I'll have to try that!

Let me know if it works well for you. Make sure to cook the peas before feeding.

It works... I have a guppy tub in my backyard. Once a week I feed them peas, I use a paper clip instead of a toothpick, because with the toothpick some peas where falling to the bottom. My guppies go crazy about it.

Is the toothpick attached to a string? And how do you prepare the peas? I want to try it to my 6 male guppies

Yes, I used a piece of fishing line. I cut a notch in the toothpick to tie the fishing line to it then push the peas up onto the toothpick. I boil frozen green peas in the microwave for about a minute and a half. When done, cool off by dumping the hot water out and adding cold water... this will stop the cooking so they don't get too soft. If they get too soft, they will fall off the toothpick. If they are too hard, the fish can't eat them well enough. Once threaded onto the toothpick, I drop it into the tank, near the wall so it doesn't move too much and they loved it. Don't feed them it too often... read online, multiple articles, to find the feeding recommendation. Good luck!
