- Have you ever wanted to turn your electric guitar into an organ?
Now you can! The EHX C9 Organ Machine will transform your sound into one of many classic organ sounds. I have to say, it works great.

What do you reckon? I like the idea of this but I wonder how much it would get used at a gig? I might try layering up a few parts on an album with it. :-) Check it out using the links below:

Grooovy man, i can dig it.
If you're a second guitarist, just for that touch of variety something like these are useful, also they can sound awesome with a bit of gain.
Probably not a whole lot during gigs..lest ones doing some really funky original stuff...but man..what FUN one could have with this thing just grooving around the crib...reminds me of something Blackmore might use with his new stuff also...thumbs up from me mate
Gigs are the main reason I got one. It's much simpler to slap the C9 on a pedalboard than to go through the hassle of dragging a real organ to a gig (and/or a real organ player for that matter)...
I love the mel9 by EHX. Really cool for swells.
yup, setting 5 "Lord Purple" is THE preset I would use 99% of the time. I am a HUGE Deep Purple fan!! R.I.P. Jon Lord
tony93666 I want my band to cover Highway Star so bad. This would be perfect!
sounds a lot better than I ever would have thought
Great job on these shane !! "Blimp" really does give off that its a nod to those 70's led zeppelin organ tones to me.
Great video thanks for making this! It answered so many questions I had
Sounds GREAT! If you're looping, or you don't play keys, this is a great way to add key-like textures live.
organ/harmonizer is my favorite effect of em all.
Always loved the Hammond B3 sound and this pedal does a great gob emulating it, hours of fun playing around with this one! Wonder how it would work in a live situation?
Cool sounds and as always, great demo! Shane, do all of your guitars have the controls wired backwards? I wasn't 100% sure but this video confirms my suspicions.
Shane, I would never have thought about a peddle like that, but your first chord progression after the intro really made me ponder using it in a song.
Maybe with, O Come all ye faithful??? .....Or , Highway Star??
Amen!!!
Using a B9 in my band.. I've had some gremlins with the pedal that even EHX couldn't solve when I sent it back.. But I'm loving it for a few of the songs we do... Tom Petty, Split Enz etc..
Whoa! A Love Rock! You dont see those every day!
Nice video Shane!
Thanks Ariel. :-)
Love to play with that.
Cool demo thanks. I wish they’d make a pedal to do grand piano, and harpsichord sounds.
A good pedal, very realistic. It WOULD make you rethink your playing however and HOW you would voice a chord to make it more realistic.
Shane, HAVE you tried the TC Helicon Harmony Singer as yet? It's been around 2-3 years now and is absolutely brilliant! Takes a sample of your guitar/bass/keys etc and composes very accurate and realistic vocal harmonies!
GIVE it a look dude!
So much awesome!. The EHX KEY9 Multi layered on a track would be Bitchin'
The best demo of this pedal I’ve seen on CZcams!!! I like the different organ sounds the pedal makes. Not sure if it would have a permanent spot on my pedal rotation, but it’s definitely seems like a fun pedal to create with. Great video!!🎸🎸🎸🤙🏾🤘🏽🤙🏾✌🏾
Great stuff Shane. Crying out for some Ray Charles through that thing :-)
I loved mine, but I sold it because a) I never used it live and b) I've got midi capability so I can use a 'real' organ sound. It tracks brilliantly though, before or after od, really good with acoustic.
I think it would be really neat using a looper pedal. Making a blues loop to play over
That would be great for the stuff i'm doing.
Wicked!
Would be groovy to have in a band, Really would probably be better than a real keyboard player in a band. Most keyboard players are like steel players. They don't know when not to play. But it is beautiful on songs that need it.
Lord Purple, Love It. How did you not put a little Smoke on the Water there?! Seriously though, Ive been wondering about this pedal for long time. Nice demo!
I ask the same question. Missed a golden opportunity. It's definitely unique, and I found a used one for a hundred bucks. I was thinking a deep purple tune or two, and maybe a Blind Faith tune,Allman brothers, Mott the Hoople. Also a lot of blues bands use a Hammond B3.
edgeofeternity101 Great ideas there! I was thinking its great to lay in a set that is otherwise filled with only guitars. Gives the audience something a little different in a song or two.
Hi. Can i play the Doors and Beatles songs with this pedal ? Thanks.
I bought the B9 soon after it came out but it is a bit of a curate's egg. The sounds are a mixed bag and they haven't got the key click right at all---it's more of a key clack.Good for stabs and pads though.
Same as all EHX products
I swear in some areas of playing it sounded like DZ Deathrays, they had a rundown list interview of the gear they use but I didn't see 'organ' pedals. The one interesting pedal was a DigiTech bass synth Wah pedal which is probably how Shane from DZ gets that similar sound
Dunno if anyone knows what I'm talkin about haha, but the DZ Deathrays track in particular is 'Play Dead Until You're Dead'. If you listen in this video at 2:46 for a few seconds that sound is sooo similar in my opinion - Shane if you see this, how else do you reckon Shane from DZ gets this sound? I'm real interested!
I've got one of these. It's surprisingly good but the leslie effect isn't great. Using the tone wheel or lord purple sound with the C9 leslie effect off and running into a better rotary effect works brilliantly.
Also, to get the best out of it, you have to play like a keyboard player. Playing guitar parts through it (bending strings, strumming chords) doesn't work so well.
that's right, the Leslie is very light, I added the "EHX Lester G" (with a bit of "drive" / gain) in the chain, it sounds perfect with the 3rd preset ("Compact" i.e. transistor organ, with the tremolo effect down), absolutely amazing !
While I agree this is probably the more usable of the two pedals (EHX 9), I found this one to be almost generic and a lot of the tones sound similar. The EHX 9 has a lot more variance to their sounds, even though some are probably not as easily usable. You'd think for the price of these they'd have up/down bank switching instead of a rotary knob.
Nice demo and sounds good, but each time I see pedals like this one, the Miku and the Ravish Sitar I have to ask why? Guess people have more disposable income than I do. Thanks.
Sounds like an effect I’d bet Larry LeLonde from Primus could figure a way to do something artistic with (or maybe just plain ol’ weird!) LOL 🤪
Add some gain on the Jon Lord setting for the best Hammond sound of all time.
nice 1 shane , however ehx boxes will give you synthersiserv whine if your cables and jacks are all over the place...................regards m8, howard leftie age 85 uk veteran
No presets,so it makes you bend over every time you need to make changes. Not a good idea for a live gig,but the sounds are very good on most settings.
Greg Koch can get awesome sounds out of these in his regular playing.
He's probably one of the top 5 players in the World (or that I have ever heard). :-)
Greg Koch could get awesome sounds if he plugged a box of rubber bands into an electric can opener. The guy just oozes awesome.
Deep Purple anyone
I think your doing too many bends, making it sound goofy.. or outa tune so to speak. An unnatural sound for organs i suppose.
No use whatever
