Join FRANCE 24 as we take a look at how we celebrate "Noël" in France. French people tend to have a big family lunch on Christmas Day, but the big day is in fact on Christmas Eve. Called the "réveillon de Noël", it involves eating traditional French dishes like oyster, foie gras, chestnut-stuffed turkey and a delicious log-shaped cake. Essentially, celebrating Christmas in France is all about eating until you pop. Joyeux Noël!

Its always lovely to see the beautiful Christmas traditions of other countries. It's also equally beautiful to see that these traditions are preserved and maintained for future generations

Fyi the stocking / boots tradition was because of st Nicholas he was a very kind man and would go around all the houses of the poor families in his city on Christmas eve and place one gold coin in the childrens stocking that were hanging up over the fire drying ( children usually only had one pair of socks so theyd just wash them everyday) then theyd wake up to a lovely surprise life would be a little easier for them for a while st Nicholas was the original santa he is where it all began its no wonder he was a saint 🎅👼 happy Christmas 2018 everyone 💕
