Hey Orvis guys, I watched your videos one by one and went fishing in between each one. First time out nothing, then 1 fish, then 2 fish, and today I got 24 rainbows in the Waterton Canyon 😎 thanks from Colorado

After all these years fishing alone without a guide and guidance, I discovered your videos and I hope I am learning something. Thank you.

Another great video! I don’t know how I would have learned to fly fish without Tom and the orvis guide to fly fishing

Some of my favorite streamers are smaller ones like muddler minnows and wooley buggers…they’re big enough to get the attention of larger trout but small enough that brookies will still chase em. And they imitate a LOT…from large nymphs and water bugs to tadpoles and small baitfish depending on your presentation.

    I use a 8ft 6 wt w/ sinking line for streamers

So what’s the best fly rod use for a novice fisherman? Something easy but something fish love to attack? I have some streamers and buggers but also slot of nymphs

Most people would say a five or six weight rod, we tend to lean towards a six. You can use for all types of species in America. Hope this helps

Depends on the steam size. Best all around would be a 5 wt, 8 ft 6 inch rod and you can use a 6 wt fly line for extra umph for nymphing across larger streams. Have fun. Don't spend $1 K for a rod!
