- On your desktop hit Windows key + R
- Type: msconfig
- Go to the Boot tab
- Under Boot options, select Safe boot and pick the Network option

So I was casually on my laptop earlier all of a sudden a voice came out my laptop saying "warning this is a message from windows you're firewall has been breached by malicious malware, your security details, bank details and some other stuff are at risk of being breached" absolutely shit myself for a split second I thought it was a warning announcement for a nuclear attack lol

This works 100% thank u!! After following the steps in the video, running a scan with malwarebytes in safe mode took out probably 90% of the viruses I had 737 threats!! after that I did a scan using Kaspersky free antivirus and removed the rest. Now my laptop is running so much faster than it did before and it doesnt freeze or crash anymore!!

isaiah julian If you can't access the Advanced Startup settings in Windows you can reboot and force your computer off when it's attempting to load Windows twice in a row. That should bring you into the Recovery boot and you can select Advanced Startup from Trouble Shooting options.
hit shift while you click on the shutdown icon in windows 8 and it will reboot the system with the advanced options window from there you can select which option you want!
Al Jack Those pop-ups were only ad-malware, they do drive people crazy, i went ham after getting one of those, got annoyed after 10 minutes and knew this isnt typical, though i removed it manually, as it is not hard to spot, viruses, however, are a different story.
Al Jack Ads/pop ups drive me crazy and sometimes give viruses, that's why i use Google Chrome's Ad Block Application, it works fine, and it actually helps alot

If you had a virus or malware you should run a FULL scan. Not a quick scan.

I've used Malwarebytes for nearly 8 years, and in all that time I have never had any problems with it. I see someone here saying "I just hope the program he is advertising is not also a malware!" So I am responding to that with this: If you make sure you are downloading it from the Malwarebytes official site, you can rest assured that it is not a malware program. That said, it is true that one should always research any unfamiliar protection software. Still as I have a lot of experience with it, and I have install it on all my devices, and have also recommended it to all my friends, and installed it on their devices, and never gotten any negative feedback concerning it, it has to be among the best free protection available, and is even better than most paid protection software!
Now on Windows 10 booting in Safe Mode at start up is almost impossible, due to the speed of the operating system, but you can get to Safe Mode via other means. I suggest doing a search for videos concerning this.
I will say that it is good advice to say get Malwarebytes installed on your PC even if you have not had any serious malware attacks. While your default Malware Protection Software may do a good job, it may also miss something that Malwarebytes will catch. Also, Malwarebytes won't treat other malware protection as malware unless it actually does have malware built in. If Malwarebytes sees it as potentially harmful, then it most likely is, and should be removed from your system.
Now Windows 10 comes with Windows Defender already installed, and it is actually an upgraded version of Microsoft Security Essentials. While it does a fair job of protecting your device, it cannot catch everything. This is why I recommend that you have Malwarebytes installed also to root out what Defender cannot. Indeed it is well worth having as your backup protection. Just be sure that you keep it up to date, because the updates come with the latest known malware definitions, and it is these definitions that it uses to scan your device against. Without them your device will be at risk, and I'm sure nobody wants that.
some virus programs don't play well with Malwarebytes. But very few. Malwarebytes is never the problem itself. I've had it on my computers for 10 to 11 years now. Found my perfect combination of it with Kaspersky regular anti virus. Don't get the super duper versions of Kaspersky, they are un-necessary.

I use Malwarebytes normally in my computer because I had a lot of viruses in it, we got them out and I got control of the computer again. I lost some things, but for the most part she is fine now.

B Cord Edleman Jr Actually you are half-right. I mean yes you are right about AV companies not making the viruses but they definitely help the process. It is well known that Norton, Mcafee and other companies, hire known virus creators and hackers to work for them.
Here is the logic of this is if you can not come to the conclusion yourself. They want someone who can think of the next step in virus attacks. They want a person or persons whose personality is to try to beat the system. This creates a competitive product that is tested the best way possible, before pushing out of the office. One can assume very tight legal binding contracts exist... That attempt to prevent the source code and exploits from leaking outside of the company.
It makes sense that a person hired to hack or beat their system would be very tempted to try to one up the people he/she is now working with and try to introduce a virus they can't beat and or release very sensitive source code flaws to the wrong/right (depends what team you are on) communities. Hope this clears some things up about why some people may think AV corps build the viruses as well.
IMO; They encourage the source code leaks, worst case scenario.
Best case, they either have terrible book keeping or useless lawyers.

In this case we are only running one anti-virus and one anti-malware, in this case they do not interfere with each other. But you are correct that installing and running more than one anti-virus at a time isn't the ideal solution for performance.
The Computer Made Simple VIPRE is the best. Not MalwareBytes. EVERYBODY..... INSTALL VIPRE INSTEAD OF IDIOTIC MALWAREBYTES

lol vipre scored 12/18 points on a lab test as an antivirus whereas bitdefender, Kaspersky, Norton, and mcafee all scored perfect 18/18. vipre also only blocked 8% of phishing URLs tested. vipre is no antivirus replacement and Malwarebytes would smash in a comparison of malware and PUP detection.

Step 1:Hover your cursor on the top right of your screen and drag it downward
Step 2: click on the "Settings" icon and click power
Step 3:Hold "Shift", press restart while you keep holding shift until the a screen pops up
Step 4: click repair computer

You will have to boot in Safe Mode and then go through files that are mostly looking like viruses and delete them, stuff like same date and time that you got infected and the files were created and all

I removed over 4K instances of malware off of someone's PC recently, but they were running XP and hadn't done any maintenance on it in years. Truly, I am impressed with your, albeit dubious, achievement.

Miss Rosie, you should start your PC with Safe Mode and Networking. To know how to do that, please CZcams 'How to start safe mode on Windows 10' and follow the steps as described in any of those tutorials.

Please help. I put it into Safe mode with networking but the virus was still loading. I thought nothing of it, so I proceeded on. I downloaded the antivirus thing but for some reason it didn't let me do a quick scan so I did the full scan. It detected like 200 and something threats so I deleted them all. Then I restarted and I logged in all normal but I still have the virus. :'( I had my hopes up and I was so disappointed because I've been trying all day to get rid of this pop up ad virus. I feel like crying because I just paid to get my computer fixed a second time now and now I feel like I have to waste money on it again... :'(
Delete suspicious programs from control program, get the surface of the virus off. Go to safe mode in networking and download malwarebytes and use premium free trial. Download CCleaner to clean your pc. Its a video on CZcams but I forgot the name. It helped me a lot.
