I'm glad you explained how to drop in the wind. I've seen so many videos that say just drop never throw the board down and every time I would run fast with a good breeze coming from the ocean my board would turn into a kite and try to kill me

fly 13 if you don't have much experience with board sports, I wouldn't try it. Unless you're short and bulky, you wont have a good center of balance to work with. I've skateboarder since I was 7, and snowboarded since I was 10. This year, once I hit six foot, i went out skimboarding and broke my arm. Be cautious

watched your youtube videos and taught myself to skimboard this summer. went from a wooden board chasing after it to a one step drop with a well fit pro board. This was super helpful! I’ve never had the chance to really try skimming (I don’t count once on a wooden board that was as big as me when I was ten lol), but I’ve been wanting to for a while. I’m hoping to use skimming to eventually become more comfortable in the water so I can try surfing.

Do you have a Twitter? I grew up skim boarding and have a major passion for it. I just always through it ran super fast and jump in both feet at the same time to get a super good run. My wife showed me this video so I can learn how to do it the proper way. Did the slow little run to attempt this and completely failed. Somehow my foot got caught in the sand because the rip currents were super bad so it was causing divots in the sand and I completely snapped my ankle super bad. In the hospital right now awaiting surgery in the morning. Super bummed. Would love to send you a picture LOL but regardless still love you and your videos. I will definitely be attempting this again when I heal ❤️✌️-Kayla

What are the cons of using a wooden surfboard? Can you ride it out into the waves like you can on a foam one?
Will Foulke his board is fiberglass and wood boards are for starting and skimming across the shore the fiberglass boards are for catching waves
You can but it will be more difficult than necessary. Use the wood board to learn skimming along the shore in shallow water and working up your speed. To reach waves you need to run fast as you drop your board, so work on that. As you start getting good, look into buying a more advanced board and go for it.
Can i use a skate deck to skimboard?
If you ride goofy, and are a beginner to skimboarding, do I still have to plant my left foot on the back first? Or can I do what feels natural and plant my right foot at the front of the board first?
Ur back foot
Yes you should plant your rear foot first even if you ride goofy. That said, lots of people seem to prefer to mount front foot first. That just seems silly to me. Either way, make sure your front foot is near the center of the board as measured tail to nose, not further up towards the nose.
How do you get your board to slide. is there something you need to put on it? Because I place it on the wet sand and it just stays there. So do I need to add something to the bottom of the board to make it slide

the40yogamer if you want to catch a wave it’s better cause you have more momentum but if you want to have nice long rides flats better

I've been skimboarding for almost 8 years and one of my problems is the wind especially when I'm drooping the board....and I just wanna ask if the wind is a big problem in other skimboarders out there....and i need some few tips in drooping the board even tho its windy...
1: Hold the board lower, closer to the sand when you drop it. 2: Use Austin's advice to throw it down a little more forcefully. 3: Drop it flat, not rear first. 4: Kick some sand on to the bottom of it to give it weight. 5: Use a monkey crawl mount. 6: Use wooden board instead of a light foam model.

Did you even watch the video? Yes that's bad. Step on the board with the rear foot first regardless of how you prefer to ride.

I think it's right
???? HE JUST SAID to approach directly from the rear, not the side at all. If you ride goofy then your left hand goes on the tail of the board. Which ever foot you put at the rear of the board, that hand goes on the tail.

Max Chernin no any board can do it but you have to start on land then make your way over to the wave (you need to go fast)

Doesn't matter. Just try to skim with your right foot rear. If that just doesn't feel good to you, then try it with your left foot rear. Decide which you prefer and go with it.
