    How Latinos Voted In The 2020 Election

    The biggest omission is that the Democratic party's messaging regarding Latinos isn't really targeted at Latinos it's targeting paternalistic White people while Trump's messaging was targeted to Latinos and that's why we saw gains among white people (specifically the proxies for privilege: education, wealth and age) for Democrats and outsized gains by the GOP among Latinos.

    • @fleebertreatise1063
      @fleebertreatise1063 Před 2 lety +3

      No it's usually targeting Latinos that want citizenship to be easier to access (without the 10 year waiting list). Also Latinos that know of other countries where education and medical care doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Not quite paternalistic whites, but rational self interest of the general public. If only democrats actually knew how to accomplish these things, or convince the right to vote along with them on these supposedly shared priorities.

    • @ArnoldTeras
      @ArnoldTeras Před rokem +1

      @@fleebertreatise1063 Both the Democrats and Republicans have policies I strongly agree and disagree with, honestly. But the American left has grown much more hateful in recent years, look at the "feminists" on Twitter screaming death threats against pro-lifers.

    • @fleebertreatise1063
      @fleebertreatise1063 Před rokem

      @@ArnoldTeras Well just because you vote Democrat doesn't mean you support hateful left types. There's a lot of infighting in the left wing coalition at the moment, so you could just be a "moderate" dem if you prefer that. I mean no one needs to be anything, but voting for democrats doesn't exclude a person from being somewhat right wing.
      Those specific feminists probably view the pro-lifers as contributing to the deaths of people who couldn't access abortion safely, which is a real thing.

      Yeah I'm Latino and Trump's messaging was just Latinos for trump and nothing else, Like maga should mean Maduro ain't going anywhere, and yes there are Latinos like me who support the Cuban and Venezuelan governments, because these governments know how to address the working class, the diverse working class. All Americans is address white working class males and white unemployed males. It's as if gay workers or women workers or black workers don't exist to the two party system
