The greatest teachers in the world love teaching but also value themselves as people and know when to leave the profession in order to save their dignity and also their overall physical and mental well being! Good for you for doing just that!

Great video! As a former teacher myself, I can totally relate to these mistakes. It's so important for educators transitioning into new careers to be aware of these pitfalls. Thanks for sharing!

This is exactly the same in private nurseries
. I’m a preschool leader and everything you’ve stated is exactly what I’m experiencing now! I’m relieved to know it’s not just me!

Definitely not just you - if anything it sounds like the funding stress is even worse in nurseries!

Tell me, what would you do to fix the system? Imagine your prime minister :-)

Listen to experts who know their stuff, learn from good practice in other countries, and recognise that improving education would be a long term project involving lots of factors other than schools. Not a job I'd be volunteering for though! Couldn't cope with politics.

Follow models used in countries where children thrive in academia. You need to remove the distractions and non-essentials and get down to business when in school. Places like China, South Korea and Japan have their youngest students focus solely on academia and avoid social distractors. Those come in once they have a solid grasp of the basics around grade 9.

It’s both sad and comforting to hear it is a similar story in the US as well as in the UK. It’s comforting because I can relate: It’s the same story in the US in public schools at all grade levels I’ve taught at. It’s sad because I thought that, other Western industrialized countries were better off. I wish teachers worldwide could organize!
