This was a historical moment. First time rap and rock collaborated. Everybody was jamming to this back in the day. Good memories and great reaction.
Yup, many beers in the barracks were slammed to this one. Good times, liver disagrees.
Yep. Then Anthrax and Public Enemy grabbed the metal heads and brought us over. This broke the ice though.
@@joesshows6793 yup, exciting time for those that liked both genres and those learned about a new genre. Well said!
got things like quarashi.limpB.koRn.Ratm.LinkingP.and many other to start a new genre short lived but damn it was good
@Jack Slack so good!
One of the greatest genre cross overs everrr
I prefer the collaborations between Public Enemy and Anthrax as well as the one between Onyx and Biohazard tbh. That said, it's certainly a milestone.
@@olavrell Meh, Helmut and House of Pain
And the 1st
@@olavrell ya, tough call...i remember borrowing that from a buddy ......for a decade :)
well they count as the one that kickstarted it
This song is a major reason that Aerosmith was able to have a second career in the late-eighties and nineties. Run-DMC was red hot at this point. Glad you caught all the little facial expressions, they add so much to the video. There's a interview where DMC said people told him "When the wall came down in the video, it came down in real life between rap and rock" and that is 100% true.
anotha durgs abuser,, go in therapy NOW !
@@jeanluke39 bruh, are you alright? You need to talk or something?
And then carried on well into the 90’s. Run DMC were bomb in 1986 and basically disappeared by the 90’s. Aerosmith wrote and performed this song in the 70’s then it found a new audience for this song after collaborating with RunDMC on this song.
And I’d really love to see you react to Aerosmith Dream On. It’ll show you exactly why they had the longevity that they had
I Honestly Do
Back when everyone got along. We need more of this again. I hope these reaction videos help bring back more fun to music and less politics! We all need more 80’s in our lives! 👏👏👏
Legendary indeed. Got a whole new bunch of people into rap and revived Aerosmith's career, which was in serious trouble. They both won.
Before this Tyler was living in a hotel surviving on heroin and 2 sugar donuts day, and Joe Perry was living in a boarding house with a car that didn't run.
@@johndavid4526 TWO sugar donuts?! Luxury. I made it on methadone and 1 unpowdered donut.
@Brian barnes one can only laugh at cretins like John and Ron. John and Ron... Sounds like some wannabe comedy team that, well, fell short.
Steve was boosting DMC if anything. And I love both of them!!
@@nolbertojcales1186 Heehee, I am a few years older than that! Love Run and Beastie Boys.
Steven does a flip and before he's even landed you fly off camera with exitement. This is why we all love you, man! ❤️
So True
You're reactions are so fun.!
Exactly, get a dose of Mr. Video & i always feel better.
This guy can always get me to laugh. I'd pay money, but free works too
This song was key in bringing cultures together. When Steven Tyler broke the wall down in the video that also happened in real life. One step at a time. "Always be open to try something new, because it might not only change your life it could change the world" DMC. This is real hip hop. Aerosmith Walk this way came out in the 70s. In the 80s Run DMC originally were gonna sample and loop the break beats and record there version of the song, Rick rubin shows up hooks them up with Aerosmith and a classic was born. Run DMC the originators of Rock/Rap with Rock Box, Kings of Rock coming before Walk this Way. With copy right laws you can't just grab a break beat and make a banger anymore. This was the first record I ever purchased.
Rubin was a mastermind when it came to this genre.
its too bad after all this time our "cultures" are still not together
@@raidermaxx2324 Ya sad its actually worse now than it ever was.....
Maybe it's just cause I'm really high but I swear his pillow is smiling at me lmao
Its Mona Lisa smiling.
cant unsee it now ihy lol
True but I wasn't going to mention it. Coz am not high but its grinning at me now the pillow it's crazy.
I was like what, oh shit there it is!
And now I can't stop looking at it
Y'know, you got a real decent Steven Tyler impression, man.
You sure do, and that's not an easy thing to do. You've got a cool voice.
I’ve said it before, if you genuinely tried you have a great rock voice.
I was thinking the same actually. With the right training he can do it.
Nah bro, it's the "smoker voice". I have it too but if i lay off the smokin for 3-4 months it goes away. Its not "consistent" enough to perform with
@@SUPERYOUTOBEMAN Tell that to Rod Stewart, lol!
(Cue 'Cigarettes and Alcohol').
Or really tell that to the enormous plethora of heavy smoking rock singers. After all, who says Mr. Video is laying off the smoking, lol?
@@JennRighter Lol
I’m not sure I have the words to adequately describe how truly GROUNDBREAKING this song/video collaboration was in the 80s. It definitely brought rap music to MTV and middle America...and it totally revived Aerosmith’s career for their huge 80s/90s career stage.
From what I have read and seen in documentaries, Run DMC didn't want to do this, but they stepped out of their comfort zone and did it. The result was huge not only for them, and for Aerosmith, but for the entire Rap genre giving it exposure to the rock crowd . Sometimes we need to step outside that comfort zone for sure!
A friend went to Vegas to see Tyler a couple years back. Grandpa still got it!
If you like Rap and Rock Collabs you should check out Anthrax and Public Enemy - Bring The Noise !
And All in the Family with Korn and Limp Biscuit
"Judgement Night" soundtrack is pretty badass as well
@@josephdurham6051 Everything on that soundtrack is fire!
Korn ‘Children of the Korn’ with Ice Cube
Yes, to these. Fantastic suggestions.💜
this broke boundaries. got hip-hop and rap on MTV and radio and in front of rock fans. got rock n roll into the world of hip-hop fans too.
an Aerosmith track but DMC used to use the drum break all the time then the cross over happened. check out Anthrax and Public Enemy - Bring the Noise for another old school crossover
This was originally a Aerosmith song that Run DMC remixed! It was the first big rock and rap collaboration! It was a huge hit in 1986 when it was released and a major game changer! I love both bands! ❤️❤️
Growing up with Aerosmith, this was a WTF moment. But when I first heard it, it was and still is awesome.
janies got a gun is also up there. song is still stuck in my head.
This song was the introduction to a new thing called "rap music" for a whole generation of young white kids. Myself included.
Check out Public Enemy/Anthrax "Bring The Noise" and the Beastie Boys "No Sleep Till Brooklyn"
LOVE “No sleep til Brooklyn “ Among others on that album- wore it out too! 🔥✌️✨
i think Blondie's 1981 song Rapture already did that.
@@bikingchupei2447 it came first, but none of us recognized it as a new genre in the way that Run DMC did
Rap and Rock and all genres of music are always just a few small tweaks from one another. It's why it's so easy to like songs from any of the genres.
Personally I dislike the type of Rap that my coworkers love to blast which is more like an unending torrent of swear words to a single monotonous beat. Like some sort of 12 year old doing a "poetry jam" that he thinks is edgy.
Ya Beastie Boys was first
This song is THE song that spawned an entire genre of rap/rock music.
The BEST collaboration in Music History!! Even today, 30yrs later, this song still Smashes!! There is nothing better than music to get EVERYONE together!😎😎😎😎👩🏾🤝👩🏼👩🏾🤝👩🏻👩🏽🤝👩🏽👫👩🏿🤝👩🏼👩🏻🤝🧑🏾
Everyone started to wear trainers without laces after that
Or tried to.
Black and white Adidas sneakers
I guess, truly, that it is to show that you have been taken into custody just recently.
@@SHERRYNYCREACTS True. Had to be Adidas to do it up right.
@@larry6360 yes😀
Run DMC revived Aerosmith's career with this crossover and didn't get enough credit for that.
That's true. There was a time in the mid 80s when Aerosmith was opening for Heart on tour
Yup. I was already super into Run DMC at this point (ever since Rock Box and Hard Times) but I only knew Aerosmith as "some old band" my parents probably listened to. After this song, I got way into Aerosmith for years (right up until they started doing seemingly nothing but big power ballads for movie soundtracks, at which point I lost interest). It was def a renaissance for their career though. Pump was an awesome album.
@@johnplaysgames3120 yesss! Someone else that’s actually mentioned “Hard Times!” Loved that song and still do- they album had some other🔥🔥tracks too! 🎶”Hard times is spreading just like the flu, watch out homeboy..don’t let it get you...”. 🎶 Ali cld go on but won’t- Raising Hell album was lit too, most definitely the title track !! 😊. ✌️✨

"Rock Box", "King Of Rock" and "Tricky" are my favorite from Run DMC
"That's how you make an entrance into the room. He said, 'You know what? I'm coming through the wall.'" LLLLMMMMMAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
When you've heard this song all your life, just to see his first time impression. PRICELESS! His reactions kill me.
Public Enemy/Anthrax
'Bring the Noise'
That's my favorite cross over.
I like when they said water buffalo lol
A million yesses!
Much better crossover.... they went on tour together after cutting that song....it was.... different
Nah, Onyx and Biohazard - Judgement Night or Slam.
I remember when this came out I said to myself who the hell is Run DMC. Opened up a whole new world brother. Glad you found this.
Strangely enough, it was the opposite for me. I was a Run DMC fan, but I didn't listen to much rock music and didn't know who Aerosmsith was. I sure did after this, though.
I was the opposite. I was who the hell was Aerosmith? Of course, I was like 9 or 10 when this came out...
Same here, doesn’t seem that long ago but it was, time flies😎
In 1999, Run DMC, Aerosmith and Kid Rock did this live at the MTV video music awards. It was legendary.
I love how they blended both of their sound together... AMAZING!!!!
Do you ever get excited to share a song with your friends? Keep your day golden ❤️
This was legendary. This was a major collaboration between rap and rock.
This was 1986 & you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing this song ♥️ The original of course was done by Aerosmith from their 1975 kick ass album “Toys In The Attic” 🔥🔥 Remember it well 😉
This Song is Fire! 🔥🎆🔥 Run DMC and Aerosmith were killing it!
After years in a drug haze, Aerosmith reinvented their classic 70s hit with RUN DMC. Kickstarted a rebirth that only Aerosmith could survive. The next few records released were classic 80s rock. In and out of sobriety, there were victories and relapses. Steven is unstoppable sober. He never disappoints but there is a performance quality and it’s obvious. I seen them stoned and sober. Much better show when Steven remembers the words to the songs. He actually used teleprompters sometimes. Love him ... he is so amazing. Joe, Brad, Tom, And Joey! They are amazing artists...
Reminder... tonight Rock Hall of Fame. Tonight on HBO and HBO MAX. You can start a 14 day free trial of HBO MAX. Then cancel after the show. There will be a tribute to Eddie Van Halen.
Four stars for reaction. Thanks for this reaction
It doesn't get more American than this right here. I remember hearing this and seeing it as a kid on MTV(yeah I'm getting old lol). This minute in history is one everyone should know. In this minute we were one. I had the privilege of finally seeing a live performance of this in August 2002, two months before Grand Master Jay passed.
One of the most important songs and videos in music history. Rap was growing and fast, but this video was rock - which had been on top for 30 years - publicly and officially acknowledging that rap was just as big and here to stay. And the song is a remake of an old 70s Aerosmith song, showing that the music wasn't so different after all. This was and is so cool. Iconic.
Bring the Noise , Anthrax and Public Enemy
YESSSS!!!!
A must!!
Im Begging he does a reaction to that song
It wld be awesome
It’s a about time you find RUNDMC! you need to listen to that whole album 💿! Cause before now, you was illin’ 😂
Yes!!!! We “be illin!” and “raising Hell!!” WORE the tape slap out!!! ❤️✨
“Yo, is this Kentucky Fried?” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Cannot go into one without thinking of this song. 🤣
One of the first rap/rock collaborations. I'm sure it was the first time areosmith fans were exposed to hip hop/rap and vice versa. This chit was groundbreaking in 85 or 86 when this joint came out.
This was 1986. The original is on the "Toys in the Attic" album from 1975.
Really good Steven tyler impersonation
Steven Tyler is still full of energy like this on stage even at 72 years old.
This was popular and so much fun when it was released..I was in high school 1980s. Super fun spin on a classic.
Same here. This was Da Bomb when it played on MTV. There wasn't a single kid at school that wasn't talking about this hit.
Back when the two groups decided to do this colab Aerosmith was not as popular as they had been in the 70's and Run DMC was known at the time but not quite superstar level. This one song propelled both groups into legendary status.
Run DMC: "Rock Box", "King of Rock"
Beastie Boys: "No Sleep Till Brooklyn"
That was like the first Rock/Rap colab ever! Rock was old and rap was kinda new. It was good thou!
Ah, memories. I was 12 when this came out, I watched the video on MTV as much as I possibly could! 😍
This collab made history! I remember the very first time this came out on MTV, it was legendary from 2 legendary groups!! AWESOME!! ❤️👍🏻
Your reaction to this video brought a smile to my face and laughter in my heart during a time that I was feeling in pain. Again thank you for being on my CZcams screen to make me smile when I'm feeling down. I was 13 years old when this video first aired on MTV, and a huge Aerosmith fan that didn't know very much about hip hop music at all. This is an all-time favorite of mine and your reaction was epic. Thank you for bringing smiles to our faces during this difficult time in the world around us. 🦋💜🦋💜
This is the first song that made me notice Aerosmith. I already knew RUN DMC.
Haha, I seriously though Aerosmith was a made up band because the name was so weird to me. I thought it was just for the video.
Me too!
Loved and listened to both constantly ! So when this hit.. I was stoked!!! 🔥✌️✨
Walk This Way is an Aerosmith classic from mid 70s
When Steven Tyler flips and you disappeared that was the best part, actually laughed out loud 🤣
Love this song....can't go wrong starting your day with Aerosmith. 👏 see music can bring everyone together. We need this today.
You do know Steven Tyler was almost 4o yrs old when he did that backflip.
I'm not a big country fan, but another great mash-up is Nelly and Tim Mcgraw, Over and over. The song is perfection! Glad I found your channel and I made sure I subscribed. Take care my friend, Anna

It's getting close to Christmas. Listen to the Run DMC song Christmas in Hollis if you don't know it.

The Birth of Rap Rock. The Beastie Boys came out right after this and a collab with Anthrax and NWA. Almost all rappers, rockers, and metalheads HATED this song when it first dropped. The hate was thick. But it eventually won most everybody over and birthed a new genre.
This put Aerosmith back on the map and RUN DMC's breakthrough to rap on Mtv. Neither of them wanted to do it either. Turned into a major hit at the time. Broke a lot of boundaries.
I liked it before you said a word because I have waited for this SO LONG.. and finally it's here.☺
It's a Amazing song by Aerosmith
RUN DMC, revived their career....get over it LAME🤨💯👈🏾
Many memories from this song. Changed the musical world.
The day i saw this video on mtv was a groundbreaking moment... It was 2 of my favorite music genres coming together as if to unite races.... This helped us talk with people who we didn't normally talk to....
Two more excellent rock/rap fusions:
Anthrax & Public Enemy - Bring the Noize
Biohazard & Onyx - Judgement Night
This thing was huge back in the day. Still fresh as new.
Fun fact: I'm from a city in Massachusetts. When my parents were in high school, Aerosmith used to play their dances, before they were famous.
That's what makes RUN DMC legendary. That is their style. It was revolutionary, song is still bomb to this day. Period.
I have always loved this song one of the best songs ever..I remember watching this video on MTV when it came out..I knew you would love it..
You've got's 2 be serious U haven't seen the mus vid but I knew you'd be hooked to the song I first saw this music video when I was less grey hairs 🤣 I still love hearing this 1 to
When I heard that Run DMC and Aerosmith were going to do this song together I didn't think I would like it. Was I ever wrong. I listen to it quite often. Leo, you're reaction to Tyler's flip cracked me up. When I saw Aerosmith for the third time in 2009 Steven did backflips from one end of the stage to the other and back. I pretty much had the same reaction you did.
Aerosmith was a former band from the past when Run D MC covered this. This cover revitalized their career. All of their numerous hit songs they recorded after this cover was owed to RDMC.
I was a child of the 80s and when this came out it blew my mind. It was and still is very influential to rock/metal music. I still rock the trainers with no laces.
I remember when this came out, it was groundbreaking and you’re right...it was legendary!💜
This collab was very normal and natural for the bands so it was legendary . Music is one and can come together .
One of those timeless songs. Amazing then and now.😮😮😮😮😮😮
Loved this when it happened, it brought so many people to work together. 💜
Please react to “Raising Hell” by Run DMC!!! Their song with guitar, rap and all! Also the tile of the album! Wore that sucker out back in the day! Still love it!! 💜❤️✌️✨
"It's Tricky" by Run DMC is a dope jam.
This was huge! It opened the door for black Rock gods and white rap gods. It also brought Aerosmith back to the airwaves after almost imploding and calling it quits.
RUN-DMC has always used rock music into their songs
Listen to:
King of Rock
Rock Box
Mary Mary
Peter Piper.
All of these songs before they collab with Aerosmith.
MTV this broke the TV back in the day!!!!
My dude!!! Discovering your channel during this Pandemic year has been my silver lining. Love sparking one up and watching along. Music is amazing. Appreciate you, much love from Canada

ANTHRAX / PUBLIC ENEMY - Bring Tha Noise. The OTHER great crossover.
Aerosmith wrote this song back in the early 70's.. Run DMC... put Aerosmith back on the map with this collaboration.. This is so awesome
Yeah as mentioned before, first time such a colab between metal and rap happened.
Aerosmith and Run DMC broke the barrier, they are forever Legends

I was a high school looser that never made it with the ladies.Na I was the playa B4 my daughter's arrived respect all ladies.✌️
This is so cool. Aerosmith, which had numerous number-one hits, had lost favor on the charts and had been reduced to playing at small clubs. By allowing Run DMC to use their song and also staring in the video, it brought this band back to fame and number-one spots and gave it a new life that is still going on today. It's amazing.
This song was fire when it came out and all these years later it still is. It was a groundbreaking tune. Mixing the two genres like they did. They did something special here.
You need to react to “My Adidas” by Run DMC ! 😎
The shoes without laces
