Welcome back to All Things Lasered LLC! In today's video, I’ll show you how to quickly edit photos for laser engraving using Corel and Photograv. This tutorial is perfect for anyone in the laser engraving world, whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills.
I initially created this video for a buddy of mine who is also passionate about laser engraving. After seeing how useful it was for him, I thought it would be a great idea to share it with the wider CZcams community.
Corel Photo Editing for Laser Engraving
First, we’ll dive into Corel, a powerful tool for photo editing. I’ll walk you through the simple steps to prepare your photos for engraving. From adjusting brightness and contrast to removing backgrounds and sharpening details, this section covers everything you need to make your photos laser-ready.
Using Photograv for Perfect Engravings
Next, we’ll move on to Photograv, a specialized software designed to optimize photos for laser engraving. I’ll demonstrate how to import your edited photo from Corel into Photograv, and then apply the settings that will ensure a clean, detailed engraving. Photograv takes the guesswork out of preparing photos for engraving, making the process straightforward and efficient.
Laser Settings and Variations
I primarily work with a CO2 laser, so the end settings I use may differ if you’re working with a diode or fiber laser. Additionally, your laser settings could vary depending on your climate and the specific material you’re engraving on. I’ll provide tips on how to adjust your settings to accommodate these differences, ensuring you get the best results possible.
