    For the 2021 season, Kentucky coach Mark Stoops hired former LA Ram's offensive coordinator Liam Cohen to be his new offensive coordinator and QB coach. He had high hopes that Cohen's NFL-style passing attack might help the Wildcats recruit a quality QB. This move paid off immediately as Stoops was able to sign 2 five star prospects thru the Transfer Portal: Junior QB Wil Levis and Junior WR Wan'dale Robinson. Levis felt under-utilized at Penn State, where he was a part-time QB primarily used in running situations. Levis, who has one of the most powerful throwing arms to ever grace the sport (he can throw the ball 80 yards), felt Cohen's pass-oriented offense was a better fit for him so he chose KY. Robinson, who had been a freshman All American at Nebraska, was a Kentucky native who was feeling a bit homesick. He had considered signing with Kentucky when he finished high school, but at that time, Kentucky was primarily a rushing offense. However, with Cohen now at the helm, Robinson decided it was time to come home.
    Levis is a big kid and a powerful runner with good speed. He can run over defenders and is hard to bring down--a valuable asset for a QB. Thus, Penn State would utilize him in situations where they needed a running QB. However, Levis wanted to be a passer and he posses an arm with no limits. In one video, he gets down on his knees on the 50-yard line, casually throws the ball, and is able to hit the cross arm of the goal post. Despite his tremendous potential as a passer, Stoops and Cohen discovered that he was still work in progress. He needed to improve his accuracy and work on his touch. Sometimes his passes can be right on the money, other times he overthrows his receivers, underthrows them, throws behind them (on crossing patterns), or throws an interception. The fact he is often inaccurate yet he throws hard and fast, means his passes can be hard (if not impossible) to catch.
    Where Levis was a work in progress, Junior WR Wan'Dale Robinson was the real deal--the total package. He had speed, he ran good routes, he had the ability to make amazing, acrobatic catches, and he could block. He was also a play maker. He's the type who can slip a tackle and then run 50 yards for a TD. His ability to make one remarkable catch after another, meant that unlike the other receivers, he could catch most of Levis' wounded ducks. Thus, he quickly became Levis' favorite target on 3rd down situations or in situations where The Cats were in the red zone and seeking a TD. By the end of the season, Wan'dale was named 1st team All-SEC and 2nd team All-American. He finished his Junior season at Kentucky with 104 receptions, 1,334 yards and 7 touchdown receptions in 13 games. His season total receptions and yards broke single-season school records. He also had some key catches that helped the Cats with a Citrus Bowl victory. Perhaps, Wan'dale's biggest accomplishment was the fact that he was able to make Levis look like a potential Heisman Trophy candidate.
    Unfortunately, Wan'Dale opted to leave KY for the Pro's at the end of his Junior year. Senior WR Josh Ali, Kentucky's second best receiver, was graduating, also. However, Kentucky was able to pick up 3 quality receivers (2 highly rated freshmen and 1 junior from the transfer portal). Furthermore, they had 3 tight ends that could block and catch. Thus, Levis decided to stay on at KY so he could complete his Senior Year thinking he would be a higher pick in the draft.
    But appearances can be deceiving. Despite Levis now having had a full season of experience under his belt, Levis' passing accuracy failed to improve. Making matters worse, Levis was unable to find a go-to receiver that he could rely on for third down conversions or plays inside the red zone. Without Wan'Dale, Senior Wil Levis had a very disappointing season and so did the Kentucky Wildcats,
    Despite a less than stellar season as a team and a less than stellar QB rating, a lot of experts were still impressed by Levis' canon of an arm and his ability to run the ball. Many expected Levis to be the first pick in the NFL draft (or at the very least, the 2nd pick in the draft). But Kentucky fans were more realistic. We had seen Levis play before and after Wan'Dale Robinson. We weren't surprised to see that Levis wasn't picked until the 2nd Round of the Draft. Simply put, Wan'Dale was the key to Levis' success. Without Wan'Dale, Levis sucked. There was no one there to catch all of his wounded ducks as Robinson had done the season before. Perhaps, Levis will do better in the NFL which is loaded with quality receivers, but the NFL also has quality defenders who can pick those bad passes off.
    Too bad for both KY and Wil Levis that Wan'Dale didn't stay on for his Senior Year. I'm confident Wil Levis would have been the #1 pick in the draft that year had Wan'dale played his senior year. I'm also certain that Kentucky would have won at least 3 more games had Robinson elected to stay.

      Love that fit. I honestly see a lot of Julian Edelman in his game. Very tough pass catcher in the middle of the field and elusive in space. Hopefully can get a little bit cleaner routes which he certainly has the physical ability to develop. Reviewed him and a few other WRs on the channel. One of our favorite guys in the class.

  • @smurphy98844
    @smurphy98844 Před 2 lety +2

    He's interesting to me. He has abnormal quickness, but I think his 40 will be high 4.45 or so. His top end speed is good, but not elite as much as you'd expect from a quicker player like him. That said he's also tougher than most quickness type guys. I see him as a 3rd rounder and would fit him with a team like the Pat's or Chiefs. His best attribute is his competitiveness.
    Bottom line: Kadarius Toney with less athleticism but much more durable and route running.

    • @rocboysfootball
      @rocboysfootball Před 2 lety +1

      Yes. Like he might be small, but is extremely tough catching over the middle. I see those exact things you said in his game. Did a review on him in the channel one of my favorite prospects. Pending the combine and his 40 I think he can find his way into the 2nd round if he can get that 40 into the low 4.4s.

    • @smurphy98844
      @smurphy98844 Před 2 lety +1

      @@rocboysfootball yeah, low 4.4s would probably put him in the second! Very interesting player

    • @smurphy98844
      @smurphy98844 Před 2 lety

      @patriots news report true, but his effective speed is more what I meant. Like Mike Evans at 4.45 is way scarier than a 5 ft 9 guy at the same speed. For him to be truly fast at 5'9 he'd need to be closer to 4.3 imo, because his lack of length will effect what you can throw him

    • @smurphy98844
      @smurphy98844 Před 2 lety

      @patriots news report So Edelman was never considered an elite deep threat, and Aghalor has struggled in the pros- struggled to live up to his draft spot. Cooks ran 4.3s. In the league you have to be faster if you are shorter IF you are going to go deep a lot. Antonio Brown would be an exception as he clocked 4.5s, but what I'm discussing is the norm, not the exception.

    • @smurphy98844
      @smurphy98844 Před 2 lety
