10:32 rabbit! Your wife refused to eat that? Didn’t think rabbit was that fancy.
Rabbit is like chicken.
Two hundred baked Alaskas!!! Wow!! That's amazing!! 👍👏
Baked Alaska is a moronic clown.
Dude, the best desert is a REAL Napoleon. Not the shit you buy in grocery store.
So many points I can relate to. I will not drink today; I have stuff to do tomorrow.
That's so awesome!!!! Keep it up! God bless❤❤❤
Amazingly honest!! Thank you! Scary to realize the extent of manipulation that alcoholics engage in. Very self-reflective video, LD. Being married to an alcoholic sounds super tough. Damned if you do and damned if you don't . . . Kudos to Mrs. LD on her patience and faith in you!!! Hope things get ever smoother!! ❤❤
Even without addiction many deal with mental health challenges daily.. personality disorders, regular people can be just as manipulative as well….
Addiction will drive you to do anything … it’s when we are in our active addiction we’ll do whatever it takes for that drug of choice.
Whether that’s food, gambling, smoking, sugar, alcohol, pills.. you name it.
@@Kristen10-22👆 this!
Thank you so much Kathryn!!!❤❤❤❤❤ God bless😊
Mrs. LD
I had two ex assholes, no excuse me...I mean "Ex husband's" who mentally and emotionally dragged me through the mud. (Bcoz, I let them). Both sorta drove me to drink. It's great you have so much going for you that you didn't give in to the "poor me" syndrome. Strong and blessed lady you are! BTW, I can't cook either. I had no chef living with me though. just a couple diamond tooth salesmen.
You’re blessed to still have your family by your side and your kids get to have a sober dad. My father died from alcoholism when I was 12 .
I am so sorry to hear that. I really am blessed and I am sorry that you had to deal with something like that at such a young age. I thought that my children were going to have to go through the same thing. Thank you for sharing. God bless❤❤❤
I'm so sad for you. 12 is so young.
Carrabbas comes to mind! Love this talk! F&B rocks! So many awesome functions!! 🙌🏼💯
Thank you so much Joyce! I had some really good times in f and b!!!! God bless😊😊❤
I'm imagining the piping of the meringue on the baked alaska!! Go,go,go on Bang,Bang shrimp!! Not so much on pate de fois gras, but I'm sure the customers were duly impressed!! Thanks!!😊
It was a nightmare!!!! A real nightmare! I can't believe I said I would do that. I lost sleep for nights over that one! Thank you for the question Craig! We enjoyed talking about it! God bless😊😊😊❤
Glad to see you around brother.
I’m still in alcoholic hell.
I’m with you.. sober but I can relate …. Sending you some much needed hugs 🤗 and am here if u need to talk ❤
Hey Serge. Me too since January I fell off the wagon twice. A lot of good days in between my binges. Still trying just like you. Your comment caught my eye hang in there it's so effing hard
@@cheryldeanley2074 ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Sending you strength, prayers and a big hug, serge!! Know that you have friends thinking about you and wishing you the best!! I believe in you ❤️❤️
@@cheryldeanley2074Cheryl, you should be so proud of yourself for all you're doing. You don't need to be perfect, I'm celebrating your wins with you!! You've got this ❤️❤️
I can totally relate to a lot of things you mentioned in this video. Especially having people babysit me and basically treat me like a kid. It was aggravating for everyone involved and it did absolutely nothing! Until you've made that decision in your heart that you're done with alcohol, nothing you try will work no matter how extreme it is. I think this video is a must watch for couples and families who have gone through these same struggles with alcoholism/addiction! Blessings to Mr. and Mrs. LD and family! ❤
Thank you so much for saying that David!!! You ate absolutely right! Hope you are having a great day! God bless❤❤❤
28:11 quitting for others like your kids can be a motivating factor but ultimately it has to be for YOU!
This was a great video. Such an important message to the spouses and families of people struggling with AUD. It's so common for a spouse to take on a parenting role. I was in a relationship when I fell deep into my addiction, and we fell into those roles. It was so unhealthy, and it hurt both of our confidence so deeply. We were together for 10 years and it ended within a year of that switch. I regret so much of my behavior during that time. I learned a lot from those experiences. And to this day I still reflect on them. Definitely will not allow myself to repeat history. The most important part of your message today was for the spouse or loved one to not blame themselves. You can't change another person's behavior or fix them. They have to want change and they have to be the one to commit. I love the food talk! Just came home from dinner with my fam and you made me hungry again. Haha I LOVE BANG BANG SHRIMP. 🍤🍤🤤 have a great night and god bless you both!! 😊❤️😊❤️
Well put Amanda!!
@@CraigFox-lt6lt thanks, Craig! I hope your weekend's been great so far!! 😊❤️
Thank you so much for sharing Amanda!!!! Hope you are having a wonderful day! God bless❤❤❤
Actually exercised constantly while I wasn’t drinking. It does fill the void. Every time that I wanted a drink or cigarette I went for a run. Plus changed my diet drastically.
That's awesome! Thank you for sharing! God bless😊❤
Sounds like you have a very understanding, loving, and supportive wife. That's awesome. I am happy that you have a great wife who didn't give up on you but supported you through your worst times. You are blessed and continued prayers for your healing 😊
I really do! Thank you so much laura! God bless❤❤❤
I love watching the two of banter back and forth on real life stories and situations. Keep it coming ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!!!! We sure will! ❤❤❤❤ God bless😊
Hey LD and Mrs LD, the addict is always trying to find an excuse to drink. I never blamed my partner for anything but always found an excuse, had a bad day, something to celebrate, it’s my bday, it’s your birthday…wait you don’t drink ok well I’ll drink for you. The excuses are endless. Phew 😮💨 exhausting. I have been told that at times I became a different person, specifically when I would drink vodka. There’s something about that spirit that really does it to me. Also, I know what you mean some will pick up another addiction, healthy ones yes but anything that takes over your life is not a healthy balance, in my opinion. Well thanks for the dialogue. I really love 💕 how you guys interact with each other. Hope you both have a wonderful evening.
Thank you micru866!!!! You ate not kidding! We come up with every excuse in the book don't we! Hope you are having a great day! God bless❤❤❤❤
Thank you both so much, so many helpful topics! God bless.
Thank you so much for watching! God bless❤❤❤
Brian Johnson. Insane. Now I stopped drinking and started a mostly raw vegan diet with plenty of juice but that was because I was bed ridden. Unfortunately went back to drinking. Not a whole lot, but describe a lot. A lot for a normal person is not my a lot. I exercised constantly.
These are my favorite videos so even if no one asks questions don’t stop doing them. Even just listening to you guys reminiscing is good content!
I’m just waiting for the bit where she explains how the heck she stayed with you, this is the most tolerant lady ever!
Just wondering why she didn't want to go in your AA meeting. I remember my first meeting I took my girlfriend. She was this is Jack up!!! Coffee break was young people talking about where they're going to get a drink. Then like I said they were calling me a newbie and don't ever say you're on an antibuse. Someone called me a cheater. Never went back. Besides all that you guys have me cracking up. Because you can laugh about it it makes me happy.! Hey Mrs G, you are an angel from God. You both crack me up lol love these interactions. Love you both from Jersey❤❤❤
Thank you jersey girl! We never even discussed her going in. I don't think we even knew that you could bring someone else in with you. Thank you jersey girl! God bless ❤
Thanks mr and mrs LD. No family member of an alcohol should blame themselves for their loved ones addiction. They will only quit when they're ready to quit. I think there should be resources available for those ready to abandon whatever the addiction is. All addictions are bad. The fentanyl and opiod problem is especially troubling.
Thumbs Up 👍 and shared out!❤ I Love Chicken and Dumplings too! LD I’d love to see your recipe maybe next winter!!!😊
Will do!❤
Excellent video! Quick question: i recall the doc sayin' he wanted you back for CT and biopsy. Hate pulling the "Rons Mom" card....but anything scheduled? I know you've been busy lately.
Really enjoyed this! Ron would initiate fights like that too! If you believe what they say... it can ruin your (spouse) self-esteem. I learned way too late.
Thank you! I do, I go back next month to musc to have that done. I don't know the date off the top of my head, but I go in a couple of weeks to get those done. Thank you for caring! God bless❤
@liverdisease-qb6rk
Like Superman...always wearing my "mom" costume. Used to make Ron crazy. Now I put it on when my other son Doug (39) comes here for a visit. Never stays long. Haha.
@RonsMom40-pu1en2gj4p it's how we know that you really do care!! I really appreciate you!!!
English pudding we call “Yorkshire pudding” I agree 😋. Great video. Just you two chatting is fine if there are no questions that week. Thanks for clarifying its not a spouses battle or fault. ❤ God bless. Podcast would be great . Check out paperoutpost she does both.
Thank you so much!!!! We will probably be doing one here soon! God bless❤❤
Love yorkshire pudding! My mother made it often!
@@RonsMom40-pu1en2gj4p with lots of butter😍
My favorite food that I have ever had is called “chicken ala Salerno” in Chitcongo:
chicken, Italian sausage, onions, green peppers, potatoes and red wine. Really tasty. You’d know how to put it together.
WOW that sounds AMAZING
@@amandaflaherty7528 😋 yup it’s probably my favorite meal! :) you marinate the quartered chickenses and sausage in the(edit: red wine) wine, garlic, pepper, for about a day and dump it all in a pan with quartered large onion, let that marry and then dump big chunks of pepper in, (quartered also) let that marry and softify and toss in potatoes at the end and splash it with more wine to make sauce. Viola!
Just get the proportions right. It’s EVEN good as a leftover (I hate leftovers)
Love all you guys take care, Serge in Chicago.
@sergedenovo2389 I'm saving this recipe! If I get the chance to make it, then I'll let you know how it came out!! Love you too! -Amanda from NY
@@amandaflaherty7528
Thanks, 😊 Mandy.
It’s not really a recipe it’s just a rough draft on how it’s made. But I basically laid it out.
You marinate the chicken in wine. Garlic, oregano, onion powder. (Sorry for us with a drinking problem[redder the better] use the whole bottle[so you don’t have leftover booze] And it cooks off anyway. Then you sear chicken with a tad of the reserve marinade and then you add the onions because they will melt and then you add the peppers and then you add more juice and all of that and get soft and then towards the end you add the potatoes and seasoning however you like it’s actually a pretty simple peasant meal in Italy.
But it’s really truly delicious .
:)
All my best.
Serge.
@@amandaflaherty7528
Trust me, Mandy, you get better with every single time of making it.
You put your preferred nuances in. And it comes delicious.
Me and wife have been trying to perfect it for years (like ratios and sauce [juice])
I think we finally got it. 😆
It’s EXTREMELY simple.
When all those flavors come together, it’s something super good! :D
You guys are awesome.
What's up, LD and Ms. LD. Hell, I wing a lot of my stuff. I hate seafood except for popcorn shrimp. I bet all that food was pretty good at the golf course club. The restaurant business is not easy. I know plenty of people who cook and are invovled in all that. I am not into "sophisticated dining" that much either. I am kind of a meat and potatoes guy.
Thank you brother! I love seafood! I just don't eat much of it anymore for a lot of reasons, one is the cost.... it's so dang expensive anymore! Hope you are having a great day! God bless😊😊😊❤
26:48 wow so like a whole bottle of grey goose was poured out and replaced with water?
Yep! Happened a lot!
@@liverdisease-qb6rk had the same with my cocaine addiction. Get paranoid and flush a load of it down the toilet. My dealer the next day was like how did you do that much? I was like ‘yeh I did it all man’!!
@@Redsnapper123 it's crazy how our mind works in addiction! I'm sure you told yourself when you flushed it that was the last time too?
@@liverdisease-qb6rk definitely The last time- but the next day or maybe the following weekend I was back on it. Only when drinking alcohol though. Booze is a gateway drug.
@@Redsnapper123 I know exactly what you mean..... I never touched the stuff unless I was drinking either!
There’s really no way a partner can stop another person. She did everything she could.❤ It has to be our own decision.
You are exactly right!❤
Mrs. LD Cooking really is a lot of work and very time consuming. Some people have the patience and really enjoy it but I’m Sure you’re an Expert about handling money and all kinds of other stuff. You married a Great Chef! You just keep being You.❤
She does, she handles all the financial stuff and a ton of other things that I can't. Thank you! God bless❤
Hey Mrs LD, I used to hate to cook also until I got the meal kits like Home Chef. I hated to cook because I was never interested and never taught. But after getting the kit, I grew to really enjoy cooking because they teach you all the tricks of cooking and make it simple. Then I'd invest in cooking tools and that made it even more fun. Just a thought!
I hope everyone is relaxing today ❤
I’ve always wanted to know what is it about us
(those that struggle with addiction) … IMHO for me it seems like we all approach everything with black or white thinking. I (we) am extremely uncomfortable in the gray of life.
Have to be in constant motion or “doing” something. Extremely hard to rest in the quiet.
Kristen.... I couldn't agree with you more on that. I am the same exact way. It's so hard to be still. My mind starts to wonder and I start to get uncomfortable in my own head. I know what you mean. Having a good day today and I hope you are too! It's another super hot and humid day here in SC! I'm sure you guys have the same weather in TX. God bless❤❤❤
@@liverdisease-qb6rk oh LD it may be worse … dew point 81.. feels like 111 rn. 85 ocean temp already. We’ve never had it be this soupy so early.
I struggle allowing anyone in or get too close.
I’ll do anything to avoid any “feeling” honestly.
I keep moving because I can’t afford to think back & constantly 2nd guess every boundary I have put in place.
It’s like walking around with an exposed nerve. Any holiday reminds me of the fun we used to have growing up. Everybody would come over as kids, swim all day into the night.. just fun. Hate to say it but now everybody’s gone. Anyway “R” working .. hb is fixing the sprinkler system & I pop out pick a weed or 2 then back in.
It’s just so heavy outside.
Is it 8pm yet? lol!!!
Sending yall lots of ♥️
@@liverdisease-qb6rk LD it’s exhausting at times. I like to call that part the “drill sergeant” it’s not so lonely when you agree. Someone in this world thinks like me.
@@Kristen10-22 I definitely do Kristen!❤️❤️❤️❤️ you are not alone....

Unfortunately a form of enabling!
Hey G, glad you're talking about food. I have a question.. I've had it for many years. I buy fresh shrimp from the supermarket bring it home put it in a frying pan butter and garlic. After I take it out and peel them they are still bland. What happened to the butter and garlic??? Then I get them from ShopRite already cooked Old Bay seasoning they are so good. It can't be that hard what am I doing wrong. I want to buy fresh shrimp again but they always come out bland
Hey jersey girl, I add lemon 🍋 zest and squeeze lemon at the end. Ground black pepper, does the trick. But the fresher the shrimp the more flavor is what I’ve found. I’ve had bland shrimps too. Maybe LD will share the secret sauce. Hope
you had a nice day.
@@Micru866 thanks for your reply. It's 9pm. Watching fireworks from my porch have a great holiday ☺️
@@cheryldeanley2074that sounds lovely, enjoy! Thank you laying low this weekend. Lots of movies and popcorn. lol
Hey jersey girl!!! Let them marinate in lemon juice and garlic for an hour before cooking and they should hold a lot more flavor. Also, drain them off and pat them dry before sautéed and they will get a nice caramelization on them which will add a lot of flavor too! Hope you are having a great day! God bless😊❤
Hahaha....did i beat Kristen?
Yep.
Hey you sure did!! This feel like a good ole fashion competition. Let the games begin lol.
HAHA enjoy your win, Kristen is hard to beat!! ❤🎉😂
@@amandaflaherty7528 lol 😆 yep!

You look great and seem to have so much energy . My husband has been diagnosed with Cirrhosis, his Meld score is 16 and he gets episodes of hepatic encephalopathy. He has just been placed on the transplant list. He has been sober 7 months . Are you on a transplant list and if not why , may I ask ?
❤❤ prayers for you and your husband❤❤
It sounds like you may have enabled him which is so easy to do because were easily manipuliated . I'm glad your not enabling him anymore. Liquor ruins families and lives!!!
He would have gotten it anyway. She was Not enabling him. You can’t stop another person.
If you’re willing, can you talk more about how we all hide money to buy booze from our spouse with your wife?
Absolutely!!! Thank you for the idea! God bless❤
Do you think working in the restaurant business was contributing to your drinking?
I’ve worked in restaurants bars and typically people drank after work
Did getting ill force you to stop drinking - would you have carried on otherwise?...
I've listened to several of your videos. I realize you have had a rough time and have an addictive personality. I would first tell you to turn your life over to God if you have not. He is the creator of the universe and sent his son Jesus to save us from our sins. Jesus is the Prince of Peace, the Great Physician, and so much more. He would walk beside you every step of the way in your alcoholic journey. I also wonder if you would feel better if you could begin to do good in your community. Sometimes when we focus so much on our own problems it helps so much to help others. Just a thought. God bless you!
Your wife is a gem ❤
You are one lucky man 🙏🫂♥️
Thank you so much debra!!!! I really am! God bless❤❤❤❤❤❤
My husband was a functional alcoholic for years. He now has decompensated liver failure and also kidney failure and needs a double organ transplant according to his doctors. I feel guilt for not trying harder to stop him from drinking😢
You can't stop him. Only he can change himself and I pray it's not too late. Best wishes valerie.
I’m so sorry but it’s not your fault.💞
Hey there.... it's not your fault at all and there is nothing you could have done. You could have tried anything and it wouldn't have changed anything. That's the one thing about this. We have to want to change ourselves. Please don't feel like you didn't do enough. I am so sorry to hear this, I hope that things get better for him soon. Thank you for sharing. God bless❤❤❤
Valerie please don't blame yourself. Someone with an addiction will not stop until they decide to quit, but I understand how you feel. My husband was not a drinker but he died suddenly at age 50 of a heart attack. After he passed, I wished I would have been bossier and insisted he eat a healthy diet (and not have created so many problems with my own behavior). Unfortunately we don't get do overs. We can just move forward. ❤❤ And prayers for you! ❤️❤️
Hey Chef, thanks so much for this video! I really enjoyed it and it answered some of my questions about the addictive person? Or the personality of an alcoholic person? That’s why I like to watch your videos. Omg I use to do that to my Dad when i took some of his top shelf liquor & i put water in it… he got so mad at me! Thank you so much again. Oh my gosh Chef it sounds so familiar?? I can’t believe how many comparisons you & my husband have??? Funny I guess you men are not that complicated?? Simple pleasers ? 🙏🙏❤️🩹❤️🩹
You are so welcome!!! Thank you so much for watching! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!! God bless😊❤
