I've studied music all my life and when i listen to Jon i hear and feel things as never before. Maybe at first i say "what is he doing?" Then something magic happens ! And my heat and soul say "Now i hear and know what that piece is all about!". It's like he takes me by the hand into a different, wonderful world . 😻
I believe he sees music in a different way than most musicians. But what's more is he has the ability to give u a peak of it that u can understand and follow.
It's always cool when two styles can be blended together into something totally surprising. I've only managed it a few times ... People like Jon and Chris Thile make it all seem so obvious! Like, how did Chopin NOT compose it this way?
You are so right about Jon being a gaucho 🎉and when you hear him interviewed, his love for his family is so strong and overflowing with love and joy. He has a beautiful heart and soul 🙏🏻❤️
@@ignaciowarro5129 They would have to be professionals! As a social dancer of 15 years I would find this really hard to dance to! Too jazzy for most of us
@@madelinelees945 Yeah, that's why I said it would have to be choreographed. I don't think you could just get up and dance socially to it. It wouldn't do the song justice. I'm a novice Tango dancer but I'd love to see this staged.
Wow! We never know exactly where he's going with the next chord! I trust Jon is in the flow of a high power - not unlike JS Bach, though in a completely different musical realm. I'm happy to flow right along each step of the way.
I have listened to several great performances by Jon. This time my mouth fell and stayed open for the whole song. Magnificent is even too weak to capture the listening experience.
One of the things I like about Monsieur Jon Batiste’s musical performance is music 🎼 has a language of it own and it takes you to a different level and it ease you and it makes you feel super bien!
You gotta get outta the house more and try to forget about the Steve Colbert show. There are many, many other young pianists that are way the fuck more talented than this cretin. Holy shit. There are people at Smalls Jazz club in NYC (youTube this) that play the fuck out of the instrument and are way the fuck more talented than this creep. Check out Julius Rodriguez. Holy shit. That kid can fucking play.
@@J3unG I would appreciate it if you would give me some names. I have recently discovered Lang Lang, a Chinese pianist. I am only speaking from my own limited experience. I still really enjoy Jon Batiste's verve and expression in playing the piano.

This is criminally low on views compared to the quality. Thankfully, I've found Batiste again through my love of Cory Wong or I'd probably never have see this.
A dark and smokey basement in Paris. People sitting around sipping Absinthe and smoking Gauloises. A pair of Apache dancers simulating sex on the dance floor. Jon having fun on the piano!
Jeff may have some onstage patter that’s amusing and he plays the same instrument as Jon but he’s as delicate as a baby elephant compared to Jon. I enjoy Jeff doing what he does but much like Hugh Laurie it’s just enjoyable ‘cause it’s proper music, they aren’t anywhere near the skill, depth or feel of Jon.

You should listen to Ahmad Jamal's "I Love Music"
Well said and so very true
@colton2307 What is different about the way he sees it youbthink, I'm curious? And how could I see it that way? Did he write this?
I feel and I am certain that Mr. Jon Batiste is sharing his love of/for humanity through his music. Thank You Sir!
I am so glad the talent and skill and work ethic was bestowed upon such a beautiful and gentle soul.

Yes, he is truly gifted.
Nope. Not even close.

I think he is channeling a whole group of musical geniuses 😂🎉❤
Goddamn Jon literally shredding it on the improvisation!
Jon Batiste, you are the Gaucho leading the piano in a tango, on the argentinian pampas in the night. Thank You!

If Nikolai Tesla was a pianist...this was beyond genius...the rapture of being caught in a musical dissertation and cyclone. Sheesh 🔥🔥🔥Bravo Sir
I love this. I desperately want someone to choreograph a tango to this.
Jez D'ancer my thoughts exactly. Wouldn’t that be fantastic!!!
Just imagine that scene.. Ooof, as Tango originating from my homeland, I admit it would make one hell of a choreography under experienced dancers.
