The fact that in that challenge video the girl who ended up winning is the one that suggested from the get go to explain their situations because she knew she had a sob story ready to go. Nina was right in doing challenges and not explaining personal situations because people would feel like their issues werenât as bad as others. I just dislike how she suggested they do personal situations and then ended up giving a performance with it.

I felt so bad for the girl in 19:33, she was just nervous and Ariana literally TURNED AROUND. She made a video doing it again and it sounded really good, I think she was just nervous when she was singing in the show.
I don't think they should have criticized Nina for being assertive. In group situations like that, someone has to step up otherwise literally nothing will get done. And Nina didn't force any one into decisions, she just got the group moving. Nina was also trying to be respectful and to protect people's feelings, like she said, she didn't want others to feel like their issues were invalid.
She did talk over people a bit, but... The girl who she spoke over knew that she had a good chance of winning with an emotional appeal (not trying to minimize her struggles, but that is what she was trying to do) so her suggestion was out of self-interest (which is fair, because it was technically a competition and she did really need the money, I would have done the same in her situation) whereas Nina's suggestion was something that would spare the feelings of the group.
