    Loved this movie when I was a kid. I didn’t fully understand it but it was just so bizarre I couldn’t look away. But looking at it again as adult I understood the story more so…it’s more like a small scale cosmic fantasy. Still love it and forgot how infectious the ending song was ☺️

    • @cdkilo77
      @cdkilo77 Před rokem +6

      It was exactly the same for me. I didn't understand it at the time but Terry Gilliam's ability to create visual masterpieces kept my eyes glued to the screen. We recently watched it with our soon to be 4 year old son and it was fun seeing him react the same way. He loved it and was in complete awe yet he had so many questions about what the heck was going on. Even adults struggle with the concept of time and when one is yet to have much knowledge of historical events, it can be difficult to comprehend. It's one of those rare movies that adults and children can both enjoy.

      Btw its also about God and the devil

    • @cdkilo77
      @cdkilo77 Před rokem

      Yes, though I think it goes a bit deeper than just being about God and the Devil. In my opinion, I believe Terry Gilliam was pointing out the moral quandaries and questions that arise out of religions and their oversimplified views of a supreme being. Like why would a god create evil if to only eventually destroy it? Why would a god allow things like war, poverty, death, and suffering? Why would a god toy around with humans like pawns on a chessboard? The movie brings up so many of these issues, yet being it's so humorous and visually entertaining it is easy to overlook them.

I love how it intertwines history, mythology, theology, fantasy and adventure, all through the wacky visual sense of Terry Gilliam. This song is honestly the best thing about the film!
    I remember first watching this and not really liking it, however upon second watch I grew adamant that there was some way of watching this and making sense of every nonsensical thing that happened. So I've watched it around 10 times now and found that there truly isn't a way of making sense of anything (if that makes sense), and I've found over the course of this mission that I kinda love it for it. Not one thing makes sense in this film, nothings answered, everything is strange and unusual... I myself am strange and unusual so I've grown to be quite fond (I have a soft spot for it).
